So I'm not the only one who saw Joker in Skyfall upon my first viewing? :D

I really don't think Bond was unmoved by Severin's death. Look at how badly his hand was shaking before he tried to take his own shot. He was *trying* to save her life by playing along with that game, worried that he wasn't up to it, and then found that he failed anyway.

Bond's discovery of the movie was that he did care about people, when he pretended to himself he didn't. He saw the monster he could have become when looking at Silva.

1 Billion dollars and not a pair of 3D specs in sight.

Finally saw this the other night. Thought it was very good; loved how quiet and character-driven it was at times despite being a thoroughly enjoyable action flick. Reminiscent of Dark Knight Rises in that way. My favorite aspect of it was unsurprisingly the cinematography. It wasn't without a couple flaws however; a few moments that didn't sit right with me, like how the Bond girl was handled (or rather, wasn't).

Not only that, but to address the "no emotion" thing people have a problem with, remember when he was being re-evaluated. He showed no physical pain until he was alone. It's how he was trained.

People don't like the way Severine was handled? I'm fine with how she was handled. It's obvious she wasn't the main Bond Girl in the movie.

From what I've gathered, most people don't like Bond's reaction when she is killed.

It was the marketing. But if you think about it, she was only in that one scene in the trailer and in the shower. So honestly, its perception. But the film shouldn't be at fault for one's perception and marketing. People are just used to the main Bond girl sharing a steamy scene in the shower with Bond and relate it back to it being importance.

"Hell of a waste of good scotch."

I'll take that any day over some overreaction to someone knowing a woman for a night. I mean really, what kind of reaction did it deserve if Bond only shared two scenes with her? I was as surprised as anyone, but that's what happens to Bond girls. People just thought she would be a main Bond girl when in the end, Eve was. Of course the marketing is going to hype of the eye candy. That includes Severine, no matter how minimal a role she has, is no exception.

I loved that line.

Exactly.

I don't know what people were expecting from Bond with that scene in how he would react. Did they want him in a fetal position crying over her, or going into a hulk rage over her? I thought it was handled just fine. He's in a situation where he's most likely going to die, and cannot show that kind of weakness to his enemy.

Although Dench was the true Bond girl of the movie. :woot:

I love how Bond says "perfect" after watching that cute Asian barmaid shake and not stir his Martini.
I used to think that Connery would be impossible to top, but man, Craig is Bond.

No 3D, but they did do IMAX and those tickets cost a lot extra.

I hope they never do Bond in 3D. I'd much rather have Bond shot in IMAX than 3D.

Die another day missed the opportunity to have the bullet be a 3D effect

Eve was hilariously bad. Does nothing except cause collateral damage... then she freaking shoots James Bond.

I thought the villain was the best we've seen in a long time... granted, that's not saying much.

As Killifer would say, one billion bucks is one hell of a chunk of doe.

I liked how they handled Eve though, seeing her in action. She did save Bond's life in the casino after Bond jumps off the komodo dragon. The two of them always have something to draw upon in the future in terms of the bridge shot and the clove shave.

IMAX has minimal effect on.B.O. since there are few theaters since there are only 400+ IMAX theaters in the world, compared to at least 10,000 movie screens in the world for 3D and I am definitely underestimating right there.

I did the math on The Avengers opening weekend and IMAX usually gives about a 3-5% bump compared to 3D which at best can give a 30% bump in profits.

The producers for Bind have already came out and expressed their that they don't believe the Bond movies are the right genre for 3D. I doubt the next Bind movie will be in 3D.
