James Bond In Skyfall - - - - - Part 14

Ah that whole set-piece at the manor was so blah to me. I don't know, the idea of bond fighting side by side with a couple of bumbling elderly folk while setting up "home alone" style booby traps just left me confused and disappointed.

I know it was brought up in that youtube video but man i was thinking turn the damn flash light off while you scurry to the church! It's not like you two will be out-running anyone if caught.

every movie has their critic. I feel like even if you don't like Skyfall, it's a movie that should be encouraged, vs. something like Die Another Day. I always feel that's possible to dislike a certain film while still respecting. Like how Kirk hated but respected Khan in the original Star Trek series.

I loved it. Absolutely loved it. I loved the look, I loved the execution, I loved it all. From the moment Bond opens his garage to the gun barrel, it might be my favorite Bond act. I like Casino Royale overall better, but Skyfall's third act is stunning.

I don't know i'll always respect craig as bond and i think he still did a great job. I was just so caught up in the Bond 50 hype and "best bond ever" claims so i was pretty let down.

Even on re-watch it was just missing that certain vibe in CR which i loved. While CR was about looking to the future of the new bond, i felt like Skyfall was just a reaction to the bashing that QoS got and they felt like "ok let's get nostalgic to the bond everybody knows".

They practically rebooted a reboot. I feel if QoS was a better made film (or at least better received) skyfall would have had a different vibe to it.

It does get a bit nostalgic, but it was always going to be with the introductions of Q, Moneypenny and the New M.

No, it isn't as good as Casino Royale, but Casino Royale is on an island by itself. It is a great film first and foremost, and that is hard to find in the Bond franchise.

That Skyfall is a very good movie, and for just being that it makes the top 3 list in terms of Bond easy.

I liked Skyfall equally to CR because to me they two very different types of films on their own levels.

Skyfall has a few slow and not all that well put together moments. CR only has the airport chase that while I like, felt like a tad bit of overkill for me.

50 Years of 007 - Gun Barrel Sequences (1962-2012) (HD)

My favorites in this order
1. Daniel Craig - Casino Royale, Skyfall, QOS
2. Sean Connery - Dr. No, Goldfinger, Thunderball
3. Roger Moore - Man with the golden gun, the spy who loved me, Moonraker
4. Timothy Dalton - The living daylights, License to kill
5. Pierce Brosnan - TND, TWINE, DAD,

I'm not going to mention Lazenby as he just sucked hardcore as bond

From what I understand Craig is the only actor to have filmed 3 separate gun barrels and that for the other bond's they mostly just repeated the 1 or 2 versions which they filmed throughout their runs.

I guess it's also interesting how all of his have come at the end of the film.

CR came at the end of the PTS, not the end of the film. Also for my money the best gun barrel by a long way.

How could i forget and i totally agree. I'm surprised they didn't play around with the gun barrel variation any earlier?

Although it would be very easy to make that type of scene cheesy if repeated. I'll add that for me the gunbarrell scene being at the end of QoS worked due to it sort of signalling that bond was now the bond at the films conclusion.

Which is why i really felt skyfall should have opened with the gunbarrell up front but mendes has his explanation.

When I see the opening of Skyfall and Casino Royale, it makes me kind of wish they didn't feel obligated to do the gun barrel. Both films open perfectly, and they don't nuse gun barrels. Perhaps Skyfall's final shot could have come close to matching the perfection of CR's if it didn't have the gun barrel.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they kept the Gun barrel at the end of the movies.

Yeah I quite enjoyed it and how it lead into the "James Bond will return." and the 50 years thing.

I don't mind them just doing the gunbarrel and then "James Bond will return" at the end of each movie.

I actually like that the Gunbarrel sequence is done at the end of the film in Craig's series. It adds a unique spin to the classic sequences.

Sean didnt do the gun barrel scene in Dr No, that was a stuntman. His first gun barrel was the second one. Moore had two, one standing and one kneeling.

Skyfall's third act is stunning. I can't fathom why a contingent of Bond fans (not here) think it spits on the face of the character.
