Is that a poster or a demonstration of what not to on a circumcision table?

everything ties back to corn

lmao!

I think it's getting a lot of undue praise just because of who is involved. If it were almost any other director there would be a lot more complaints about how little of the actual film it shows.

Right. Not everything has to be a 2 minute and 30 second trailer that basically tells the whole movie.

Which is then stupidly broken down by nerds in a "trailer frame by frame commentary"

"Okay now what can we tell by this car going past the camera?"

I'm really interested in the look of this film with Pfister gone and Hoyte Van Hoytema taking over the cinematography.

Yeah, the choice doesnt have to be between two extremes.

The teaser didn't really show anything to be excited about in my view but it did remind me a bit of oldschool Spielberg.

I thought it was fine as an announcement teaser but I'm damn sure not going to get on anyone for being disappointed or not liking it. I was pretty much flamed for not liking the Days of Future Past trailer. I know how Nolan fans can get so hopefully people are allowed to not be impressed.

Interstellar is based on a story treatment by physicist Kip Thorne. For those of you unfamiliar, Kip Thorne is one of the leading researchers out there on black holes, time travel, et cetera. He's co-written "the book" on gravity, called "Gravitation" with John Wheeler and Charles Misner.

Back in 2010 or so, I was a teaching assistant for an undergraduate astronomy for non-science majors class dealing with black holes, this was the textbook (not the same as the book mentioned above):

Most "science for non-scientists" books are awful, but this one was quite good, well-written and coherent with a balance of science and history of science. It talked about physicists living in the soviet union and that sort of thing. The end of the book has a fun chapter which provides a solution to the so-called grandfather paradox.

Agree. Everyone reacts differently. Agree with you on DOFP by the way. Looks kinda messy to me.

People, look at the underlying message of the teaser. It's reminding us that we use to be in awe of the achievements made by pioneers in the past and how we've lost that sense of wonder to push us ourselves forward to strive for more. The trailer is not suppose to wow you, it's suppose to make you think.

Similar commercials, using the EXACT same footage to put the same message across play during every commercial break on Discovery Channel and Science Channel here in the states.

Really? Can you link to one?

It should make you take notice and want to see more. Do you really think the general movie going public are going to remember this teaser five minutes after seeing it? Most are going to go "WTF was that about? oh well"…and then be overwhelmed by the next trailer that comes on that slams them with visuals.

Im not judging the movie, we really haven't even seen a trailer yet but I think the teaser was a fail…Im excited for this movie and it did absolutely nothing for me.

So?

I'm not following the production that closely, but the trailer presents a very messy storyline.

Bo it's more on the editing of X-Men's teaser. I still don't understand why OKed the cut when Logan's yelling. It's was odd.

How is this relevant? I know the teaser isn't for everyone but still.

I'm sorry, but we live in a world where trailers already give you more than enough - in fact trailers spoil you to death trying to look cool. Will people remember this teaser? Probably not, but the underlying message may stick in peoples minds which will come into play once the film comes around. It's smart advertising asking people a question, because it makes them think about an answer and where they stand on the question. It's not about whether people will think 'hey 'I've got to see that movie now', it's about planting the question in people's minds, and this teaser does exactly that. The first trailers asks the question, the next trailer will show the possibilities, it's all part of a longer plan.

I'll enjoy this conversation and debates about the teaser. For it will be all moot and forgotten by the next trailer.

I think you are assuming the general movie going public is more intelligent than they really are.
