Superman #0 just revealed this:
Superman-Zone-014.jpg

I don't know if its a seperate stealth suit, or if its the same suit but recolored (Action Comics revealed that), but it's definitely influenced by the black suit from Death and Return of Superman. I gotta say, even though I like the red and blue, I do like black and silver as well. It still works for Superman, if used the right way. This variant is actually neat, I would like to get this as a toy as well next to the normal red and blue one.

Interesting....very interesting.

I for one am all for additional suits to compliment his regular one. Not that he should go around changing suits all the time, but a different suit for a different purpose. Or just a different sort of suit.

For instance, during LnC's run, when Kal went to help the Kryptonian survivors he wore a different suit that was still pretty cool.

Would love to know the reason behind the new black and silver suit. Superman still looks really young though. Maybe I'm just getting older.

Nah, he looks young.

Yeah, because it's an interesting sci-fi design and not an astronaut suit slightly altered to look superheroic and with an S-shield thrown in.

That's like saying "I don't want Superman in a space suit that's congruent with his overall persona".

Sure, JLA's design could be improved upon, but if he has a special outfit for space, I at least want it to make me think "Superman", not "mutant white lab rat".

Interesting how I didn't like this suit, but it looks like the one Zod is supposed to wear.

All this would find me in agreement if the All-Star space suit didn't make me think of Superman. An S-shield is all you need to think Superman, so once that's been covered, it's really a matter of what's more imaginative and what looks better in each viewer's eyes. And in mine, the All-Star space suit rocks.

That's probably because DC is still run by baboons.

Superman certainly needs some sort of space suit if he's going to be in space for a long period of time. The only other problem I have with Superman being in space is that he's actually supposed to become weaker since the yellow sunlight is supposed to give him power. It's only within earth's atmosphere that the sun appears yellow.

In terms of the pseudo-science of Superman (:cwink:)… It’s well established canon that Earth’s (type of) star emits a “special radiation” that endows Kryptonians (and other red star natives) with superhuman abilities. That’s the basic, sci-fi conceit. So the fact that the Sun is informally labeled as “yellow” (even though it’s white) is irrelevant. The color yellow isn’t a magical property that gives Supes his powers (otherwise he’d lose them indoors or whenever a stained-glass window changed the Sun’s apparent hue). It’s the unique/invisible “special radiation” that does the job.

In the old days, Supes would routinely make trips to deep space. And as long as he avoided red star systems (alas, they are the vast majority - something the comics fudged), he retained his full powers.

It's funny, I never really minded the high collar on the New 52 look but after seeing this suit with the classic neck, I may be changing my mind. It looks quite good.

The shield is better as well. It's similar to the MOS shield.

Heres the suit recolred with the classic colors. All i got to say is WHOA!

if we must have an alien suit such as that above, why not make it more colorful?... stay away from that god-awful burton suit.

personally, if we must go trunk-less and alien, i would rather see something along the lines like this

Loving that. I'm a sucker for black in the shield.

It's pretty good, still better then so many super hero outfits out there. But when the rest of the costume is so close colour wise to the classic suit, I think keeping the yellow would still make it better. That art does look good though, think I might pick the issue up as a result.

But talking of black in the 'S', I do like the black S on his cape for the new 52, I think it would look great on the live action cape.

Here's a theory: this black suit might be either a seperate suit or maybe a variant of an upcoming new suit. Because if the covers indicate anything, it's that the suit Superman wears in #13, the beginning of Lobdell's run (#0 is his too), is still the New 52 version:

And going by the recolor above, may we be getting a newer 52 suit?

I get what you're saying doc. Though, Superman wouldn't lose his powers indoors or even at night for that fact. I think of his powers as being somewhat like a rechargeable battery. His powers would very slowly diminish without yellow sunlight. It would also be cool if his space suit can somehow harness his powers so that he may last longer while he's in space. Imo, this is more interesting rather than radiation powering him, because it would avoid Superman and even Zod from flying closer to the sun and becoming the most powerful beings in the universe.

Talking about this makes me even more excited and curious on how this is handled in MoS.
