I think God wants me to quit my job and find something else.

What kind of car are you trading, give me some stats, year, make, model, and miles? I can tell you what they're really giving you for it. I have access to the auction values which is what dealerships use for evaluating a trade.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am; SE; 4cylinder, 2.2L; power doors, locks; parking break is busted at the mo (pry a cable), 96k for miles; silver, 4 door, stick shift; basic package; nothing else extra . . .

I'm upside down in my loan so I have to get rid of it . . .

How long have you had it? The dealer that low balled you, what was their offer, 2500 or 3500?

yeah . . . and I only mean they lowballed me in terms of what I was offerred yesterday, even though I felt cheated . . .

I'm the original owner; had it since 2003

the real reason I need to get rid of this piece of shiitte on wheels is because I've had to replace (in the few years I've had it since it was BRAND new, and no accidents) is:

Power steering pump
fuel pump
master cylinder (for the clutch)
driver side mirror

and like I said, my parking break is busted, plus:

-my driver side window controls came unglued from the door
-the windshield molding came loose on the passenger side
-my window control buttons don't light up
-my dome light doesn't work on 'door' function
-the car inexplicably stalls for no reason sometimes when at a stop light
-heating controls only work on '5'

now I know that wear and tear accounts for some things if the car is not properly taken car of, but I don't deserve for all these things, as small as they may be to go wrong w/ a car when I got it BRAND NEW

you know . . . this just dawned on me . . . maybe they're lowballing me too (or fairballing me I guess I could say), and the $5k includes what I'm putting down ($1500) :~S

car dealerships use a car evaluation program called Mannheim. It's one of the top auto auction companies out there and 95% of car dealerships use it. 3500 is what they have that car listed at. Now, a dealership can offer an allowance of 60% over the actual value of a car. Get a new car, rebates can take up the slack of negative equity.

I really don't want to get a brand new car again though . . . my payment pry wouldn't even go down if that were the case . . .

I'm really wondering if I should wait til after tax time or til the end of the month or something to act though . . .

My personal opinion is if you want to buy a car, buy it before December 31, that way you don't have to pay taxes on it again until the following year.

That's an old wives tale. New cars are actually cheaper than used cars in the long run, less maintenance, lower insurance.

I know but I had such a bad experience with this last car which was brand new that I'm weary . . . although I blame that more on the manufacturer . . .

If you want to go foreign, look at Mitsubishi. They're probably my favorite of the Asian made cars.

I sell cars for living. While what we do selling cars is completely legal in the eyes of the law, it's not entirely honest. For some reason for the past several weeks, everytime I open a Bible, it always opens to the same chapter and section of scripture.

This is the section that is always where I open the Bible too. I know some of you guys don't believe in God or the Bible, but I do so tell me if this is the interpretation you're getting.

Ephesians 5:6-14
6 Don't be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible anger of God comes upon all those who disobey him. 7 Don't participate in the things these people do. 8 For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
10 Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them. 12 It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. 13 But when the light shines on them, it becomes clear how evil these things are. 14 And where your light shines, it will expose their evil deeds.

Are you making a good living?

see your book always opening to the same place should tell you that the spine has gone a bit funny.

1. I am not an Atheist. I think Atheism is foolish.
When will people get this?

2. This same apparent "higher meaning" being randomly found repeatedly has happened to me with all sorts of books. Always landing on a part of the Bible that warns you not to sin is,...uh...there's a VERY good chance that's going to happen. :o:o

maybe you need to repeat that whole long post about it a few more times. perhaps in the new athiesm thread to be on topic.

I enjoy working there. I have some great co workers, the hours are ok, but my conscience is starting to get to me. I've started being honest with people and I'm not making as much money as before.

zoid jesus says get a job

feelings about religion aside....I feel all sales people are scum regardless....and while I wouldnt base my career choices on what the worlds best selling piece of fiction says, if you dont feel good doing it then find something else. Being a sales person is like being a lawyer, you have to have an ethics/morality switch that you can turn on and off at will......some people can do it, some cant

If you like what you are doing, enjoy where you are doing it and the people you are doing it with, then perhaps it's time to take a fresh look at your job rather than just abandoning it altogether. Instead of just having a mission to sell as many cars to as many suckers as you possibly can, maybe it becomes about helping people find the right car for them and steering them through the minefield of crap that most car lots have sitting on them to the true gems that they will be happy with and get great quality and price out of. Sort of like the Robin Hood of the car lot. I know one thing about sales; do people right and give them a good deal on quality merchandise, they will be back to buy again from no one else but you and they will bring friends.

she i can agree and disagree with that, where as i wouldn't call my self a sales person as i would some who who worked in a speciality department though i do work in a shop, and the utter s**t we have to put up with from ignorant customer and just kept smiling and saying nothing would make your head spin. there are two side to all story's

Well, looks like I got out of the car business in time. My old boss is having a hell of a time right now. Bill Heard is shutting the doors to a store that's almost 100 years old.
