you're implying it, krumm... you dont know anymore about this suit than i do, and yet you think your explanation is better than mine because you think your "logic" makes more sense... might make more sense to you, but it doesn't make sense to me all...

im supposed to accept it as truth such without ANY explanation behind it?... i dont accept that at all.

if Superman and his suit can be fleshed out in the comics, then why cant he be fleshed out in a movie?

Of course, we don't know anything yet. I was speaking specifically in an hypothetical context. And you even agreed with my logic (no quotations).

And who says it won't be fleshed out in a movie. That's what our conversation was about -- fleshing it out.

Regardless, I'm not forcing my opinion on you at all -- as you stated.

and you know what, Kalmart, ALL of that greatly interests me... my interest in Superman is not based on your interests.

we all have reasons as to why we like Superman, but the difference between you and me is that i dont simply believe something simply because a person says so. i like to know what makes something work, or the history behind something, or the mechanical innards of something so i know how it functions

This will always be the ideal/definitive look of Superman to me.

Good to know...hopefully they'll put out a book or something.

For me as well, but it didn't really require an analysis of its texture or stretchability, or how it holds up against fire and bullets for you to favor it. A new style shouldn't either...you ultimately either like it stylistically or not. If you do, cool...it'll probably make the story easier to like too. If not, too bad...hopefully the movie is good enough to let it pass.

i really, really hope they do :)
if they release a "The Art Of" book, i do greatly hope they delve into that

Agreed...it would be nice companion material...especially since this is the first new Superman movie continuity in 30+ years.

if i remember correctly, and you can correct me if I'm wrong... that was drawn in the seventies, at least i think- that was still in the Pre-Crisis version of Superman, right?

and i will say this about this, and the suit...

if they go into extreme detail about the fantasy history as to why Superman wears this specific suit in that DC universe, and they give details about the texture, and anything and everything about the suit itself, i promise you i will look on it in a much more positive light, because it proves that they really did change it for the sake of the story, and not change it simply because they wanted to change it.

But still basically the same suit and layout from the very start...tights and outside undies, etc. This is the first big change, along with the 'new 52' one.

I really don't think it needs that much explanation...because I'm generally fine with the change and it doesn't need justification aside from ultimately giving it a new style...which either works with everything or doesn't for whoever. Of course it was motivated by changing it because of style. Just because they want a new one doesn't mean it knocks the old or looks at it as silly, etc. It wants something new for new's sake...nothing wrong with that in concept. If it does line up storywise, then it's an added bonus.

How much of an explanation are you looking for?

I don't think they necessarily need to have exposition-y dialogue. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a more contextual explanation.

i would love a complete dialogue as to what happened on Krypton... the one thing i loved about Byrne's interpretation of Krypton is that he gave a complete history from the creation of Krypton to its destruction. it gave an in-depth look into the ages of krypton, and how it became the way he imagined it to be.

since we've just had a complete revamp to the mythos, i think it would be a great idea to do the same for this movie... give the audience the chance to learn about THIS version of Superman.

Good points and glad to know you at least like one thing about Byrne...lol

I wouldn't mind seeing this as well. I am actually hoping that the Jor-El's scene are very fantastic and un-Nolan like. That way it will help to flesh out Clark even better...lol.

I think they are going to do just that. Krypton is going to even have it's own language in the movie.

I would love that stuff too. I'm not sure if they could fit it in the movie, however, at least not in the detail I would prefer.

i dont necessarily think it needs to be IN the movie, but i do think if they released an animated movie before the movie came out in theaters, or even a comic book that explains the back history of Krypton, like they did for the new Star Trek film, that would be fantastic

Yeah. I really want to see an World of Krypton animated movie that ends with Jor-el sending Kal-el to Earth.

Agreed. It really wouldn't work with the pacing of a film.

maybe not end with the destruction of Krypton... but definitely end with the birth of Kal-El, so that it leads into the movie

I think that would be great and I'd love see how they would draw Russell. That would be interesting enough for me. I hope this is on the books to be done because I don't think they will be able to explain Zod and Jor-El.

Does anyone know if the Zod in this version is Jor-El's brother or just a general?

I have never really thought of this. In most of the origins I have read in the comics, it's clear the material is Kryptonian, but it still gets jacked up ALL the time. I haven't been keeping up with the last reboot, so I'm not sure if they provided an explanation there. Though that is a good point.

Based on the photo, it's hard to tell if the material is meant to be armor or just part of the design.[/QUOTE]

The Last Reboot,What last Reboot?
