They recast Mae Whitman's role when she's still in the game and was just the lead of a semi-successful movie?

Same here. BS when they went out of the way to bring everyone else back.

Mae Whitman played her bit-part in ID4 almost 20 years ago. Recasting a role after that much time has passed isn't exactly unheard of regardless of the actor or actresses age. For all we know Mae didn't want to be involved in this film. I'm certainly not going to boycott the film because of this. Frankly I just don't care about Mae's career prospects. If her agent wasn't able to campaign her for the role or she didn't care enough to fight for it that's on them.

Beside Maika is pretty and a good actress so it's a win in my book.

So why didn't they do that with everyone else? And for what it is worth, I'd take Whitman everyday of the week in terms of talent and pretty.

Well to be fair, they didn't bring back the kid that played Vivica's son in the first one either. As to why they were able to bring everyone else back? Well...they're pretty well established actors with some pretty high profiles.

Plus, they were main characters in the first movie. Whereas again, her role was pretty small in the first one. And this is coming from a guy who did want her back.

Cause everyone was an adult when they were cast. She was like 8 years old. Not saying it's right or wrong, just that they hardly ever cast the same kid as the adult version years later (even if they're still in the acting game).

Look at poor Edward Furlong. He was the right age to play John Connor in Terminator 3 and they passed him up.

Just read about the Mae Whitman recasting. So... dumb. The main reason to have cast her again is simply the fact that she's still active as a (pretty good) actress -- but she most definitely is hot, nevermind hot "enough". I was pervily googling her just days ago. She's pretty and I would have loved to see that kind of pretty as the star of a big action film. Shame how clueless this is.
