I'm not interested in brand names per se, only in the signal they carry that the stuff in the bottle is going to taste pleasant.

Considering the last few films had a lacking Bond theme, I was hoping they would go the more traditional route and I'm glad they did.

Agreed. But I actually like Casino Royale's theme. It grew on me.

Tastes are acquired and vary wildly. I like a wide variety of beers micro and macro brews including heineken. Everyone likes what they like. It doesnt degrade bond that he likes a heineken. He may still like other more top shelf beers. People can like more than one thing.

Me personally i will drink top with the best but im not gonna turn my nose up at a heineken or a bud light for that matter. Remember in QOS he had a beer in a south american hole in the wall bar with felix. I know that beer probably wasnt some properly temped top shelf beer.

I'm not arguing to the contrary- and I don't want you to think I'm a snob.

What I mean is, in scenes like that in the Casino in 'Royale, Bond is clearly supposed to be posturing in such a way to convince everyone else that he is the most sophisticated guy in the room. Yet he constructs a Martini based on Gordon's, which is widely acknowledged to be the budget brand. It doesn't quite add up.

Yeah I agree about that scene, and I doubt you are a snob.:yay: It would seem odd to have all that money to bet and be in that class and request that liquor.

LOL. It's funny because if you read the original Bond novels, Fleming writes about the smoking of high end cigarettes and liquor like a religious experience. I enjoyed how specific Fleming was about his cigarettes and his liquor in the books. Got to write what you know, right?

I think in the movies though, especially more modern ones there will always be a bit of a dumbing down. Just take for example in Casino Royle they changed the card game to poker instead of what was it, baccarat?

Most audiences aren't really going to notice or care. Bond just needs to look and act cool and make it seem like what he is drinking is cool and say, "shaken, not stirred."

Fleming new a thing or two about drinking and smoking, that is for sure. At one point during his writing he was smoking 70 cigarettes a day, and was an alcoholic.

The guy that made the trailer I posted earlier featuring Muse's "Supremacy" has also made a trailer featuring Adele's "Skyfall".

Below is his Supremacy trailer.

Ok this is badass! Excellent trailer using Muse's Supremacy.

“He pushed over a flat white box of cigarettes and Bond sat down and took a cigarette and lit it. It was the most wonderful cigarette he had ever tasted – the mildest and sweetest of Turkish tobacco in a slim long oval tube with an elegant gold crescent.”

One of James Bond’s greatest pleasures is cigarettes and he usually smokes sixty per day of a special Balkan and Turkish mixture with three gold bands on the filter. The cigarettes are specially made for him by Morland’s and carried in a wide, thin cigarette case of black gunmetal with room for fifty." Chapter 2, Casino Royale

SKYFALL

This is the end
Hold your breath and count to ten
Feel the Earth move and then
Hear my heart burst again

:woot:

This is exactly how i see the movie starting.:woot:

I was driving along and I heard Skyfall song on the radio for the first time (never heard it online at all) and I have to say I kinda like it, not as great as the other songs, but a LOT better than some of them. I cannot wait to hear it over the credits next month :).

:007

That BTS on the other page just got me even more excited for this movie, Silva looks like he could be one of the great Bond villains.

The theme fits great with this short montage:

LOVE the song, the most classic sounding Bond song in a long time IMO.

Old Craig is pretty funny on SNL. I know he has this hard nosed demeanor, but he can cut loose.

wow, I am surprised that the theme song is not on there it has usually been the first track in every 007 film soundtrack as long as I can remember.

Track 29 is interesting

He's doing a good job so far. That skit of him and his girlfriend "Reggie"... :lmao:

Time to play The One game, guys.

Favorite Bond actor: Daniel Craig. His intensity trumps everybody else.

Favorite Bond film: From Russia From Love. Sean Connery at his best.

Favorite Bond theme: For Your Eyes Only. Such a beautiful song.

Favorite Bond girl: Tatiana Romanova. WOW!

Favorite Bond villain: Ernst Blofeld (Donald Pleasance version). I loved his ruthlessness.

Worst Bond actor: Roger Moore. He might as well have been Bugs Bunny in a tuxedo.

Worst Bond film: Moonraker. 007 doesn't belond in outer space.

Worst Bond theme: The Man With The Golden Gun. I'm better off listening to fingernails on a chalkboard.

Worst Bond girl: Mary Goodnight. I hated that she was turned into cliche dumb***** blonde instead of how she was in the books.

Worst Bond villain: Hugo Drax. Michael Lonsdale might as well have been reading his lines off cue cards!

Favorite Bond actor: Daniel Craig. Easily the best technical actor of them all.

Favorite Bond film: Dr No. It's a bit shaky, but you can sense the freshness and the atmosphere of escapism is almost sexual.

Favorite Bond theme: Thunderball. I find it to be the most dramatic.

Favorite Bond girl: A choice between Anya Amisova and Domino. The former was the best execution of that "female equal to Bond" that we have to have all the time now; the latter was a beautiful young woman who got caught up in it all, but proved brave and resourceful.

Favorite Bond villain: Blofeld, as a disembodied voice with a white cat. I loved that mysterious menace.

Worst Bond actor: Pierce Brosnan. An oiled piece of wood.

Worst Bond film: Die Another Day. I am surprised there is any argument.

Worst Bond theme: A toss up between The Man With The Golden Gun and Another Way to Die. Both generic in intent and grating in execution.

Worst Bond girl: ***** Galore. I know this is sacrilege, but she does nothing for me. I would love to see the sleek, dark lesbian from the novel in a movie.

Worst Bond villain: Gustav Graves. Charmless and boring; the concept of an evil reflection of Bond was more successful in Alec Trevelyan.

that's a opretty long one for a Bond movie !!

And yeah, what happened to Adele's song ???

I like Adele's tune, it's overall solid and the chorus is really powerful. The embedding of the classic Bond-theme is well done, but also strips the song a bit of it's own identity. I love Adele's singing though, her voice oozes of the same kind of straightforward and stylish strength that is Craig's Bond.

The song really makes me wanna see the movie even more, which of course is a good rating in itself.

As far as Craig-era Bond-themes go, it doesn't reach You Know My Name but is miles better than Another Way to Die.

7/10
