The producers for Bind have already came out and expressed their that they don't believe the Bond movies are the right genre for 3D. I doubt the next Bind movie will be in 3D.

A lot of producers and directors have said things like this only to be overruled by the studio.

But they haven't. At least not yet. Until then, we can assume that Bond won't be in 3D. There hasn't been a single spy movie in 3D anyway and most "realistic" movies aren't in 3D, which is what Barbara Broccoli mentioned in her interview. Bond is one of those franchises that wouldn't benefit from 3D not even on a gimmick level.

For a movie that made a billion dollars, they won't force 3D upon the producers or the director.

I'm alright with how Severine was outed and I think there's just enough meat on there. Her casino meeting establishes her character pretty well, how she's flanked by bodyguards and wants Silva dead. Saying that, adding a bit more behind it - the deleted scene or her at Shanghai Airport giving the sniper rifle case on escalators, wouldn't have hurt. But without it things still work.

They seem to be a little trigger happy with these "For Your Consideration" ads. I mean, are they really pushing for a Supporting Actress nomination for Berenice Marlohe? Supporting Actor noms for Finney and Whishaw? Everyone was good in it, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. The only ones who probably could be nominated (in a year with less competition) are Dench and Bardem.

They're always like that with FYC ads. They pretty much "suggest" anyone and everyone involved, lol.

Bardem got a SAG nomination, which is the #1 predictor for the acting categories at the Oscars (since they share a lot of voters), so he actually has a real shot at a nod.

That's very surprising. I didn't think Bardem would even be considered for a Best Supporting nom.

He was nominated for a SAG, which makes up a huge number of Academy Voters.

It's standard protocol to forward these ads for every major crew and cast members.

Heck, and I hope you are not drinking something because I suggest you put it away, Marion Cotilard for TDKR had a For Your Consideration ad. Ha.

I forgot about SAG. I just didn't think a Bond villain could possibly be nominated, especially for an Oscar. A Globe, yeah, but not an Oscar. Though Bardem does indeed have a self speaking advantage to his name already.

If he or Leo or Waltz are nominated, then the category will be interesting once again.

Or maybe they were thinking now they can increase that to even more with 3D. Turn $1 billion plus into $1.5 billion plus.

Seriously....best picture?

Is there really no competition?

On paper Bardem has a shot but I have this gnawing feeling he won't be nominated, I can't help but consider since the category will be mostly filled by previous winners that if a newcomer do nab a spot it'd be on the cost of whatever Bardem got, I'd love to be proven wrong.

Bardem's introduction is my favourite for a Bond villain. The rat speech in one take, getting sensual with Bond and trying to make Bond see the world like him. Very charismatic and with good points that backed up his argument, like M passing Bond when he actually failed, etc. The antique pistol game was an added bonus. Just based on that stretch of film, Silva is tops.

In this case the studio can not overrule. As far as I know, Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have complete control over Bond.

Maybe, but even producers have made similar claims and then conveniently changed their minds.

I think with the Broccolis and Bond, it's a bit different. Bond is pretty much all they do, isn't it?

Yes essentially. Film Bond is a family property so if they dont approve of something it doesnt happen, and their power and ownership is backed by a handful of legal cases and documents so when it comes to Film Bond, Barbara is god.

Still skeptic that they won't change their minds about 3D eventually.

Yeah, Barbara can but only she can make that decision. Everyone else can scream til their face is blue and it wont matter if she says No. That's why I dont care one way or the other. It wont be some outside bottomline suit making the decision.

She can still be persuaded.

I wish someone would persuade her about shooting the next movie with IMAX cameras.

Im only up for that it the director is comfortable using IMAX rigs. If not then there is little point using them. An uncomfortable director is not a director I want.

Be cool if Javier got nominated for an Oscar, but I'd rather not see him be awarded it. I'm not a fan of repeat winners.
