After hearing and seeing on what was cut from the theatrical cut, I'm starting to really think that an better edit and a few reshoots would have saved this film on a critical level. Granted, it still probably wouldn't be an critically acclaimed hit, but it wouldn't have been as bad as it is now.

For starters....

1. Add in All of the footage concerning Clark's investigation of Batman's reputation in the theatrical version. That includes on what happens to anyone who receives the bat brand.

2. Cut out things like Bruce's freaky graveyard monster dream and Flash's visit from the future. Hell, you could even cut out the scenewhere Bruce is just staring at his costume and Robin's costume.

3. Edit or even reshoot parts of the batmobile sequence so it doesn't look like Batman just blatantly killed off all of those mercenaries.

4. Keep all of the Africa investigation subplot in the film.

5. Trim out the parts where Lex acts too annoyingly. You could also trim and reshoot scenes where Lois threw the kryptonite staff into the water, only to go through the hassle of having to retrieve it again. Just have it where the staff fell into the water from all of the Shockwave caused by Doomsday's battle.

6. Keep the aftermath of the Senate hearing.

If anything, an cut like this would have probably gotten the film and 40-50 % rating on RT.

anyway, the UC won't help as the main complaints are:-
the tone of the movie - superman isn't hopeful and has doubt of himself; while batman is killing.
these undeserving complaints are totally ignoring the story and background given to these 2 characters.

to me, TC is great. UC will be much better!!! it's a double bonus!!!

It reinforces his ongoing trauma in dealing with parents' death and how 'The Bat' has completely taken over his life. It's a character moment which directly feeds into the climax of the BvS fight.

The whole scene displays how Lex moves his financial weight to gain political clout. and this directly leads into how we get to Doomsday.

An apocalyptic future where Superman (seemingly) rules above everyone and kills all who oppose him. That has nothing to do with the film? You really can't think of a single thread where that may relate to something?

No one's happy about the cut, but it's not like there were countless frivolous scenes within the TC. They all had a place with the narrative, which makes it difficult to maintain a cohesive 2.5 hours when everything was supposed to fit in 3.

The TC kept many metaphorical scenes and deleted explicit story driven ones. That's a very misjudged choice. The bat dream sould not exist in a movie where the senate bombing aftermath was cut.

It's pretty obvious the studio had little faith in Superman carrying the movie so they doubled down on the Batman stuff. Any chance of a Man Of Steel sequel just went flying out the window faster than Kal-El himself.

My main complaints was the horrible editing, odd music choices and terrible acting from Cavill, Eisenberg and several others. Cringe inducing scenes with Lex feeding jolly ranchers to people or Bruce's inept employee at the beginning of the film just take me out of the film. The main issue for me was I never bought into Batman's anger with Superman thus the fight had no weight for me. The entire setup felt extremely forced and muddled as to why Batman would want to kill someone who flies around the world saving people. Then after all that Batman simply changes his mind and the whole 1% chance of turning evil is no longer an issue. Its all too flimsy to me.

it is... THE BATMAN we are talking about... the sole & only most trusted & bankable DC character to the studio.
