James Bond In Skyfall - - - Part 12

Someone need to ask Sam Mendes why he shot the scene like that. I'm curious.

It's very sad that [BLACKOUT]her poor corpse[/BLACKOUT] is just dangling there, then Bond quips a joke then the heroic MI6 copters arrive with the Bond theme. I know the questionable history of Bond and women, and I know he's a spy but its a weird shot.

I think it works because he did try to save her. He tried to hit that glass, he just couldn't. But yeah, her just hanging, especially when Silva retreats that way with the music and copters just seems in poor taste.

Connery:
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Dr. No
Thunderball
Never Say Never Again (inferior to Thunderball, but Connery's performance was superb)
You Only Live Twice
Diamonds Are Forever

Moore:
For Your Eyes Only
The Man With The Golden Gun
Octopussy
The Spy Who Loved Me
Live And Let Die
A View To A Kill
Moonraker

Dalton:
License To Kill
The Living Daylights

Brosnan:
The World Is Not Enough
Goldeneye
Tomorrow Never Dies
Die Another Day

Craig:
Skyfall
Casino Royale
Quantum Of Solace

Then why didn't he just kill him when he could have during the chase? I understand keeping him alive for questioning earlier, but not at that point.

That was sh**ty writing. Just ignore it.

I don't understand EON's insistence of reusing Glen 5 times in a row. It comes off as lazy.

And safe. He was a 2nd unit director or something. And they had the formula. Why bother. And judging by some fans' reactions and critique, EON must've felt justified back then.

I take it you have that sweet sweet blu ray box set as well? ;)

Mine is;

1. Goldfinder
Imho the quintessential bond movie. Everything I want in a Bond movie is right here. The action, the gadgets, the henchman, the villian, the base.

2. Skyfall.
Blown away by this movie.

3. Goldeneye.
4. The Spy who loved me.
5. Licence to Kill.

I'm not talking about quality of movie, I'm talking pure enjoyement while I was watching. I can't see myself watching many of the Bond movies again after watching them in a marathan session but these movies I will DEFINATELY watch again, therefore they are my favorites.

Nah. I own all he DVDs from the last boxset. I only have the first four Connery films, OHMSS (brand new), and Craig's films on Blu ray. Was going to get the GoldenEye blu-ray but apparently the transfer is still pretty horrible.

At least you were honest. :hehe:

It is not the only time in the film that one of the two pauses to talk for no reason and just lets the other live. Just look at the frozen lake scene.

Yup. What happens to Severine wasn't the issue with me but what happens after the fact that comes off as mean spirited disguised as something heroic/crowd-pleasing.

If anything, it's a Bond tradition.

My theater was pretty vocal. The crowd clapped a few times. That was the only time the crowd seemed mixed. A few clapped, but the rest seemed quite unsure.

Her character was so underused compared to how she is being used to promote the film.

That's what one of my main criticisms with the film are the fact they underused/under-developed the bond girls, who seemed more than capable of doing more. Although as someone pointed out M was pretty much the "bond girl" this time around.

Sure, the DNR might've been a little excessive, but I think it looks great plus the cropping issue has been fixed. Its worth the upgrade.

She was promoted because she is like a thousand times finer then Eve.

It was a very confusing scene. Also I wasn't sure what actually happened to Severine afterwards. I really thought she survived due to the music/rescue. But no....The movie just moved on and forgot all about her.

See I hate DNR so much, but yeah once I heard the cropping issues were fixed I kind wanted to get it still. I will probably take your advice and pick it up.

At first I read "Eva" instead of "Eve" and I was going to report you for speaking lies.

Eva and Olga are still unmatched in their perfection in my eyes, but Berenice is absolutely gorgeous. If they had cast Hayley Atwell as Eve though, it would of been quite close.

Connery is my favorite bond.
Moore was funnier, Brosnan was more suave, Dalton and Craige were more brutal but Connery is the only Bond for me that pulls off the humour, the suavity and brutality all in one neat package.

So;
1. Connery
2. Brosnan (massive Remington Steele fan)
3. Craige
4. Dalton
5. Lazenby
6. Moore (sorry Roger)

Why are you spelling Craig, Craige? For me, after Skyfall there is no contest. Craig is my favorite Bond. I love him.

Dalton was just lacking in the charm department. As dark as he is, he's no flirt. So when he does have to be a womanizer it's painfully awkward.

Because I'm a rubbish speller :)
Skyfall is great but for me it's not 'THE' best movie.

Sometimes, they kill off the wrong Bond girl.

I disagree with what happened to Plenty O'Toole, Paris Carver, and Miranda Frost.

Dalton is a poor Bond in really good Bond movies. I wonder how much better TLD/LTK would have been if it starred a Bond I really liked like Brosnan.

Lol, exactly the opposite for me.
