This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]347570[/split]
Hey I have a question from a previous post, someone mentioned that Superman will be CGI but Cavill will be himself as Clark? And that the CGI Superman looks like Christopher Reeve a bit? So are they trying to say Superman will be like the Hulk? You know when he puts the costume on his features are gonna change lol. Sounds interesting but a bit weird?

a couple of posts in the last thread have tried to make sense of the madness and by putting some logic behind the rumors...
from me...
"if they're actually testing an all CG Superman that looks like Chris Reeve, it's most likely test shots to figure out how they'll handle the flight and action sequences and/or how they'll design the costume without actually having to MAKE a practical costume. Pre-Vis plays a huge role in special effects movies now-a-days."
from Michael Corleone...
"The part about an all CG Superman may be a misunderstanding by someone. There is most certainly going to be CG flying or actor replacement at some point in the film. It's not uncommon. Right now they should be working on pre-viz work and doing testing of different versions of the model. This work would be done for any heavy f/x film and especially for something like Superman. I would hazard a guess that what they're talking about is nothing more than pre-production work and doesn't necessarily mean that Superman is going to be all CG all the time. The model could even look like Reeve right now because of an existing model they had on hand or they just did it as a goof. whatever is being made right now though is more than likely not going to be screen worthy. This would no doubt be pre-viz work."
i didn't think there was too much CG in SR, Singer just didn't know how to use it and use it in the wrong place. if the rumor of spending $2 million on the bullet to the eye is true then that's just ridiculous.
knowing Snyder, there's bound to be a ton of CG. thankfully Snyder is well versed in effects and knows what looks good and what looks bad. hopefully Nolan will have a little bit of input and help Snyder fine tune the CG because as cool as Snyder's visuals look, there ARE times where the CG borderlines video game visuals.

That makes sense!
btw: Shouldn't this thread be "Henry Cavill IS Superman: - Part III" and not Part 1?
well lemme rephrase. for a special effects extravanganza that any Superman movie should be, i didn't think the AMOUNT of CGI was too much....but i certainly agree that Singer used CGI in parts where he should've used Brandon. a CGI model should NEVER be used in close ups unless you're making Avatar quality models, which costs a fortune.I dunno I thought there was far too much in SR's. The flying bit at the end, the bit where lifted the rocket ship off the plane, the bit where he fell off the edge on NK, just way too much when they could have easily used the actor.
me too...but from what i remember, Snyder does just that. aside from Dr. Manhattan (who looked very believable) Snyder always uses his actors. i remember seeing a shot in Sucker Punch where i thought the actress was CGI, but then i saw the footage and the actress actually did the stunt. in 300 the only CG doubles where those of unimportant characters. Snyder has a great grasp of when to use CG doubles and when not to. his only problem when it comes to visuals is that sometimes the backgrounds look video game-ish.You have to mix it up, hopefully liked you said Snyder knows what looks good and bad so hopefully he'll get the mix right. I just hope they use the actor as much as possible.

anyway, i think i'm getting off topic....so i'll just say that i hope Cavill knocks everyone's socks off as both Superman and Clark.
all threads hitting the 1K mark gets closed
supposedly so the servers run faster.
We're going to be changing to new threads every two days.
I really can't wait to see what Cavill looks like in the suit, no doubt we'll end up with some grainy/blurry camera shots of him as CK on the set at somepoint
One of the few wise decisions Sony's done to sell the Spider-Man reboot was releasing that full-on picture of Garfield in the suit a week or so before exterior photography (with the stunt doubles also sporting the suit) started.
I'd imagine WB will do likewise. Although I wonder if the reboot will be a mostly in-doors shoot like Returns, Avatar, King Kong, etc.
