More awesome gifs please, Fallen! Great stuff! I wonder if with the R rated extended cut that bathtub scene will be sexier....not like Watchman, but just a tad racier.

When you say "traditional" all you're referring to is past iterations. Everything new goes against tradition unless it reproduces a past rendition slavishly, and even then it doesn't necessarily work. I'm going to have to hear a very well articulated and evidenced argument for why this Superman isn't somewhat quintessentially in the spirit of the character.

Wholeheartedly agree. And I think this is something to consider around Lex too.

Sexy time in all its' glory. :awesome:

Elseworlds stories are often still 'in the spirit' of the character... otherwise it wouldn't be an elseworlds... it's just be a story about some other character :funny:

This version of the character is very different from the majority of other interpretations, largely due to huge changes to his backstory that have affected his 'success' at being a Superhero.

Elseworlds stories take a well know character and ask 'What would he be like if this happened? What would happen to him if the world was like this?'

That's exactly what this story from MOS to BvS has been doing.

What would Superman be like if his Dad voluntarily died to protect his secret, right in front of his eyes? What would Superman be like if he was FORCED into becoming Superman by a situation, or by wanting to make his father proud, rather than choosing it himself? What would Superman be like if he killed the very first villain he fought, violently and in front of children? What would the world think of him if people died and lost loved ones in a super powered battle he was partly responsible for?

I could go on, but do you get what I mean?

I get what you mean, but I'm still not sure the "elseworlds" moniker applies here. Elseworlds tales are usually massive departures from established character traits rather than minor re-workings of small elements of a character's backstory, etc. Superman: Red Son or Batman: Vampire are Elseworlds stories because they completely re-imagine the characters.

BvS is really just a new story incorporating the traditional manifestations of Batman and Superman. I'd say the route MoS and BvS have taken is just to analyze Superman's effect on the world and vice-versa in far more depth than it has been before. Comic arcs don't really need to do that, they start off assuming Supes has gone through his growing pains and he's the idealized, perfect realization of the character - while Snyder is busy going through the process of getting Supes to that stage. IMO, if anything is Elseworlds-y in the movie I'd say it's related rather to certain of Batman's decisions than much related to Superman.

Is Agent Coulson the leader of the Avengers?

No.

But he recruits them.

Is this meant to refute or support my statement? :funny:

What is this obsession with whose the leader anyway :funny:

The Justice League have always been a team, they make decisions together and they all take lead when required. Which is how it should be.
Exactly. Batman's just assembling it because he won't be able to have a heavy role once the real fighting starts since he's obviously a lightweight compared to the others.

Assembling a team doesn't mean you can lead them or keep them together.

Thank you to you, the fans, for speaking so loudly. Hope lives on ‪#‎BatmanvSuperman‬

He would have looked like the better man if he wasn't poisoned with Kryptonite, if he would have been restraining himself, but he was actually suffering and couldn't fight Batman.
The whole swinging his body with his feet tied scene was too much. I did feel it humiliated him. :csad:

I wanted a straight up MoS sequel, and for Bruce and Clark not to fight. But the way I saw it was like the scene with the bullies in MoS, or the bar scene. There were moments when he was at full power (he did some damage to Bruce, if I recall?) and could have destroyed Bruce, but he chose not to, because that's not who he is. If Clark were like Bruce, as soon as he arrived in Gotham he could have said this and it would all be over:

I too missed the Clark scenes in your pictures, but hope we get them in the extended version/deleted scenes.

By the way Miss Lois Lane, now that you mention the "I failed him in life, I won't fail him in death" line, I'm trying to figure out the meaning.

Alfred was telling him that Clark wasn't the enemy, and outright told Bruce that he (Bruce) had been a good man who had turned cruel. In their first meeting as Batman and Superman, Clark could have destroyed Bruce, but he didn't. Bruce let his own paranoia and hatred blind him to the fact that Clark was good. Clark's sacrifice proved it, but too late. That's what I took from the line.

Michael Shannon should have tried having a word :cwink:

Not so much that i feel, i just think that like Frank Miller tends to do, we need to make Batman amazing by punking Superman so that Batman seems so much cooler. I hate this trend.

Agree 1000%!

Is anyone else just bored with the complaint about Cavill's Superman not being "Superman" enough? It's an obvious issue that pretty much everyone agrees needs to be resolved, but people get throwing it into EVERY conversation about the character like its an original thought. It's pretty much stifling discussion about the good stuff in this movie.

I saw somebody say this earlier, and I've just realized that Clark Kent the reporter is no more in this universe.

Kinda sucks, but oh well.

Pretty sure you've had an excuse for every issue in the film including the issues with superman so if you agree it needs to be resolved then you've certainly hid it well!

I'm not, it was a big misfire and let me down so it'll take a bit of time to get over what they did with that character. Isn't there a positivity thread for those who don't want to hear anything negative about the movie?

Superman is so Superman in this film that even though Batman nearly kills him, he (Supes) still manages to get that stubborn SOB (Bats) to admit he f-cked up.

Boss.

I'm not sure what "Superman enough" means.

Hell yes! I am fed up with it.

Just because its not what they wanted. That does not mean it is not Superman. Honestly Superman is a character with over 75 years of history, he hasn't remained the same since 1938.

I'm not sure what "Superman enough" means.

Inspiring hope, not saying things like "Superman was never real, just the dream of a farmer from Kansas", and not sulking after letting a bomb go off in Capitol.

These aren't things that should happen in a Superman film for a lot of us :csad:

So Superman isn't allowed any doubts or mistakes?
