Soooooo....
The new logo is pretty cool...
The new logo is pretty cool...
Okay then, so what do you guys think about the new logo? Again.

the designers do associate it... and to me, that's what matters.
and the suit does associate Superman with his humanity... remember Superman Lives or Superman FlyBy?
It is the production concept leading to the exclusion of the trunks that is the problem for me. Enforcing and focusing on Superman as an alien is IMO a huge mistake. Superman is as American as mom and apple pie. It's what the GA knows, accepts, and expects.
it never was about making him look "goofy" and you know it... it
s change simply for the sake of change.
i dont like it, and i wont accept it as the norm either
lol...DoomApex....you are funny person.
I have reported you...so please get out of this thread.

Waitaminute, you actually reported him? For what?
There right there is your problem. You are assuming that the film will focus on the alien personification just because they made supermans suit look alien.Assuming.Whereas you are totally misreading the whole quote. They made supermans alien suit look alien because its alien.Thats it.have you seen the entire movie yet? nope.
are you the writers or the producer? nope.
do you know EXACTLY what they're making? nope.
what Marvel does is their business, as Thor is not the same as Superman, since Thor can go back to his homeworld. Superman cannot... yes, Superman is Kryptonian, but his humanity is just important, and shouldn't be rationalized... his "humanity is just as important as his alien heritage... the suit design specifically said that the costume reflects more of his alien heritage, which tells me they're more focused on the alien personification rather than his human personification, and like i said earlier, that's exactly what previous directors/producers did to past projects... maybe the "load" is that you found someone that disagrees with you, and the truth of the matter is, you're going to run into that... the designers made it very obvious that the "trunks" are a part of Superman's "humanity"... i'd like to keep part of Superman's "humanity" intact.
Superman's Kryptonian heritage is as much a part of the character as his American upbringing, neither should be ignored. (IMO.)
The people should accept the character as it is or reject him, that should not mean that one part of his roots should be abandoned for the other.
Superman's Kryptonian heritage is as much a part of the character as his American upbringing
Yes, but like I refuted in that very same paragraph, non-fans don't. These modifications are symbolic for the designers and fans but my colleagues or classmates won't give a damn that the trunks are gone, or what they represent. To alot of them, the trunks were nothing but an unnecessary accessory or an article of clothing that made Superman appear 'goofy'.

I disagree with this.
His upbringing on Earth IS what makes him Superman. Remember Jor-el sends his infant son to Earth, meaning virtually his entire life is spent on Earth. His super-powers are the benefit of being on Earth, and his strength of character is due solely to the guidance of his Earth parents. And it is solely that strength that allows him to properly use his powers! Of course this means that one must reject the Jor-el AI mumbo jumbo, and the "It is your destiny...yada, yada..." iteration, which I readily and wholeheartedly do!
Earth is his home! His only home as Krypton no longer exists.
While I certainly agree his Kryptonian heritage cannot be ignored; it is not in regards to an origin tale on an equal footing with his Earth upbringing.
I have to disagree. First, if it wasn't for his Kryptonian heritage, he wouldn't have any powers so that's kind of a big deal.
On top of that, if he was simply a human with powers, he would have no internal conflict like other characters (Batman, Spider-man, etc). He would be a guy with powers and just because he is a good person he decides to be a hero -- boring.
Being of two worlds brings great internal conflict to the character. It's his struggle to find a place in a world which he is not a part of -- or is he!? That's the conflict and that character arc.
Also the fact that he is an alien and cares so much for humanity, to me, only strengthens his humanity. A human who cares for humans is expected but an alien who cares means so much more.
Without the Kryptonian heritage, you really have nothing.
His powers are due to the addition of Earth's sun. Had he grown to adulthood on Krypton he probably would be a very The only factor of his Kryptonian heritage of import to his powers
Taken in isolation, I dont think an alien suit necessarily means an emphasis on the alien. For modern iterations, I think it comes down to an issue of plausibility. Back in the day, it might have seemed reasonable that Ma/Pa/Clark would take inspiration from, say, Errol Flynn movies or the circus strongman for Supermans uniform. But a contemporary infant Kal-El would have crash-landed in Kansas circa the early 90s and come of age now - with Flynn and Barnum & Bailey all but quaint anachronisms. So what would possess a modern Ma Kent to come up with the bodysuit, boots and cape? Its an easier sell, I think, to just explain the costume as alien fashion. (The indestructible materials are traditionally Kryptonian anyway; its a relatively small step to say the design is too.)You are assuming that the film will focus on the alien personification just because they made Superman's suit look alien.

We have here in this forum some Inteligent people!!!
The suit is done, the film is in Post-Production, some of you have to accept what's coming, I think that's stupid even to discuss this, almost everyone is SUPER curious about the movie, not only the fans but everyone who saw the teaser, saw something interesting and they will give an opportunity to this francise again, that´s is not important for some of you??? If you want to see the old movies and the old costume the bluray is on sale go get it, now is another time, try to evolve people I know that you can do itt, this film has to be a success, but more importantly we should be more careful with the story and the actors and mostly Cavill !!!
Also - I think its problematic to claim that a homemade costume (with trunks) somehow connotes warmth or approachability or humanity. No matter where it comes from, the classic Superman garb is fairly outlandish. Thats the point - to stand out as different (not to blend in as familiar). And an alien origin rationalizes this.
