Charlotte G in ID2 is as random as Juliette B in Godzilla but maybe it will be the same kind of role, 5 minutes tops of screen-time.
I'm waiting for Daniel D Lewis casting in Transformers.

Brent Spiner returning as Dr. Brackish Okun.

Coulda sworn his character died, but I haven't seen the original in years.

Maybe I'm not remembering right but I thought he had died...

His mind was taken over but I guess they can always explain it away that once they shot the alien controlling him, he went back to normal or something.

I'm sure they'll play something in the sequel where he can mentally communicate with the alien species now cause he had that connection.

He was dead in the first one. Adam Baldwin checked his pulse, then just stood up. No calling for help or anything.

Maybe he'll be in some archive videos or something.

Yeah, but this is "movie world" and as we've seen time and time again, bringing characters back from the dead is done all the time. Unless they blow up. But even then sometimes.

It's the easiest thing in the world to say he was comatose.

Believe it or not I have a cheap Independence Day spin off paperback where Dr. Okun is the main character.

A.I. perhaps?

I mean, this is a world where they've been able to experiment with alien tech for 20 years...

More old faces...

I was not expecting them to bring back Judd Hirsch's character. I thought he was at least 70 in the first one. Turns out he was only 60.

Maika Monroe, the star of horror breakout It Follows, has nabbed the female lead of Fox’s high-profile Independence Day 2 sequel.
Roland Emmerich is directing the project, which has a mix of old and new on its roll call. Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jessie Usher are among the newcomers while Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch are reprising their roles from the 1994 original.

Should a deal make, Monroe will play the daughter of the President of the United States, played by Pullman. She would also be the love interest to Hemsworth’s character.
The part was highly sought-after and required several rounds of testing. Monroe beat out several other actresses for the part, including Lucy Boynton, Merritt Patterson, Gabriella Wilde and Britt Robertson.

I wished they brought back Mae Whitman...for continuity sake since everyone else is pretty much back.

Sure but if you've seen The Guest and It Follows, then you know that her - dubbed the Modern Scream Queen - replacement is amazing.

She is great i just worry the movie will suck. time will tell

Still disappointing that they've managed to get everyone to return, with Will Smith being the lone exception. Oh well. :csad:

People forget how insanely huge the original film was back in the summer of '96, commercially speaking. It was such an enormous hit and there was a lot of hype leading up to it's release.

The marketing and buildup for ID4 was absolutely fantastic. It really felt like one of those very rare "event movies" that wasn't a franchise...

Everyone just HAD to see it.

They recast Mae Whitman's role when she's still in the game and was just the lead of a semi-successful movie?

Yeah, I'm gonna hard pass.
