Incredible Hulk director has been picked!

That's my guesstimate. Summer 08 already has Batman, Iron Man, Avatar, Die Hard 4, Wolverine, Narnia 2, and many more films jockying for position. Hulk needs some room to smash. :)

After my analogy with Alien('79) & Aliens('86) in reply to CJ(from HM forum). I realised how apt a analogy it was.
There was 8 years between those two films. And that time didn't limit it, it kicked ass didn't it? If they can change Hulk from 'Alien' into Aliens(bigger, more fun, bigger success) in a sequel then i'm all for it.
I'm happy to wait. :) :hulk:

T1 and T2 were that long apart too... then again, aliens and T2 had one thing in common, James Cameron :(

I'm fine with a Hulk release date for 2009 or 2010. Anything before 2009 doesn't give it much of a chance to set itself apart from all the other movies. 2009 should also have Captain America filming, and Ant-Man on the screen. :)

Yeah, that's the one weakness to that analogy. :( :down

Big difference here is Alien blew people away. There hadn't been a movie like that ever. "No one can hear you scream in space" What a teaser that was.

Wait a sec, I thought you said Aliens was a make-over not a sequel to Alien

maybe that russian guy is the new Cameron ;)

I bet my money that Ant-Man is going to be a comedy. :(

I'm really wondering who the new director is for Hulk. Be sure to get us answers AD!

Ant-Man will probably be an action comedy like the FF. I think it's going to be fun as hell and me much better than people think. The new Hulk director will likely be revealed this week before the comic-con maybe but surely by the 22nd at the panel. :)

David Twohy is rising on my list though he hasn't pulled ahead of Del Toro yet he's close.

^ No the director they want wont' be available till 2009. I'm sure they might even annouce who the director is by the comic-con as well for Cap. Spielberg wants it I"m sure of it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it will as well. Especially with the only "discovering the power to shrink" scenario. I just don't want it to be a type of "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" kind of film. I hope we see some good scene utilizing that power.

Who do you think will be Ant-Man, Hank Pym?

And you said you gave up.
A makeover is a sequel. Didn't you read my makeup analogy?
Everytime I explain what i'm saying a makeover would be it's always the same. The "start over" is when you start fresh with a new series of films that aren't sequels that follow a new continuity. As would happen if they restarted and used a new origin, new cast, new continuity etc.
Take Spider-man 1 and 2. That was a straight normal sequel, not a make-over. There was no change of direction, it followed the same sort of plotting, same cast, same themes, same tone and presentation. Now compare the lack of change in the status quo with all the changes Cameron made to Aliens when similarly compared to Alien. They are different films. He made over what an Alien film was. Giving it a larger audience in return. And a sizeable amount of people would rate Aliens better than Alien(although I prefer the original's tense atmosphere). :marv:

Creesus. Spielberg would own on CA. I remember reading Avi Arad said that about the director he had in mind. If you look at his Imdb page, he doesn't have a film lined up for 09. And especially with what he did in "Saving Private Ryan", I'd love to have him direct Cap. We can only hope.

I do. I give up. I have no idea where you are getting definitions from Ions but I give up. I guess Batman 3 & 4 arnt sequels either because the tone was different from 1 :down

Edit: At lease you and I can agree that Alien was better than the sequel, Aliens.

"Incredible Hulk" should be an August Movie.. lots of room for smashing the remaining competition.. tentpoles have already been released..

They're all freaking sequels to the general public. Most aren't seamless continuations like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, but they're sequels...not direct like the ones I mentioned but they're sequels.

Um....maybe because Ant-Man started OFF as a solo character in Tales To Astonish, long before he JOINED The Avengers?

After watching Marvel take a relatively unknown character like Blade and turn that into a multi-million dollar generating machine, i think they've proved that any of their characters are worthy of a shot at the big screen, provided they get the proper script and direction.

As long as they make the Ant-Man character Scott Lang and not Hank Pym I'll be happy. Hank Pym deserves more respect then producing a comedy mocking superheroes ALA My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Save Hank for the Avengers feature film as Giant Man or Yellowjacket. And please, none of that wife beating crap.

I just e-mailed David Twohy at [email protected] to see if there's any chance he could be involved in this. He actually has a cool website with some forums to discuss his movies and it sounds like his upcoming films: The Would Be Warrior, The Break, & the Brazillian Job are gonna be fun. I also noticed he's doing stuff for Paramount now so he'd more likely be doing Deathlok than dealing with The Hulk from what I understand about distributors.

Funny with FTG and Naeriksgurl both understanding my definition.

Yeah Alien was excellent.
