The Dark Knight Rises Ideas For Incorporating Characters Into the Nolanverse

another idea is what villains could be paired up easily..interms of having one pulling the strings for the other..ifor exampe the riddler he could be having other characters or lesser know villains doing things for him in attempts to keep his identity secret..kind of like in batman begins with Raz and Scarecrow

I've been tossing around the idea of Riddler working for Talia and The League of Shadows or Riddler and Mad Hatter working together. The latter though, however would work more in a cartoon methinks because you run with mind control. The first though works because Riddler could be the puppet while Talia could be the puppeteer.

Although, then you run into the problem where Riddler is alot like what Scarecrow was for Rahs.

It wasn't the name, it was just the League isn't a crime organisation of any sorts. I wasn't trying to be a prick or anything.

As for your idea? It isn't bad. Personally I don't like the idea of Ras Al Ghul being a title rather than Liam Neeson's character from Batman Begins, but the overall idea for how to introduce her isn't bad. The best thing about it to me is the idea of her using the alias of Ras. With Bruce having left Ras to die, it'd play on his mind that he may have survived - when it's just more cheap parlour tricks.

hi every one thanks for the welcome,i always think 2 seconds ahead, i think if they do the riddler as the same type as that person on the phone in eagle eye that might be cool, f**king with peoples minds for fun all the while watching, and and have him eventually target bruce or someone close to him and give him more umph to catch him.

any one need me to say that again?

I was thinking of the comics, didn't remember the movie's name for the group but I meant the movie's group. I read a comic, Superman/Batman Generations where they mention Ras' Crime Syndicate and the thing stuck with me I guess.

I am glad you liked the idea. I was just thinking that Ras could be just a name so that it wouldn't have started with Liam's character. But the main idea I was focusing on was that Talia uses her father's identity to fake him still being alive. Glad you liked it.

Mr. Zsasz - we had a ref in Begins I believe.

Hush - Though it may be a bit early for this one

Mad Hatter

Talia

They all would fit, and since this is a Trilogy Talia provides the tie to the first movie. Though Joker would have been the perfect follow up.

What about Doodlebug? A crappy artist with delusions of grandeur who doesn't get enough attention, so he starts killing people and using their blood to create his "masterpieces". I think he could suit Nolans Bat-verse quite well

I could see Doodlebug as a member of a guantlet of villains. Sending like Firefly, Gearhead, Doodlebug and a few others at Batman which I believe is what Bane did so that he could watch batman work so he could fight him later (something like that  i think).

Killer Croc- I would see him as a man who has one or more of the following skin conditions.

Poison Ivy - After years of working with toxic chemicals, her body has developed an immunity to every known natural toxin on earth. she infuses these toxins in plants and begins to market them to gotham. killing the citizens in the process.

Mr. Freeze - The govt is adapting a new technology for clearing forests. Rather than use fire, which is unstable, dr. freeze creates a device that uses concentrated liquid N02 to freeze trees so they can be taken down. he sees the benefit of this by using the gun to get through doors and safe locks.

The Riddler - Tall and thin, theis man has won every MENSA tournament there is. His reward is a set of gold questionmark cufflinks and a gold questionmark lapel pin. hes dressed in a black suit, black shirt, green tie, lapel pin in middle of tie. I for some reason see him with a long black pony tail and a sniper rifle.

Penguin - Head of the "arc-tec" company, the man looks no different than any other human being. But it just so happens that he runs late for a heist that was planned on the same day as a wedding. He shows up in a tux and his thugs react, "What the hell are you suppoed to be? Showing up here as a F***n Penguin!" The name sticks and the penguin proceded to shoot anyone who refers to him with that name, as it greatly annoys him.

If I were doing The Penguin and he were a main villain, I would want him exciting but still more realistic then Burton's. He would be a sicko still but also one who loved his rich tastes. Kind of a high bred between the 2 interpretations.

I would make him short, fat, greasy, extremely ugly and constantly eating those little herrings out of the can giving him a fish smell. He keeps tons of birds, (and if you want to get real freakish he even feeds some of them like a mother bird to a baby bird). He does have a few trick umbrellas, none that can fly or anything but maybe one with a machine gun or flame thrower.

Despite all the weirdness of this guy, he would be surrounded by beautiful women, drink bloody mary's and smoke expensive cigars. Basically the theme would be the true power of money. The character is so rich, that despite being extremely grotesque he can still live the high life and no one can tell him a thing. This would be my model.

I've grown up a bit since I last posted on this thread, and I have some new ideas.

The problem with including multiple villains in other superhero movies is thus: The villains only work together out of a mutual hatred of the hero. Think about Sandman and Venom in Spider-Man 3. Think about Catwoman and the Penguin in Batman Returns. Think about Two-Face and the Riddler in Batman Forever. They didn't work. What makes Nolan's franchise so interesting is that the villains fit together. Almost like a puzzle. Warp one villain, and you have to warp every other villain you plan on including. Replace Sandman with Electro, and all that changes is the way a few fight sequences play out. Two-Face could have easily been replaced with the Black Mask, Tony Zucco, or just about any mobster-type villain in Batman Returns with minimal adjustments to the plot. Now, replace Scarecrow with Killer Croc or Nolan's Joker with the Riddler...and the entire movie changes. Having the Scarecrow a key part to Ra's al Ghul's destruction of Gotham; having the Joker a critical component to Harvey Dent's decline into madness...we haven't seen that before in superhero movies. So I'm going to attempt to fit as many villains as I can together in the way Nolan would want it, not the way any other director would.

Here goes:

As much as I love how so many of you have done the Riddler, I have a different idea. My Riddler would be based on the character L from the anime/manga Death Note. To anyone unfamiliar with Death Note, L is the world's greatest detective and aids the police in finding the identity behind the Kira killer. That right there could make for a great Riddler. Instead of having him be some serial killer or whatnot, have him aid Gordon (and maybe even an appearance from Bullock) in capturing Batman. Also, when L is first introduced, he was an unseen character. He only communicated with the police through a laptop. Whenever L spoke to them, the letter "L" in fancy looking calligrophy appeared on the screen. Replace that "L" with "?" and you have a Riddler. For most of the film, leave the Riddler off-screen. Only bring him on near the showdown at the end. A great way to work the Riddler into the other villains would be to simultaneously have him manipulating the cops and other villains in Gotham so that they can all take on the Bat at once.

Another great character to adapt would be Hush. However, don't include the Hush character! How can this be done, you might ask? Simple - just include Tommy Elliot. Have him in Gotham for Rachel's funeral. The biggest change about this Elliot would be his motivation. Instead of greed driving him, make Elliot blame Rachel's death on Batman. Have him HATE Batman the same way Harry Osborn hated Spider-Man in Spider-Man 2. Just don't dress him up. We saw what happened to Harry once that happened in Spider-Man 3...I don't want a repeat of that.

Hugo Strange would be very simple - make him be Crane's replacement as the Director of Arkham Asylum. Ta Dah!

Firefly would also be pretty easy. Have him appear in the first few minutes of the film like Scarecrow in TDK to show how badly crime in Gotham has escalated.

The rest fit together like pieces of a puzzle...

Make Gotham in a state of chaos. Sal Maroni's death left Gotham's underworld with a power vacuum. On one hand, there's Roman Sionis, Maroni's right-hand-man and true successor. On the other is Rupert Thorne, a once small-time crook making the most out of Maroni's death. And there's a mob war between them. Normally, Thorne wouldn't be able to lift a finger against Sionis, but Thorne's men are armed with better weapons. Thorne buys his weapons from a big-time black market dealer known only as the Penguin.

The Penguin, in this film, would run the Iceberg Lounge as a front for his arms deals. The name "The Penguin" isn't a gimmicky name the newspapers give him, but is an alias. The Penguin is to Oswald Cobblepot as The Godfather is to Vito Corleone, Scarface to Al Capone, The Roman to Carmine Falcone, etc.

Sionis, desperate, puts a bounty on Batman's head so he can recruit new and better muscle. One of the people that responds to the bounty would be Lady Shiva. But the bounty idea doesn't work as well as Sionis had hoped, and turns to a recently fired exec from Wayne Enterprises.

Dr. Victor Fries was once the head of Wayne Enterprises' science department, but was fired because he embezzled millions from the company. What Bruce Wayne didn't know was that Fries embezzled all the money to keep his wife alive in a cryogenic sleep. Desperate to keep her alive, he turns to the mob. Roman Sionis offers to fund his wife's cryogenic tank if Fries can build him weapons to compete with Thorne and the Penguin. He develops battle armor and a gun that fires the exact opposite of Napalm. However, Sionis is displeased with Fries' weapons, citing their expense, and cuts his funding. Fries later dons the armor and picks up his gun and attempts to assassinate Sionis.

(By the way, FRIES would be pronounced the same as FREEZE, so there's no reason to include that stupid name)

However, Sionis lives (although is now deformed) and is sent to Arkham Asylum (now under the careful eye of Hugo Strange). In Arkham, he hears tales of a powerful Venezuelan vigilante known only as Bane. After being set free from Arkham (Strange pulls some deal with him - haven't thought that through yet), Sionis dons a black mask to cover his deformities and pays for Bane to be his bodyguard, to protect him from Thorne and now Fries.

And thus, I get my laugh in. Bane originally fills the role of the mindless henchman. However, he gets fed up with it and eventually kills Sionis. Bane reveals his intelligence at this point. This would mainly be a little joke to poke fun at Schumacher's Bane.

That's all I have for now, what do you people think? I've also been thinking of some casting ideas - some unknown Bollywood actress for Shiva, Edward Norton as Tommy Elliot, Laurence Fishburne as Fries. Freeze can be black...?

wuoldnt they make prototypes of the nomek survival suit for mutiple enviroments? maybe that could be something for freeze.
and please i feel rejected someone say hi at least

Hi. And welcome to the Hype.

I'm not sure this will work for a Nolan film and I'm sure most of you guys have read something similer before but here's my pathetic take on the next film. Again this is just a stupid idea and not ment to be taken seriously.

The Joker and Two-Face pretty much left the criminal underworld in shambles in TDK, Roman Sionis who was once the head of a major cosmetics company untill it nearly went bankrupt because of improper testing of a new beauty product which left several people disfigured is forced to resign as head of his own company and is bought out by Wayne Enterprises. After this his fiancee Selina Kyle who unknown to him is at the time is a thrill seeking jewel thief known as the Catburgler leaves him and he vows revenge against Wayne Corp, Wayne himself and of course Selina. He then creates a black skull mask and uses what's left of his money and rounds up whats left of the criminal underworld who are in a gang war and unites them and becomes the leader of all the major crime syndicates and gangs and begins his reign of terror targeting high ranking employees of Wayne Enterprises and people close to Bruce and Selina Kyle including perhaps Alfred and/or Lucius and Selina's sister. Batman rescues Alfred and/or Lucius but fails to rescue Selina's sister who is murdered. Selina is now decides to hunt down Black Mask and his gang and becomes Catwoman.

While Batman is trying to fight the mob led by Black Mask as well as being hunted by police and as Bruce Wayne is in the public eye because his employees are being kidnapped by BLM's gang, enter The Riddler a serial killer to further complicate Batman's life. Riddler sends riddles to the press giving them a 7 day deadline to figure out the puzzle or he will kill a new victim primarily prominant Gotham citizins. But the Riddler decides to break his pattern and kidnapps Commissioner Gordon who was able to solve one of The Reddler's puzzels and save a victim and gives the police (and Batman) three days to find him before he's killed so Batman must track him down. And to make matters worse Batman now has to contend with Catwoman who has become a vigilante who slowly becomes more violent.

Well anyway I don't really have an idea of an ending except Selina kills Black Mask (possibly to save Batman). I was also toying with the idea the Bruce and Sionis were bestfriends at one point instead of childhood enimies since in TDK Harvy barely knew Bruce and in the comics they were once good friends but I admit that may be pushing it. I'll also admit having Catwoman as Black Mask's former fiancee may also be pushing it as well as Riddler breaking his pattern since he's an obsessive compulsive but hey this is just an idea floating around in my head and I really doubt the next movie will be anything like I described above :whatever: Anyways feel free to tear it apart now lol.

Could one of Sionis's cosmetics be called Lazarus? This would be an interesting way to adapt the Lazarus Pit into Nolan's universe, as well as provide a connection between Sionis and Talia al Ghul similar to Falcone's and Crane's connection to Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins.

Pamela Isley presides over a secretive group of college eco-terrorists intent to advance a cause that will 'educate' American industry by spreading extremely toxic Oleander fumes into factory warehouses. Her botany professor traces missing samples of poisonous plants to the dorms of several students and contacts the FBI. In revenge for squandering her team's mission, Isley releases the remaining Oleander on her former campus during midday, poisoning hundreds and killing several dozen. In order to finish her mission before potential apprehension, she mails letters embedded with lethal levels of poison ivy to select industrial leaders in Gotham; the press conceives her criminal identity as ‘Poison Ivy’.
