Incredible Hulk director has been picked!

guys i just realised something. i like HULK the movie. i didnt before. i think i didnt like it because so many other people were saying it wasnt good and the people i went to see it with kept saying through out the film they didnt like it. but i wathced in a movie channel the other day and realised what a great film it is. Eric Bana,Jenniffer Connelly, josh lucas, nick nolte and sam elliotte all put in great performances. the action was great and even though hulk is known for trashing things i think it had just the right balance of action for the first film in a could be well respected franchise(im thinking trilogy). also the film had a lot of emotional parts in it and the story of banner was handled so well. ang lee made it heart breaking which hulks story should be told as. emotion is one of the many reasons i enjoyed the first 2 x-men movies(hated part3) and the spiderman movies.(blade was cool. which is what was meant to be expected for the character blade even tho trinity was ****-i thought fantastic4 was ok could have been much better same goes for daredevil)

all that being said im glad they are making HULK2 but i hope it isnt a remake. i dont mind of more action is added its 2 be expected but keep the story and character then we could have a great sequel on our hands.

i know some people will love me for what im about to say but some will definatly hate me 4 it. i honestly wouldnt mind the return of ang lee as long as he is talked into adding more heart racing action scenes.

i must admit i cringed when i heard the name rob cohen mentioned. people who back this guy let me give u a few examples of money wasted.

daylight
dragon heart
the fast and the furious
xxx
stealth

nuff sed.

but one final note if bana, connelly and elliotte dont return then i wouldnt want the film to be made. no re-casts please.

The only thing that would get Michael Bay to do the Hulk is if Transformers bombed.

Thanks, i think he is available after mid-2007 as well
I hope he starts earlier. Its always good to have a director on board from the start to finish.

When the annoucement is made -whoever it is- i expect this place to go crazy!

I think Transformers will be the bomb of all bombs. July 4th isn't such a great weekend if you don't have good product. If your movie isn't just plain awesome people would rather be at parties, bbq's, the beach, etc...It can be a very lucrative or dissapointing weekend and honestly I won't be caught dead in the theatre on a Holiday weekend to see Transformers. Hell no. At least that's my opinion as of right now. There's just no established characters that would interest an adult so they're going to have to make one interesting and with that general storyline I find it hard to believe they'll come close to a Captain Sparrow. If it makes over 200 million I'd be shocked. I'm expecting this movie to hurt Michale Bay but it's not going to be because of his direction. He can direct films just fine...it's the material.

First off Daylight was a decent disaster flick, Dragon Heart? I loved that film but I didn't think he made that. He made Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story which is one of my favorite films of all time. FATF & XXX were both fun films as well. Nobody's looking for Oscars here so let's separate the Directors agenda from yours.

Yeah, that's what i've been saying too. Sooner a director is hired the better.

Yeah it will go crazy. Different fans skewing the news for their own points of view.:doom:

I think you are underestimating TF here AD, i think it will be a better movie than FF2 for one and i think it will make more money. But i also thought SR would be a smash hit so who knows. But here in the U.K Transformers is very popular, and i will definately be going to see it.

I think Transformers is still a real wildcard right now but I do think alot of people are underestimating its fanbase out there.

I don't know about that, that fanbase will largely be made out of people who saw G1 during the 80's. Will they swallow some half-baked tripe that doesn't really resemble those characters? I hope for Transformers sake they manage to put out a movie that atleast tries to compete with the excellent animated film. Although with Bay there I find that hard to believe.:(
Ah well if it all falls down. They can just move on to doing a Beast Wars movie. I really did prefer that series more anyway. :)

Of course you don't know that is what I just said...lol. Nobody knows hence the wildcard statement. It will either hit big or miss big. I know that it has a big fanbase but that is not what will determine its success. The main factor will be whether the younger crowd of today will eat it up or not. We shall see next year.

Yeap. :) Bay could ruin it on the outset just by screwing up Optimus.

Rob Cohen is a bad director. i must admit out of all those films daylight is the only decent film but still its nothing special. HULK2 should be a special film not just another film to pass us by. all of cohens other films are terrible. i didnt even bother going to see stealth and i bet i aint the only one who didnt. but as i havent seen it it might actually be good. lol.

Michael Bay could be a perfect director or he could not be a good choice.

Bad Boys-everybody loved this film when it came out. great debut. great action. great dialogue. great plot(for a action film). great directing.

The Rock-not sure if everybody loved this film. i did and im sure there are many other fans of the film. all the same as above for the greats.

Armageddon-great drama/action flick. great success and directed really well.

Pearl Harbour-success and not a success. people said Bay couldnt make his mind up if he was tryin to make a romance picture,a action picture or a history lesson with this movie. personally i thought it was a great film. pretty ****ty cast apart beckinsale:) and voight. look at the action scenes and u could say bay fits the part for a hulk film.

i would talk about bad boys2 and the isalnd more but im off out in abit so ill end the post with this they are both great action films with greta directing and good storys and script. i think anyway.

being a michael bay fan i would be happy for him to direct hulk2 or hulk3 but i cant see him being picked because of the transformers. him being busy with that will exclude him from the list and if its a success i bet sequels are made. bye.

Top five choices for Hulk 2 (and it better be Hulk 2 and not a remake)

1. Ang Lee (oh well, not gonna happen)
2. Doug Liman (Bourne Identity)
3. James McTeague (V for Vendetta)
4. Paul Greengrass (Bourne Supremacy)
5. Ridley Scott (not gonna happen)

Doug Liman would be perfect. The Bourne movies are perfect examples of action through out without sacrificing story.

Greengrass is doing The Bourne Ultimatum. He's not going to waste his time with a failed franchise.

I dont think any of them are available.

WIth Ironman getting 2008, that pushes Hulk to 2009 no? Though I have doubts about that as that will be the projected year for a fourth spidey film.

Even if its late summer 2008, any of those directors could be available to film next spring. Though Wolverine is most likely summer 2008 as well along with Batman Begins 2. Wow, its really starting to get crowded out there for superheros. I wonder if Hulk is going to get Feb release like DD and Ghost Rider.

Arg, just announce the director already.

Hulk will be Summer 2009. All 12 Marvel studios film (per the financing arrangements w/Merril) must be Summer releases. They may allow around XMAS holidays but the contract terms I saw said Summer.

Does that include Hulk 2? I thought that agreement wouldn't include it due to the film being partnered with Universal rather than Paramount? Or have they added it since?

No it will be included. Merril has to approve it but if they'll take the risk to finance Cloak & Dagger & Hawkeye they'll be no issue getting approval for Iron Man and Hulk. LOL So one way or another the financing will take care of these two films.
