When you say "traditional" all you're referring to is past iterations. Everything new goes against tradition unless it reproduces a past rendition slavishly, and even then it doesn't necessarily work. I'm going to have to hear a very well articulated and evidenced argument for why this Superman isn't somewhat quintessentially in the spirit of the character.
Sexy time.
Wow! that's a big one.![]()

Elseworlds stories are often still 'in the spirit' of the character... otherwise it wouldn't be an elseworlds... it's just be a story about some other character
This version of the character is very different from the majority of other interpretations, largely due to huge changes to his backstory that have affected his 'success' at being a Superhero.
Elseworlds stories take a well know character and ask 'What would he be like if this happened? What would happen to him if the world was like this?'
That's exactly what this story from MOS to BvS has been doing.
What would Superman be like if his Dad voluntarily died to protect his secret, right in front of his eyes? What would Superman be like if he was FORCED into becoming Superman by a situation, or by wanting to make his father proud, rather than choosing it himself? What would Superman be like if he killed the very first villain he fought, violently and in front of children? What would the world think of him if people died and lost loved ones in a super powered battle he was partly responsible for?
I could go on, but do you get what I mean?
Is Agent Coulson the leader of the Avengers?
No.
But he recruits them.
Exactly. Batman's just assembling it because he won't be able to have a heavy role once the real fighting starts since he's obviously a lightweight compared to the others. What is this obsession with whose the leader anyway
The Justice League have always been a team, they make decisions together and they all take lead when required. Which is how it should be.
He would have looked like the better man if he wasn't poisoned with Kryptonite, if he would have been restraining himself, but he was actually suffering and couldn't fight Batman.
The whole swinging his body with his feet tied scene was too much. I did feel it humiliated him.![]()
By the way Miss Lois Lane, now that you mention the "I failed him in life, I won't fail him in death" line, I'm trying to figure out the meaning.
Not so much that i feel, i just think that like Frank Miller tends to do, we need to make Batman amazing by punking Superman so that Batman seems so much cooler. I hate this trend.
Fixed.We ALL wish...![]()
Is anyone else just bored with the complaint about Cavill's Superman not being "Superman" enough? It's an obvious issue that pretty much everyone agrees needs to be resolved, but people get throwing it into EVERY conversation about the character like its an original thought. It's pretty much stifling discussion about the good stuff in this movie.
I saw somebody say this earlier, and I've just realized that Clark Kent the reporter is no more in this universe.
Kinda sucks, but oh well.

I'm not sure what "Superman enough" means.
Inspiring hope, not saying things like "Superman was never real, just the dream of a farmer from Kansas", and not sulking after letting a bomb go off in Capitol.
These aren't things that should happen in a Superman film for a lot of us![]()
