Is it just me or is the tide of opinion turning on this movie?

Who cares if DB was rushed? The first X-Men movie was rushed and it turned out well..I think this movie will be on par with the first X-Men movie.

well....my first exposure to the Dragon Ball world were the cartoons of Goku as a kid, so i was never expecting them to make a DBZ based movie right off the bat. however, i realized the potential that a DB movie could have had....and this movie looks like it doesn't even meet half of those.

as for the first X-Men...yes, it had a lot of problems, but it also had Patrick Stewart, Halle Barry, a nearly nude Rebbecca Romejn, and a charismatic stage actor as the lead.

lol that wasnt my advice. Dragonball might have been rushed a little bit, but thats not the point. The movie looks good and interesting. Piccolo character according to the script is really awesome. I think James Masters is going to make a great performance in this one.

This is the beginning and the introduction, you are expecting a DBZ-type of movie and this isnt DBZ, this is Dragonball. Thats the problem with most people in the USA, they only knew DBZ, so they are expecting Super Saiyans and Vegeta and Frieza and Cell already, they are expecting DBZ fights in mid air, super speed, etc. That didnt happen on DB, and this movie is based on DB.

Enjoy the movie.
wouldnt it make sense that an US studio makes then DBZ since people in america only know DBZ?

Im in America and I know quite a few people who know DB

It seems the optimists have only friends who like the trailer and haters have friends that spit on it. :oldrazz: I got pretty much optimism except from one guy.

Now that I think about it all my friends who know of this movie are spitting on it on the basis that it's Dragonball or on the fact that it looks bad.

In conclusion, this movie looks good and will be a hit.

I doubt that this will be a hit domestically on account of poor scheduling. There are just too many other movies that will be out when Dragonball comes out like Hanna Montana for example.

I think it's going to come down to the international numbers to determine on whether or not it's a hit.

X-Men was a rare exception due to a wonderful cast with Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, a good director with Bryan Singer, and a decent script.

Most movies that are rushed tend to suck. Take a look at the third X-Men movie for example.

JP´s and Jappo´s forums, their blogs, youtube, this forum, and many more in spanish you wouldnt understand anyway. I visit like many sites per day (I use the internet a lot), im not going to bother, and I dont care what 3 or 4 haters think lol.

Trailer is getting positive reactions, im really happy about it. This movie is going to be a hit, a new era in DB and DBZ history has begun. :D

Fan sites don't count. I'm talking about big sites. Youtube? There's no positive reaction on Youtube. Even if there is, it's very small. You're not exactly convincing me here. I think you're making stuff up to be honest. I don't believe for one second that you visit any other sites besides this one and JP's site.

Yeah, there really isn't a positive reaction on YouTube with the Dragonball movie.

Hanna who? lol :hehe:

Oh yes I do, but they are mostly in spanish.

VegetaDTX ...man I hate that guy. He is the living example of a loser with no life. Hes been posting in forums and youtube videos NON-Stop 24 hours a day since December of 2007 bashing and whining for every little thing, he even created a lame DB LAM (DB Live Action Movie) protest site that sucks. And I say December 2007, because thats when I started checking out for this movie on the internet. He really has no life.

I like DTX, he is a funny guy, and I admire his dedication to something that is really not worth the effort, I also admire the fact that he believes Dragonball is HIS and only HIS, he is the only fan worthy of being called a...fan

but anyways

I mean how old do you think the guys are commenting on youtube, if they are grown ass men then....

lol :hehe: I actually feel sorry for him.

Btw I loved your Dragonball review on youtube. It was funny as hell haha. It was so hilarious I had to watch it again. :word:

Hope you make a new one if a new trailer comes out.

Hanna who? lol :hehe:
I don't think you realise that Hanna Montana is freaking huge in the United States. Hannah merchandise is freaking everywhere. Parents spend thousands of dollars for crappy seats to take their little girls to concerts. Even Rod Blagojevich went to her concert and watched every episode. Right now, Hannah Montana is bigger than Dragonball in terms of merchandising and popularity. It will be the #1 film for it's week slot and maybe even more.

Of course Hannah Montana is more of a fad and will fade away once Miley Cyrus gets older and gets even trampier.

With Fast and Furious, Hannah Montana, Monsters vs. Aliens, and some theaters will still be playing Watchmen there is just far too much competition in the United States for Dragonball Evolution. And it won't last very long in theaters because May will be filled with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek, Angels and Demons, Night at the Museum 2, Terminator Salvation, and Up. It'll be very challenging for Dragonball Evolution to be successful domestically. It's going to most likely come down the international box office for its success to be determined like Fox's films from 2008 were.

I guess... although I doubt the fan base is the same.

Edit: I know we need regular movie goers for this to become a hit. Im sure DB will do ok in the USA.

i agree with you, hippy_hunter. if DB:E is going to be successful, it won't be because of America.......which is why i think it was a mistake to cater this towards Americans in the first place.

Of course the fan bases of Dragonball and Hannah Montana aren't the same.

As I said Hannah Montana is more of a fad. It's big right now, but it's eventually going to fade away like Lizzie McGuire, Furbies, Nano Pets, Beanie Babies, and whatnot.

Dragonball on the other hand, while it seems like its popularity in the United States has peaked and was much bigger a while ago, it's going to stay for quite a while. It has the more devoted fanbase that is more likely to stay on for a much longer time than the fanbase of Hannah Montana.

Honestly, what 20+ year old woman is going to be a fan of the tween girl oriented Hannah Montana.

There's no problem with catering to an American audience. For a lot of films, the domestic box office is still the place where a lot of films make the most of their money for the studio and is the largest film market there.

They just catered to the American market in the wrong way. They should have put it in a better time slot away. And honestly, in live action, Dragon Ball looks really rediculous. A CGI film would have probably worked much better.

Well to be honest, as much of a DB and DBZ fan as I am, I dont think I would go to the movie theater just to watch a CGI Dragonball movie. I would just stay home and watch my remastered version sets. Now a live action movie, thats different and interesting.

Well...you're going be sorely disappointed then.

I said it will do "ok" in the USA. It will do VERY WELL outside the USA.

I agree hippie. What looks good on a cartoon might not translate well to the big screen.

Wow...I never knew all those great movies were coming out so close to DB.Looks like the international crowd is gonna have to make major bucks for a sequel.

And JoseMP, you do realize their is something called an OPINION...you get so mad at anyone who says one bad thing about this movie, it seems like you wanna beat them up from how you type. You are trying to force your opinions on others and constantly try to pick fights with Dorky and Hokie(and they are not "haters" they acutally back up their opinions). Calm down a bit man.
