This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]347785[/split]
that's some great art, perfectly captures them
Cavill will be the Fifth cinematic Superman.
Alyn and Reeves represented the Golden Age of the Silver Screen Superman.
Reeve and Routh represented the Donner Age of Superman.
Cavill represents a new Modern Age for Superman.
part 2 comes after 3?
IS THIS COUNTING DOWN TO SOMETHING!?
Technically you could say the same about Kirk Alyn as wells since his Superman was more of a TV series than a movie since they didn't have TV's back then really.Of the Superman films? Technically George Reeves only starred in one Superman film as well.

But for decades, he was known as Superman. That's because he was immortalized on the Television series that ran for 6 years and two decades afterward in syndication. We can not say the same for Routh.
From the previous thread.
Cavill will also be the first cinematic portrayal of the Post-Crisis Superman (1986-present), while the others portrayed their respective versions of the Golden and Silver Age Supermen.
Saying Routh is the 'George Lazenby of Superman films' isn't some irrelevant measure of how many films he has been in, but a comparison of the impact his brief appearance in the role has had on how people remember him. George Reeves made a big impression in peoples minds. So yes, unfortunately, much like George Lazenby, Routh will be overlooked when it comes to remembering previous Supermen.Apples and Oranges.
You mentioned the films specifically. Reeves' TV spinoff for kids is moot. He still only starred in one big screen film technically.
There have only been 4 previous cinematic Superman (Alyn, Reeves, Reeve and Routh). Cavill is the fifth to carry the torch.

That was from his last movie that he just shot in Spain, prior to his Superman announcement.
The Superman curse only really applies to George Reeves and Christopher Reeve. Kirk Alyn is still alive and kicking, I believe, and all the Superboy actors (including Tom Welling) are perfectly healthy.so will cavill get the superman curse too?
btw, can the thread manager rectify the numbering of the thread?
mmm... is the thread manager a person? or is it some kinda default setting?
