Continuing on the subject of Superman as an inspirational hero, I loved these little touches in the Ultimate Cut version of BvS:

Every few days I find out new stuff about this movie. Its been exactly a year now and I still do.

I guess it's because when WW came on screen with that music, it just pumped people up. Superman hasn't had that moment yet. Batman had the warehouse scene.

The Flight scene says hi. Best goddam Superman moment I have ever seen.

I like MOS but will never understand anyone thinking so highly of the first flight scene. Most of it, bar two shots is all CGI from a distance. Much like the Smallville finale. The two shots of Henry close up were a mess due to the shakey cam crap. As much as I hate the CGI Routh at the end of SR, that ending flight after seeing Lois was exactly how i like seeing a Superman flying shot. The way the camera is following him, going around him, soaring through the clouds. That made me feel like I was flying with Superman. It felt real. I felt I was there. The flight in MOS was just far away CGI man zooming past the static camera every shot. Meh, did nothing for me.

People like it for the same reasons you like the one in SR - It felt real to them. As if you're there, seeing it with your own eyes.

That was Snyder's reasoning for the way Superman moved in flight. He said if you were to see Superman blow by you in real time, you probably would be lucky to get a glimpse of him so he stuck to that logical reasoning in most of Superman's flying and action scenes in Man of Steel.

Looking back at it, I appreciated that tactic since it was a well thought out observation to get the audience to buy in but for me, I want to see a crisp Superman when in flight. I want to see a ton of effort put into making him and his surroundings look like a spectacle of an experience rather than blur's. think they can make it look both unique and stellar by coming up with a new way to showcase his speed but at the same time, being able to soak it all in and tell what's going on by still being able to mentally experience that powerset all in one. The Amazing Spider Man 2 may have bombed, but I always did like his web-slinging and the visuals that came with that.

The take off, the utter joy on his face as he flew and yes even the CGI distance shots were Superman flying like never before, it was exhilarating. Absolutely amazing sequence it felt magical, like the first time he flew in Superman the Movie magical. If someone can't see all that then it's a shame the scene didn't do that for them cause they're missing out.

This. The build up of him looking at the suit, walking about, cape flapping, Russel ****ing Crowe narrating, the score....everything was perfect.

In the theater, during that scene, I had a cheesy smile on my face and my wife turned around teasing me as if she wiped a tear away from my eyes. The debt of being a fan!

Don't worry man...I did that too. I think I teared up like 6 times during my first showing.

My big group all knows I'm the Superman guy. When (spoilers!) Supes died at the end of BvS, I felt the burning stare from all of them out of the corner of their eyeballs lmao. Everyone's reaction leaving: "You alright dude?"

Definitely, it was pure epic.

Oh brothers, Cav-El's smile is so infectious. Thank you Zack for choosing Henry as our Superman.

The first flight is amazing, the build up with Zimmer's score in the background and Cav-El's smile is truly mesmerizing. It gets better every time I sit down to watch MOS again.

The first flight scene did underwhelm me a bit compared to the similar scene in How To Train Your Dragon. It also bugged me that it was apparently his first flying attempt at 33. But nice touches with the wobbling and the laughing and the scrambling zebras.

I loved the first flight scene. Probably the best scene of Superman flying in any film. I especially loved how he kinda screwed up at first. It was funny and charming.

The flight scene was my big superman moment.

I also loved when he and Zod were fighting and Zod was making fun of him for "training on a farm" :funny:

I really liked the flight scene. It's visually brilliant and Snyder was the first to showcase sheer power in Superman's flight.

That being said, for me personally, it has nothing on the helicopter scene from STM, the fire sequence from SIII and the plane sequence from SR.

Still get goosebumps.

I mean, are some people so numb to superhero movies now that we can no longer see how epic shots like these are?

I love the 1978 Superman and as a movie I was obsessed with in my childhood and the baseline for all superhero films that followed, it has some imagery that will be burnt in my mind until the day I die. But those MOS shots above are every bit as worthy of our love as anything Donner did. Say what you will of Snyder, the man has an enviable and unquestionable talent for delivering on visuals.

Oh of course! Don't think Snyder's harshest critics would ever deny that.

I loved the first flight scene. I still pop in the CD and listen to that track.

Agreed, people don't seem to be impressed even when they are given epic shots, this is a great visual
