Oh, Entertainment Weekly, you and your ludicrous lists. I certainly wouldn't put Jinx on the "Best" list, or Octopussy on the "Worst," either, and Rosa Klebb's inclusion is just baffling. My own picks:
BEST
1. Eva Green as Vesper Lynd - She may not be the action heroine that Wai Lin or Jinx were, but Bond has never had a truer equal. She may not have been Mrs. James Bond, but Bond never had a greater love, or a greater match. Daniel Craig and Eva Green are electric together onscreen.
2. Barbara Bach as Major Anya Amasova
3. Sophie Marceau as Elektra King
4. Diana Rigg as Teresa Di Vicenzo
5. Michelle Yeoh as Wai Lin
6. Luciana Paluzzi as Fiona Volpe
7. Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp
8. Honor Blackman as ***** Galore
9. Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder
10. Claudine Auger as Domino
WORST
1. Britt Ekland as Mary Goodnight - I don't think any Bond girl has ever been more thoroughly useless.
2. Jill St. John as Tiffany Case - Initially, there are gestures toward a clever, fun character here - and by the end of the movie she's just a bikini on an oil rig.
3. Tanya Roberts as Stacey Sutton - Shrill, boring, and laughable paired with Roger Moore.
4. Gloria Hendry as Rosie Carver- Couldn't she have been a little competent?
5. Corinne Clery as Corinne Dufour - The scene where Drax sends his dogs after her is chilling and very well crafted, but Corinne herself is just another non-entity victim character.
6. Mie Hama as Kissy (not named in the film, by the way) - None of the Bond girls in You Only Live Twice are particularly compelling, but here's the dullest.
7. Lois Chiles as Dr. Holly Goodhead - Moonraker is merely a rehash of The Spy Who Loved Me with marginal differences, and here they tried to recapture the bantering energy Moore and Barbara Bach had, with no success whatsoever.
8. Talisa Soto as Lupe Lamora - Beautiful woman, weak character. Merely another "kept woman."
9. Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones - This one doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother most fans, as I accept the utter ridiculousness (it is a Bond movie, after all), but still, it is Denise Richards playing a nuclear physicist named Christmas Jones...which isn't even a good cheeky double entendre.
10. Gemma Arterton as Agent (Strawberry) Fields - It's not Arterton's fault, but it is a useless character, barely there. And am I forgetting, or was she never even referred to as "Strawberry Fields?" Don't name her Strawberry Fields if you're not going to mention it!
