Comics How do you feel about them killing off MJ

Well I think its obvious that sooner or later his identity will become "secret" again.

2 years from now no one will know who he is

Goodbye to all Marvel?! You obviously aren't reading the following books:

-Punisher Max
-Daredevil
-Ultimates
-Runaways
-Spider-Girl

If I could only keep 5 marvel titles, these would be the ones.

And THEN some! Marvel as a whole has definitely upped their game lately.

For the first time in a decade and a half, im actually buying all their core character titles;

Amazing Spider-Man
Astonishing X-Men
(New) Avengers
Captain America
Daredevil
Fantastic Four
Iron Man
Hulk

Not to mention all the lesser tier stuff...

Now If only they'd restart a new Thor book....

Punisher Max: Not a big Punisher fan.
Daredevil: Matt Murdock is in jail so I'm just waiting to see how that all pans out.
Ultimates: Get's a little confusing to me, but I do read and collect Ultimate Spidey
Runaways: Nah....
Spider-Girl: Fans keep this alive! That's a "wow" in my book, but with the recent things coming like Amazing Spider-Girl, I just might pick it up.

I just read and put back on the shelf...just don't like them to kill off MJ. Hoping that mind wipe thing comes true...professor x is missing right? Maybe at the end he'll do a mind wipe on everyone. I still think this Civil War thing is a conspericy theory and all a master plan made possible by the Red Skull.

in max it's a completely different animal, this is punisher unrestrained, 616 frank was a ***** by comparison

He got out last issue and fought another DD

I used to get this but am dropping it for the rest of the current run after Hitch's comments recently. There's only two issues to go but **** him he's not getting my money after what he said.

Seriously, you're passing on the best new book marvel has introduced in like 10 years

goddamit people like you are the ****ing problem with...nah only kidding, I can see your position on this some weeks, I'm getting between 12 and 17 titles a week at the moment :( no money for beer:(:(

If they pull a mind wipe that will be the BIGGEST cop out in Marvel history. That would mean going through all this crap for absolutely nothing (well other then some lame ass sales boosts). I don't know about you, but when I throw money out on a storyline that has crossed over every major title and lasted for half a year, the least Marvel can do is keep people's memories intact.

Kind of like House of M then

can't they give peter a break? why can't he be happy for once in his personal life. and give the guys some ****in friends for crying out loud. why can't he have some core characters that stay the same?
Why is it always him, MJ, and May? Do they have to kill everything Peter Parker loves? how can anyone in this world continue if the people he is close to keep on dieing? It's unrealistic, he'd have gone off the deep end by now.

You know it makes you wonder, is Civil War really just one big destraction so Joe Q can kill off all the characters he doesn't like, like MJ? Marvel has stooped to using big events for really lame plot devices like The Other. I mean we had to go through 12 issues just for a new costume that is going to disappear and new powers that have been conveniently ignored. I wouldn't be surprised if Civil War turned out to be the same way.

i thoughjt hed said that shes not being killed off. But that he may seperate them or something.

Gawd damn, first the unmasking then this? Marvel really got some balls...

No because that leaves the doors for them getting back together again and Mr. Q doesn't want that. So whats the only way to keep them together but split them up at the same time???????

Death.

This is probably bull anyway. Every comic book store guy likes to think he's got the inside track when in reality they know no more than the rest of us

My thing is, after we've had to endure crap-tastic shock after shock storyline, Marvel throws us another one. We didn't even have more than a month to recover from "The Other" before we were thrust into the road to Civil War. It's ridiculous. After Civil War, I'm sure we'll be on to the next big storyline, "Peter Parker: Widower" or something like that. It's ******ed.

Personally, as bad as "The Other" was, they should have given him sometime to deal with the ramifications, or maybe even undo it all. hell, wasn't there supposed to be some Chick made out of spiders walking aroung New York? What happened with that?! Argh. So, the storyline is just ignored until the fans become complacent again, and then the spiders-chick will turn up to "turn Spider-man's world upside down" again. Yippie.

Now the unmasking, which Marvel tried to throw us off the scent by bringing up the marriage and it's possible dissolution, id just a distraction from the possible dissolution of the marriage or MJ's possible demise. It's all smoke and mirrors in the house of ideas nowadays, as far as Spidey's concerned.:(

Well they said Civil War will be big and they were right. My comic shop owner said that in the next 2 issues they are suppose to kill off MJ and thats wht makes Spider-Man change sides and see why they need the mask.
:down

Good point.

if you read the latest solicitations for 538 they make it sound as if pete and MJ have to deal with the consequences of civil war TOGETHER. could be done to put us off the trail, but i'm thinking maybe aunt may bites the dust?

They keep saying the want him to be more dynamic, more young free and single. Can't do the single with MJ in tow but the other two can be achieved by getting rid of may, she's gone. I'm pretty sure of it now that I think about it. Gonna miss the character but it's better than axing MJ

Technically, it was also be the third time Aunt May has died. :D

Also, if they do end up killing off Aunt May it would be:

A. Marvel going back on the idea that Aunt May is supposed to be a living reminder of Peter's mistake regarding Uncle Ben.
B. Marvel acknowledging that once Aunt May learned her nephew was Spider-Man, she really had no where to go after that.
C. Marvel attempting to recapture ASM #400 and admitting, perhaps, that they shouldn't have retconned that story.
D. Marvel demonstating "dramatic irony" in that it was Aunt May who convinced Peter to publicly unmask and because of that, it leads to her own death.
E. Marvel is hinting that Aunt May is going to die in Spider-Man 3.

Also if they thought the reaction to the unmasking was bad, can you imagine the backlash if they did kill MJ????? Even the fat ****'s not that stupid, It's May. We'll miss ya luv

I can see all of those except E; what happens on the page has nothing to do with what happens on screen.

Um...what about the organic webbing that Spidey developed in Paul Jenkis' Spectacular Spider-Man "Avengers Dissassembled" tie-in? Totally a way to capitalize on the movies. Also, considering how the Spider-Man movies are co-produced by Marvel itself, they certainly know what's going to happen in them, so it's not hard to believe that the comics are tailored to fit those events in advance. Although not precisely what happened, of course.

That's a stretch. Just because some elements of the movies influence some elements of the comics, doesn't mean that one is bound to follow the other.

yeah someone posted a thread starting (and i paraphrase):
Due to her appearance in Spider-Man 3, we all know Marvel will bring Gwen Stacy back. How should they do it?
:o Slight overeaction, non?
