Hitman: Absolution - Part 1

I have Blood Money. Is it still worth getting the collection?

I'd say so man. Although I'd tell ya to buy anything Hitman related. There are some REALLY great missions in Silent Assassin and Contracts tho.

As someone who has played these games multiple times. Here's my ranking on which past titles were my favorites:

1.) Blood Money
2.) Silent Assassin
3.) Contracts

The reason I list contracts lower is because, really, Contracts is just a remake of Codename 47. A lot of the missions were re-do's from the original game, like Hong Kong and Traditions of the trade. Contracts had some nice levels, but they weren't as memorable as Silent Assassin.

Silent Assassin is a game with some really high high's and some really low low's. They had some really awesome and memorable levels, but they also had some annoying and frustrating ones. I loved infiltrating the bank in Malaysia, serving the Japanese man poisonous fugu fish, and attending the party at the Russian mansion. However, then there were the annoying levels where the damn Japanese ninja's would see through most of your disguises and attack right away. I'm also not a big fan of desert levels, so going to India was not very interesting for me.

But Blood Money, oh man Blood Money. There's a Hitman game I love to play over and over with some truly memorable levels. I loved going to suburbia and taking out the target that was under witness protection. The heaven and hell mission was utter genius, where the top floor was heaven, and the bottom floor was hell full of sexy women and rooms that matched the themes. Infiltrating the Playboy mansion was another great one, where people are just enjoying a nice, quiet Christmas party not realizing there was an assassin amongst them.

Blood Money is definitely a must buy and a must play for anyone who loves the Hitman franchise.

I'm still waiting to get Absolution from Gamefly, so I haven't tried played it yet, but I just saw that they sent me the HD Trilogy. So how do those games compare to this one?

They're all solid games, but as others have said Blood Money is probably the best of them. I'm stoked for the HD Collection. Looking forward to seeing the achievement list, too.

EDIT: I just saw the achievement list and there's none listed for Blood Money. I'm assuming it'll just be the same as the standalone release, then? So if we already 100% that we can't 100% it again I suppose lol.

They're all great, but id deff suggest playing them first before going to Absolution. It might be harder going back after playing the original titles as they can feel kind of dated in comparison to Absolution.

I cant wait to play through SA and Contracts again, its been quite a while.

Thanks guys. I just got word that I'll finally be getting Absolution along with the Trilogy tomorrow, but I'm not going to have enough time to play all 4 games before I have to send the games back and cancel my account. But I do kinda feel like playing Absolution first is going to spoil me when I go back to the older games.

I just picked up the HD collection. It came with a code for the Sniper Challenge, so if anybody wants it, just say so here and ill PM it to ya.(360 version)

Its pretty neat seeing the older games with a nice coat of HD polish. Other than that they've pretty much been left intact. Blood Money is the exact same version as the standard release, so if you've played through that your saves are still there. Id recommend picking up the Trilogy if you don't have the games any more or haven't ever played them, but if ya still have your PS2 or Xbox copies, i think you'd be ok sticking with those.

So I got both Absolution and the Trilogy from Gamefly and I opted to play Absolution first just because I figured it would be easier to get the platinum in one game and sending that back as opposed to trying to get it in three games.

But I have absolutely loved Absolution. I already got all of the trophies, but I'm still replaying the levels just to see how I could do things differently. But the Trilogy is a lot different and I don't know how much I'll be able to adjust to the gameplay, especially for the first two, before I decide to just stop.

I'm not sure I'm well suited to the gameplay of this title. Love the main character & the settings though. I'd probably enjoy it more watching someone amazing play through the campaign.

I really like the style because its a stealth game where once you're spotted, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's Game Over. And I mean that in the sense that most stealth games gives you a few seconds to contain the situation, and after that everyone pretty much rushes in on you and you're dead. But with this, there's a run and gun option available.

I recently played the Splinter Cell Trilogy and this was actually what I felt was missing, and what I hope and think Blacklist will include. I love playing game as stealthily as possible, but I love having the option to just kill on the spot as quickly as possible in order to contain the situation.

I had a situation where I was quite far into the level & someone got alerted & from the cupboard I hid in (was succesfully hidden) it seemed completely impossible to shoot my way out. There were like 15 armed guys who never went away. I left it for 15 minutes and they were all still there & very agitated! Wish I could save games also. When friends get on and want to play something it's frustrating not being able to leave if you've got deep into a level without reaching a checkpoint. I'm too impatient I guess t:

Haha prob. Iv still yet to go through the game for my "score" run through, my 5 play throughs have all been to experience the story.

I don't if anyone will ever be brave enough to ever truly do 47 'right'. This is a guy who will kill a janitor, chef, gardener, cop, etc, without a thought just to get their clothing. Movie character's have to be sympathetic on some level or else the audience won't get behind them -a true blue 47 is not a character I can see movie going audiences supporting.

But!

That's not to say they can't still make a cool movie and leave that stuff out. It's not like their has to be scene or two where 47 kills some innocent schmo. There's other ways to get a janitor's uniform, after all. Paul Walker's an interesting choice. Here's hoping for something decent!

I don't know about that. There's redeeming qualities to 47. We saw a lot of those in Absolution.


Now as for Paul Walker playing 47.....

I don't hate it. Paul Walker can be a pretty good actor, I thought he was great in Running Scared. NO one and I mean NO one will ever come even remotely close to David Bateson but I'm at least open to seeing different takes on the character. Ill be interested in seeing how this turns out. I just wish they'd let Bateson do it. He's a proven stage and screen actor and it's not like Walker has the name he once did. Give the job to Bateson dammit
