Interstellar - Part 3

I think the reason why the clip excites me so much is because what it potentially has in store. That along with Matthew's eyes tearing up and the clip of the people holding hands watching that ship/satellite go up into space gives me that exact uneasy and almost creepily ominous feeling that Inception still gives me.

I know that's a weird feeling to get towards a clip with a somewhat "cheerful" musical cue playing in the background but it still gives me those weird vibes.

Nolan & Hoytema's work is looking on point.

I would not say the script is creepy, I think it's actually more....sad really then anything. But I get the feeling this will be an emotional film for sure.

Matthew is on fire these past few years, for a while he was doing a lot of meh movies, and now with Dallas Buyers Club, Mud, The Wolf of Wall Street, Interstellar, he's just showing how amazing of an actor he really is.

It's good to see him making better choices. I always felt he did a great job in A Time To Kill, but then he started doing a bunch of very silly films. Cash grabs I guess? He seems to have figured it out in the last few years and now starting to live up to his potential.

Folks outside of the US are having trouble apparently accessing the page.

Ya I loved A Time To Kill, he was great in it, but then ya he just started making a lot of odd decisions. But I agree it's great to see him showing the world his acting abilities.

However...he was awesome in Tropic Thunder lol.

Killer Joe, Lincoln Lawyer, and Bernie really got him back to form.

He was awesome in Lincoln Lawyer.

So Casey Affleck, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo, David Gyasi and Matt Damon haven't gotten top billing. Weird.

isn't Michael Caine's part supposed to be really small?

i guess it wouldn't be a modern Nolan movie without "AND MICHAEL CAINE."

i can't tell much of anything from the clip. which is fine, it's an early teaser, but i'm glad i won't be expecting much from the full thing when i see DoS tomorrow.

since it's Nolan and Hoytema i'm sure the movie will look great, but i dunno that i would even say i could tell that much from this. who knows if the three shots or so that are supposedly from the movie will even be in the movie?

i love some of Lee Smith's work but i would have kinda liked to see that be a new collaborator for Nolan, as well, and see this movie with a different editing style from the past few Nolan movies. but i know Nolan and Zimmer are making a concerted effort to do something different this time with the music, maybe that will also be true of Nolan and Smith with the editing.

What? Lee and Nolan have been a superb collaboration, and one I hope they continue.

What is Mathew referring to when he says "Our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us"? We hear this line juxtaposed with a teary eyed Mathew leaving something, possibly the two people that we see holding hands watching the ascending rocket. Could that be his family? Is he referring to his spawn when he says greatest accomplishment? Is it the classic dilemma of a man leaving for something greater than his family? Very Close Encounters. I can see why Spielberg wanted to direct this. Though I think Mathew's character will be less nonchalant than Richard was in Close Encounters.

i don't disagree, i just feel like this movie could use a different editorial touch (and i didn't care for how certain parts of TDKR were edited, but that's more an outlying example). it may still have a different feel to it, though, who knows. certainly the Lee/Nolan combo has yielded a lot more good than bad and some absolutely outstanding stuff, too.

A few seconds of a bootlegged teaser – I still got goosebumps.

His two kids. He leaves them to go to the space expedition.

His wife is dead of course. :hehe:

everyone's wife is dead in the future. this is a movie about dead wives, on a global scale.

Can someone PM the clip to me?

EDIT: Looks like it's been taken down.

Nolan previously worked with Dody Dorn, who did a great job on Memento and Insomnia. She didn't work on Batman Begins because she was off doing Kingdom of Heaven with Ridley Scott, and that was when Nolan asked Lee Smith to edit BB. (And they have been inseparable ever since.)

Nothing against the Nolan/Smith combo, but I would love to see Dorn work with Nolan again. She's a terrific editor.

i am used watching Nolan movies in summer. novembeeeeeeeeeer
