"Here We Go Again" Part 4: New Welling As Superman Rumors?

She's definitely a great actress. Didn't know she was in the running actually.

Ya she must have probably recently tested in last few weeks. Cause her name wasn't on early rumored names.

That only shows you how truly clueless the supposed insiders are.

Interesting note in that Diane Lane appeared in the George Reeves biopic Hollywoodland and Amy Adams appeared in Smallville's 1st season episode, Craving before being cast as Martha Kent and Lois Lane respectively for the reboot movie. It all comes down to the script, editing, and onscreen execution. :super:

Not saying she's a bad choice or anything, but it's painfully obvious how some people are forcing themselves to like her just because she's been cast.

Haha yeah, I noticed that. ;) Doesn't include me though. I always adored her.

Ya I have seen her in a few films and have liked her work. Didn't expect her to be lois. But she is a very solid choice. And I am sure she will do well.

You can't have Lois Lane without her daily planets, Jimmy knows this.

Jimmy: Yes.

This is what Jimmy truly wanted. That was his objective.

I like her, although I didn't realize she's that old (36)...

That makes Lois a bit of a cougar to Henry Cavill's hot younger man Clark/Superman. (He's 28.)

Actually, her being slightly older will probably add a nice complexity to their relationship.

And it won't hurt that she can ACT, like three Oscar-nominations type of acting... I think KB was out of her depth, seriously, for SR... she's done fine in other roles, but she wasn't up to doing Lois. Even people I know who liked that film didn't like her much, and I never liked her for that part from the first moment I heard she'd gotten it.

Amy is a HUGE improvement in so many ways.

I'm glad she got the part.

Well we don't even know what ages superman and lois are in the film. Even though she is older she could be playing younger. Nothing new to tv/film for folks playing younger or older then they are.

It's nice to see that a Smallville alumnus is in the new Superman reboot movie. :super:

I think they could have picked a prettier Lois Lane but as far as acting goes, she'll hit it out of the park.

If this is true, then the role of Lois Lane has passed down from Erica Durance to Amy Adams. She appeared in Smallville's 1st season. How interesting that things go full circle for her. :super:

LOL passed down? No. Amy Adams has built a great film career, and that's what got her a chance to even be considered.

I wanted Hatcher's look to be topped and don't felt it ever was (I know Durance fans may disagree) so hopefully Amy will get the right makeup/hair treatment. I think she has a pretty face and decent body, but like many people I see a more "natural" look for Lana than Lois. That doesn't mean she can't look like Lois if done right though. I actually think if her hair was black she'd look like Jennifer Connelly, mmm.

The original Lois Lane, Noel Neill, shared her thoughts about Adams as Lane at Superman Homepage:

Noel Neill said:
"Amy Adams as Lois Lane is a wonderful choice. She'll bring a lot to the role. She is a great actress with great acting depth. I have loved her work, so I have no doubt she will be an incredible Lois Lane. Welcome to the family, Amy!"

Strange thing about KB, I could see her capable of playing Lois in some of her other roles. I just think the general story of her being a Mom, dating another guy, and being written as bi**hy completely screwed her. Let's not forget the out of date frumpy clothes and the big curly wig. If she played a modern Lois, playful and not mean to Clark she'd be up there with Hatcher possibly.

I hated that she was mean to Clark. Not even Kidder's Lois was that *****y towards him.

Posting here as well for those who don't read spoiler threads.

Here's some interesting anecdotes from Schneider, puts some light on certain things:

http://www.supermanhomepage.com/news.php?readmore=9473

He mentioned that the cost of the upcoming Superman movie was about $100 million. In 10 years of production, Smallville cost $800 million to produce.

Another man in the audience mentioned that two men had been cast to play Superman in the movies during the ten years Tom Welling has portrayed Clark Kent in Smallville. He asked John if it was true that he advised Tom to not audition for the Superman role in the movie. John confirmed that it was true. He felt that there would be no better Superman than Tom Welling, but the Superman role might not be good for Tom Welling's career. It's not because of any Superman curse, but it would be a career mistake. John Schneider said that good things were ahead for the not so young man.

In response to another question, John said that he did not see Tom in the Superman suit, but he did get to see the Superman uniform. He got to touch it, and compared the texture to holding an anaconda. The material it is made of is very slick material. It is a very expensive suit and felt very creepy.

If it was the SR suit then I'm sure it was creepy.

It's definitely not the SR suit used in Lazarus. They made a Superman suit tailor-made for TW. :super:

I wouldn't be so sure about that, but it's interesting that he didn't refer to it as the "SR uniform".

With all the budget they spent on creating costumes for other DCU characters, I don't see any reason not to create the Superman suit for Clark.
