He had a beard in Die Another Day.
He had a beard in Die Another Day.
Judi Dench is 77, and really does look too old to be head of MI6/SIS.
Is Bond rocking a beard this time?
I'd love for The National or Modest Mouse to do a Bond Theme...
I agree i really think this should be Dench's last Bond, they should get someone like Sir Harry Pierce from Spooks to replace her........Judi Dench is 77, and really does look too old to be head of MI6/SIS.
Her character should be pensioned off to the House of Lords.
t:Which I get, and I had Tracy as my #2, but then I had to be honest with myself: 1) I don't love OHMSS as much as most Bond fans, and 2) I would rather watch The Spy Who Loved Me right now for Anya alone, or The World Is Not Enough for Elektra alone, than I would watch OHMSS for Tracy alone. In a heartbeat.

Oh, Entertainment Weekly, you and your ludicrous lists. I certainly wouldn't put Jinx on the "Best" list, or Octopussy on the "Worst," either, and Rosa Klebb's inclusion is just baffling. My own picks:
BEST
1. Eva Green as Vesper Lynd - She may not be the action heroine that Wai Lin or Jinx were, but Bond has never had a truer equal. She may not have been Mrs. James Bond, but Bond never had a greater love, or a greater match. Daniel Craig and Eva Green are electric together onscreen.
2. Barbara Bach as Major Anya Amasova
3. Sophie Marceau as Elektra King
4. Diana Rigg as Teresa Di Vicenzo
5. Michelle Yeoh as Wai Lin
6. Luciana Paluzzi as Fiona Volpe
7. Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp
8. Honor Blackman as ***** Galore
9. Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder
10. Claudine Auger as Domino
WORST
1. Britt Ekland as Mary Goodnight - I don't think any Bond girl has ever been more thoroughly useless.
2. Jill St. John as Tiffany Case - Initially, there are gestures toward a clever, fun character here - and by the end of the movie she's just a bikini on an oil rig.
3. Tanya Roberts as Stacey Sutton - Shrill, boring, and laughable paired with Roger Moore.
4. Gloria Hendry as Rosie Carver- Couldn't she have been a little competent?
5. Corinne Clery as Corinne Dufour - The scene where Drax sends his dogs after her is chilling and very well crafted, but Corinne herself is just another non-entity victim character.
6. Mie Hama as Kissy (not named in the film, by the way) - None of the Bond girls in You Only Live Twice are particularly compelling, but here's the dullest.
7. Lois Chiles as Dr. Holly Goodhead - Moonraker is merely a rehash of The Spy Who Loved Me with marginal differences, and here they tried to recapture the bantering energy Moore and Barbara Bach had, with no success whatsoever.
8. Talisa Soto as Lupe Lamora - Beautiful woman, weak character. Merely another "kept woman."
9. Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones - This one doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother most fans, as I accept the utter ridiculousness (it is a Bond movie, after all), but still, it is Denise Richards playing a nuclear physicist named Christmas Jones...which isn't even a good cheeky double entendre.
10. Gemma Arterton as Agent (Strawberry) Fields - It's not Arterton's fault, but it is a useless character, barely there. And am I forgetting, or was she never even referred to as "Strawberry Fields?" Don't name her Strawberry Fields if you're not going to mention it!

Watching the train scene where Bond and Vesper meet for the first time, it really is electric chemistry.
Of course, that is what makes the trains go doon the track.I really hope this movie does not turn out like 'Road To Perdition', trying too hard to be worthy and ending up overly ponderous to the point of bringing on the snoozy.
I think the danger is it could end up having the opposite problem of QoS, too much of the folk talking in rooms, and not enough action and thrills.
I know there was that news report on that, but I don't believe that had any real basis in evidence, I do believe though that this is where this movie could genuinely go, and that is because of the way RtP was handled by Mendes.
I was very disapointed in that movie, think i even sold my dvd.
If the pace of the new Bond flick is the same as that one, ugh.
She is a fine actress, and I hope she doesn't retire any time soon. But 77 is just too old for somebody to credibly have executive control of a secret service. It must be an incredibly stressful, demanding and tiring job; and British civil servants genuinely get pensioned off at 65-70, anyway. Sad to say, but a spymaster's judgement and fitness would be a constant concern, where he or she to retain the position as they approached their 80s.i dont see why folks think this could be dench last role as m. sure she is getting old. But she is still in good shape and a fine actress. Would hate to see her go.
It's partly DC's natural warmth and charisma, and partly a more nuanced script than usual. We generally used to be expected to believe that Bond only had to raise his eyebrow and say something faintly disgusting to a woman for her to wrap her legs around his head; but DC's Bond actually uses some humour and playful chat.Watching the train scene where Bond and Vesper meet for the first time, it really is electric chemistry. I've never seen an actor more suave and charming than Daniel Craig, honestly. The man is simply electrifying. I think he's the best Bond ever.
I'm more hoping this movie doesn't end up like QoS; which also had an A+ cast, and director but still managed to drop the ball.
