We should at least get a Randy Quaid alien in the sequel. Could you imagine an army of Randy Quaid aliens?:hehe:

I was thinking earlier and I'm not for sure if anyone else noticed this but this is on the verge of technically becoming the first real definitive alien invasion franchise.

Ok, an ID sequel I can get behind (despite it's disappointing lack of Will Smith-iness). But THREE ID sequels, IDK about that. The plot was already simple enough in the first film (which worked fine), but how do you spread that out over four films without it getting repetitive?

Maybe they are splitting one story into 3 parts, like ID 2 will be the buildup to the next invasion, ID 3 will be the invasion & ID4 will deal with the aftermath & recovery.

I still find it odd that Charlotte Gainsbourg is in the movie.

i watched enough Emmerich movies in my life that i know what her role will be and how she will play it.

Makes me wonder how powerful China is in that fictional universe. China really wasn't on the radar as a global superpower in 1996, and may have suffered proportionally less damage than the United States and the other countries referenced in ID4, so they may have been able to rebuild bigger and faster than everybody else.

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2 Synopsis Revealed

After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

Yes but China's development in the past twenty years is based off exports to the USA.

If they want to be rigorous, Japan and Germany are probably very powerful.

That's okay I guess, nothing bad ever happened in the world when those two countries were the world's superpowers while the United States was intensely focussed on rebuilding itself.

Well, if they want a rich mytholovy they have all the ingrediants.

The first movie had every other country just, sitting on their asses and waiting for MERRICCAA to save the day. Given Emmerich's track record, I doubt that any other country comes out of this looking good.

Seriously. I loved it in the first one when another military (was it the English?) were like "Sir, the American's are mounting a counter-offensive!" "Well it's about bloody time!". :funny:

Maybe they should've noted other attempts had failed.
