Night Shyamalan, after all his bombs, is still getting to direct big-budget Will Smith starring vehicles, then pretty sure Nolan is secure enough in his standing in Hollywood that he can take some calculated risks that may or may not pay off.

Let's not forget that Alan Horn over at Disney is probably chomping at the bit to bring him over. He's got a huge bargaining chip in his corner there, as well as options.

I just meant Nolan has a bargaining chip in Horn/Disney, if WB ever gets cold backing a project of his. They may not want to lose one of their top directors to a competitor is what I was getting at. They already nudged their way into this one with Paramount to stay in the Nolan business.

How did he change the ending to The Prestige? Also what is the ending to the original script for Interstellar?

I'm not sure all I remember was there was an interview with the writer of the original Prestige novel and he loved the new ending so much he said he wished he thought of it. I know in the ending of the book Jackman's character is still alive in some form unlike in the film.

However, I don't get the comparisons with Inception's hype. Inception was an action film set in dreams. That gives the potential to put all sorts of weird and wondeful action shots in the trailer such as the JGL hallway scene. Are there even any action scenes in Interstellar? This film will probably be quite slow which the trailers bring across.

Wasn't the film's script based on Kip Thornes work? Doesn't he exec produce this film? I think a large part of this film was to make everything as accurate as the story would allow.

I think this movie is going to be very very depressing and hit home with the whole climate change issue.

All the stuff about famine and wildfires caused by overpopulation and the changing climate will provide good drama, but it's pretty alarming that this is actually going to happen to us as a species and soon.

Except the real world isn't a movie and we aren't going to have a miracle piece of wormhole technology to transport people to another planet when our farmland and natural aquifers dry up.

The trailer definitely wasn't anything special and I definitely do think Inception had more "pizazz" at this point with both fans of Nolan's work and casual moviegoers too.

This one is flying somewhat under the radar and most people I've talked to have no freaking clue this even exist. Very different case with Inception.

I think it'll probably do pretty good but I definitely do get the feeling that the chances of this not resonating with the GA are relatively high.

I think fans tend to rewrite history based on their own interests. Inception was not based on an existing property or brand. I recall having to convince friends and co-workers back in as late as May 2010 that it would be good, but even after two trailers they didn't know what I was talking about. Cut to the movie opening and everyone loved it.

Word of mouth goes a long way.

I recall having to convince friends and co-workers back in as late as May 2010 that it would be good, but even after two trailers they didn't know what I was talking about. Cut to the movie opening and everyone loved it.

That and almost everyone even BO gurus said that it would only pull in 400-500 million and it doubled that. Most thought Inception would not be big with people. With every single film on the Hype there is always..."I don't think the marketing is good enough, no one will go see it" It's the same thing every time. People were complaining like crazy about Godzilla last year, not enough give us stuff now...didn't Pacific Rim teach them any thing etc etc.

Although I doubt it will make Dark Knight money, the only way I see this bombing is if it turns out completely terrible. And just judging by the trailer, I don't think that will happen.

That's true. The trailer make it seem like some sort of 2001 Space Odyssey. That movie isn't exactly beloved the world over. Half hold it as some masterpiece, the other half say it's too boring.

You guys have stated your opinion, so I`ll state mine:

Its literally beyond me how anyone saw this trailer and thought "meh" or "this is probably gonna be his weakest film".

I mean what is it gonna take to convince you its gonna be awesome, spoiling **cking everything in the trailers like The Amazing Spiderman 2?

I LOVED this trailer. One of the best trailers I`ve ever seen, FOR ME. Idk about you but it gave me chills, and made me wonder. Espcially since Nolan pours SO MUCH into his films.

Inception was about dreams, and took that concept so much further than I anticipated. Now he aims to do the same with interstellar space travel?! Lawddd. I have a somewhat firm grip of the plot, barely saw anything, and got hyped to see it. I`ll be avoiding any future trailers, Nolan always delivers for me. In my opinion.

I have the opposite feeling I think the first hour will have that exact feel that you're on about however that teaser an slightly in trailer 2 it gives me the impression the film will also be about reigniting Mankind's hunger for exploration and heading into the unknown and if pulled off I have a feeling this film will be HUGE. I was watching the teaser thinking "holy crap we really were all exploring and making impossible possible and have slightly lost it all". This could hit home with many IMO.

I didn't know that theoretical physicist Kip S. Thorne was consulted on this project and that he is one of the Exec Producers of this movie, that fact alone (alongwith Nolan directing) has got me interested in this movie !

Wow, what a powerful trailer. It's amazing to think I went from zero interest to immense interest now. I just loved how they used the stakes to focus more on the drama and the focus of the family. It created something just as if not more than just money shots. And those few money shots were worth it.

I'm getting more of a Zemeckis with a slight Ron Howard feel than a Spielberg one.

If this film succeeds in what it's trying to do, hopefully this will shut up the people who say Nolan is a cold filmmaker. Emotions are there, just never at the forefront. Nevertheless, this looks like Nolan's most emotional film. The change of style for him is what makes me excited.

WOM does go a long way, but Inception had more of a free run than Interstellar will. Inception did not have a gigantic franchise opening 2 weeks after it.

I really wish Interstellar was getting an October release like Gravity. That way if it's a good movie, it will have a chance to grow some legs. As it stands right now, even if it's a great movie it's still going to get nailed two weeks after it comes out.

That's something we don't have anymore because we're too conscious of the film's production these days.

A lot of the general audience doesn't like that kind of stuff though. That's why so many hard sci-fi movies struggle to make back their budgets. Nolan is really going to have to nail the execution of it.

After reading the spoilers, I definitely see why he felt the need for an "everyman" actor like McConaughey. He needed someone the audience could relate to as they are taken through this bizarre, hard sci-fi story.
