James Bond In Skyfall - Part 6

This is the third Craig Bond. It should be clear by now to all that this isn't your daddy's 007.

Daniel Craig is a slightly better version of Timothy Dalton. His Bond and his movies are nothing new. The franchise has been down this route before. And I'm perfectly okay with that. Casino Royale is a GREAT movie and I even enjoyed Quantum of Solace. But the 4-year hiatus was not good for the franchise. Skyfall is a movie we should have gotten in 2010. For 2012, the 50th anniversary of the franchise, it's just too moody. Craig fanboys are eating this up, but the rest of us would have preferred something more along the lines of GoldenEye.

I wonder will this one follow the trend of Connery and Moore with their third movies and end up being a fan favorite like Goldfinger and The Spy Who Loved Me are.

the probleme is the decline began (more or less) right after those...

Trust me. Only Craig fanboys are excited for Skyfall. The trailer has left everyone else with a big, "meh" as their reaction. It's that most of you guys live in a bubble.

Repeatedly saying you speak for the majority doesn't make it true.

I haven't spoken to every single person in the planet, but from what I've heard and read, Craig fanboys LOVE the trailer and everyone else thinks it's too moody. And here at SHH, I may be the most outspoken but clearly I'm not alone since a few others have also said similar things. As I said 12 hours ago, none of us know what the film will be like yet. We haven't seen it yet. But the marketing by Sony/MGM could be a lot better. Keep in mind these are the same people who just gave us those awful Men in Black 3 posters. Sony's marketing department is very flawed right now.

I don't understand why the 50th anniversary holds any creative influence. I think just getting a film the same year is enough.

I'm a Pierce Brosnan fanboy and I'm pretty excited to see this Bond film. As Blitzkrieg Bop said, it's just awesome that they were able to get this film out in the same year. If I want to memorialize the 50th year in another way, there's going to be plenty of fanservice to do so.

Wanting Goldeneye for a Daniel Craig Bond movie is rather unrealistic, since it may be James Bond but Craig's style is totally different than Brosnan's, and Craig will maintain the style that has carried him from CR to QOS. Skyfall is striking the right tone for this new era of James Bond, and you should just enjoy it for what it is, not whether it should copy another movie from over a decade ago.

I'm not a craig fanboy and i find the term degrading and stupid. I just like quality films with great lighting, cinematography, and direction. This film is shaping up to have all three. I don't give two ****s who plays bond as long as they do it well. If that makes me a Craig fanboy as these other fanboys say then whatever. I'm a fan of whoever can play the part. Furthermore I don't give two ****s if this is moody. I do not like the campy bond films of yore. Matter of fact I didn't like Bond until CR and I still only like a few of them. So yeah this is the Bond I like. Times are a changing. The formula can either change or stagnate and die. So yeah y'all go on and be nostalgic for the days of yore when Bond was campy. Be miserable and *****. I'm gonna enjoy this film.

No one has said that. The trailer is simply too moody for a Bond film.

Who says? You? Who the **** are you? Casino Royale and QoS earned plenty of money and their trailers were no different than this. You're in the minority, don't pretend otherwise.

It's more of an expression. GoldenEye follows the standard Bond format but updates it for the `90s and the post-Cold War. With the announcement that Q was back and possibly MoneyPenny as well. And also that it would be standalone, not following CR and QoS. There was some hope that a Craig Bond film would follow the more traditional Bond formula. But this teaser trailer indicates otherwise.

Quantum of Solace made money, but most people didn't like it. So, a less moody trailer would have been wiser. To most people, there hasn't been a good Bond movie in 6 years. So, a movie exciting trailer could have helped to hype them.

Darkman where are you getting your information that only Craig fanboys are liking it? Youtube comments?

I didn't say liking it. I said LOVING it. As Matt said, most people's initial reaction has been, "this doesn't look like a James Bond movie." The trailer hasn't hyped the non-Craig fanboys. And no, this isn't from YouTube comments. This is from real-life and other message boards.

How do you or Matt know that's what most people are thinking?
So you don't want Dark and Brooding......."Darkman?"
The only thing I have seen that is Dark and Brooding today is Doctor Jones Avatar....:awesome:

WTH is a Daniel Craig famous anyway. Was that just made up now? Stupid

You don't know that. A film doesn't make 600 million if people don't like it, regardless of what film critics say.

Point is, don't presume to speak for the majority, especially when really, you're in the minority.

Your opinion is your opinion alone and that's fine.

Casino Royale and QoS are no different then the other Bond films in context. They are the Bond films of now. You don't make Goldeneye or Goldfinger now because they wouldn't work now.

Also if you are looking for the best talent going to make these films, they probably don't want to make those movies. There is a big difference between being inspired by something and making it again.

I suppose I'll weigh in on the trailer. I love Bond, it's one of my all time favorite franchises and this trailer got me pretty excited. I wished it showed more, but it is just a teaser. Some of those shots are just awesomely awesome. Color me pleased.

Wait, so now people who only like Craig's Bond are Craig fanboys? What kind of logic is that??

I thought people who just liked Craig's Bond are people who like his Bond for just being Bond? You act as if the only people who love this trailer are people who love Daniel Craig only, not people who love Daniel Craig as Bond, or hell, just James Bond period.

We're excited because it's been four years since the last one, it's a James Bond film, the talent that is attached is superb, the trailer was ****ing awesome, this movie looks very promising, and yes, we love Daniel Craig as Bond. It's apart of the whole package.
