Agreed. It's just a poor cover overall. The image makes him look like he's ill and is it just me, or is it photoshopped so badly that he looks out of focus?

Also, is it just me or does the lettering at the bottom of the cover look like something a third grader did?

I sometimes wonder why Empire use lettering at all on their covers. The image alone should sell the magazine.

Much like the Star Wars ones recently. Great images ruined by a stupid font and lettering.

When ever I see that iconic image these days my eyes always go to the RDJ styled heels Bat's boots have in that silhouette .

Yeah, I remember they did a textless cover with TDKR's Bane a few years back and it was GLORIOUS. They should do that full time.

The first thing that came to mind when I first saw the cover was Superman Lives. It immediately screamed "Tim Burton Superman" to me, probably because Supes looks like a corpse. It's just a magazine cover after all but I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me.

Probably more an attempt to make Superman look intimidating in a different way but it doesn't quite work.

I too find this a not so great pic....that and the Grease looking character poster, plus the last #whowillwin poster have not truly highlighted Cavill's beauty. And I say this as someone who rarely gives a crap about such things.

I think it is to build up Bats who is the center/key of the emerging DCEU. Its about money. Nothing more or less. No need to hyper analyze the image.

I hope they have it, but I think they'll probably just avoid it all together. Some scenes he'll be Clark, in others he'll just appear as Superman, no on-screen changes. But I really hope it's there, and I hope they actually do it right aka he rips the shirt/jacket completely off in one smooth motion, rather that just ripping open the shirt and standing there posing for a few seconds.

I don't think they'll bother with it. I don't think anyone is gonna buy that he can hide that costume under his clothes, verisimilitude or not.

I know in some iterations, Clark has been depicted/written in ways that really placed a bad spotlight on him with how he's handled his relationship with Lois. I'm not asking for the dude to be portrayed as the perfect Boyfriend to Lois, but it'd be nice to not have him portrayed where you wonder on why any woman would want to be with him in a long term relationship.lol

Well some of the examples that I'm talking about are like how he was written in "Smallville" in terms of how he handled his relationships with women prior to Lois.

And then there's the whole "Memory Wipe" thing from Superman II and IV, along with how he was written in Superman: Unbound, where he refused to let Lois tell people that they were an item and treated their relationship like a government secret.
