Haha, cancel the movie now, huh?

I just saw a bunch of "ZOMG Benedict CumberBAT!" type postings on Twitter as a result of this news. Gave me a good laugh.

I think Benedict dropped out in favor of Batman. :o

He's already a world travelling superhero in real life, why would he want to play one in a movie?

Can't say that I'm too bummed. Chastain is who I'm most looking forward to seeing in this movie anyway. Stone dropping out was more disappointing for me although there's no loss in talent with Mia replacing her.

Why did my mind go to the same thought? I know it's just something that I made up in my mind because I hang out on that thread so damn much. That thread is ruining my life, that's why I'm going to stay away from it for a while.

I'm obviously still interested in this movie but Cumby acting opposite Chastain was just such a cool thing to look forward to.

I was just kidding, but yeah, that thread is still fun to go to, but ThePowerCosmic and I got in trouble for making it "Comedy Hour and hate on Armitage."

Cumberbatch dropped out, Khaaaaaaaaan, Khaaaaaan, Khaaaaan, Khaaaaan (sorry, I had to do it).

Seriously? As an avid Trekkie, how dare you mention that name? The movie was s**t and J.J. Abrams will screw up Star Wars! :o

Damn it Guillermo, get started on At the Mountains of Madness already!

Legendary could possibly finance it now right? I'll take that over a Pacific Rim sequel any day of the week, and I liked Pacific Rim a lot.

MrMaooz, as an avid Trekkie myself, I LOVED the movie and JJ SAVED ST. The franchise was dead, Enterprise was cancelled and Nemesis bombed. There was NO ST for a decade, no one would greenlight a ST related project, and without JJ there still wouldn't be any. Fans need to understand that.

I was just kidding, Loki882. I loved Into Darkness. THought it was better than MOS.

I don't know about rights issues of scripts or whatever, but pretty much any studio could make it. Public Domain and all that.

Ok Maooz, that's cool. Pacific Rim made my inner anime fanboy squeal with delight, I'd love to see a sequel.

tons of directors pitched their idea for ST that was like a Micheal Bay type blockbuster movie. they choose JJ. its not like he was the only one in hollywood who had the idea to make it bright with action. like a Spielberg movie.:woot:

Star Trek '09 feels like a Spielberg flick.

Abram loves him some Spielberg so that isn't surprising.

I can't believe no studio wanted to front up the cash for At the Mountains of Madness with Del Toro directing, James Cameron producing and Tom Cruise starring in it.

I know a possibly R rated $150 million budget 3D movie is a hard ask these days but I still think it had a better chance of turning a profit than $150 million movie Wolfman Universal made which flopped

Well I'm sure GDT will find a good replacement since Cumberbatch is out. Jessica Chastain, and Charlie Day being in the movie is who I'm looking forward to seeing more anyway.

I still can't wait to hear more about the story, but I like what I've read about it so far. I still look forward to seeing a GDT AtMoM movie one day too lol.

He may just have to finance that **** himself unless he can get a studio to really give him another PR chance.

I squeal like a girl if Mads Mikkelsen replaced Cumberbatch.
