James Bond In Skyfall - Part 8

If all the Bond actors were to have a fight, Lazenby would probably beat the crap out of all of them. But specifically between Connery and Craig, Connery was definitely the more athletic in his prime. He was a professional bodybuilder and was a good enough footballer that he was offered a contract with Manchester United (he declined to go into acting instead. He was also an avid swimmer and golfer, and when they were first cast as Bond he was also five years younger. So he's bigger, an athlete, and younger than Craig.

Yeah, I'd definitely go with Connery regardless of how they physically look like.

Connery on the left to be fair he didn't have this physique in his bond days but that was due to nobody asking him to buff up like they did for craig. He'd probably go even bigger as has been mentioned he was a former bodybuilder.

How does that change how he looks in the films? That is the thing, yes he was a former bodybuilder. But that doesn't mean he looked like one in the film and does it really matter if any one didn't ask him to get in that kind of shape? He wasn't in that kind of shape. One of the more fascinating aspects of filmmaking today are the efforts some actors go through to physically prepare for a role.

Also, some of you seem to be missing the point. We are talking about who on film looks the best fighting. Craig has an advantage from the get go that he doesn't look awkward in action, perhaps because he is a bit shorter and he has a good center of balance. His strikes look powerful and when he grapples it actually looks like a struggle. Go and watch the uncut PTS, it is on youtube if you don't own the disc. It is brutal. He drags the target across the restroom floor and then drowns him in a sink and it looks pretty convincing. It is no contest.

Oh and he doesn't throw "judo chops".

Are you talking about real life? because Sean Connery would of beat the **** out of all of them in real life.

The Johnny Stompanat incident alone showed how much of a badass Connery was in his prime.

I think Connery's Bond was the toughest overall as well.

Roger Moores was the weakest. Moore always looked like he could be taken out with one punch.

All I'm seeing here is, "My dad could beat your dad up."

Some very sexy photos of bernice and cool other trailer.

Is Bond and the chick on the boat an intentional echo of Bond and Vesper on the boat? Perhaps this is how they'll still tie it into the other two: that Bond still isn't over her. Though I hope not.

Oh come on bond and a chick on a boat makes you think of that. She is probably just taking bond to meet sliva.

The colour palette is the same and the boat looks similar. As I said, I hope I am wrong.

Yeah, but Lazenby wouldn't bother to show up.

Lazenby might throw one punch and then someone will convince him that it's a sinking ship and he'll decide to quit.

And then he'll criticize the other guys if any of them drinks a beer after the fight.

Anyone know if the new trailer's available for downloading? I wanted to watch it on my tv. It's great. :D

There's a shot in the first trailer where Bernice is standing by the window, and we see a view of her from outside the building. That shot coupled with the music makes her look absolutely ravishing.

And i'm not knocking anyone's taste but i've been avoiding these threads because they're basically 90% Connery worship. Yes, he was the first Bond. But the greatest thing since sliced bread, he was not.

With fight-scenes, Lazenby was great.

Connery with his body building day's physique as Bond would have been a disaster and chances are he never would have been cast. As big and strong as he was in '62 Fleming was horrified at his casting. Imagine if Connery showed up with a physique like Craig, it just never would have happened. Fleming originally thought he was too physical and imposing as it was, I believed he used the words, 'overgrown stuntman' to describe Connery. This was of course before Fleming had a change of heart and joined the bandwagon of the Connery worship committee.

Connery never looked awkward in action. DC still isn't believable to me as an overpowering type fighter... he's just a scrapper/brawler type which I have had a hard time identifying as Bond.

I also have Moore at two, and I can see the case for For Your Eyes Only as being his best even though I prefer The Spy Who Loved Me. The real problem with the list is Timothy Dalton at three. He does not deserve to be anywhere near that high. Even if you like that take on Bond, Craig does it better than Dalton does.

I've never taken the time to really sit through any of dalton's bond films but can someone give me a brief comparison between the differences and similarities of dalton's and craig's bond's?

They both seem to have arrived in a similar manner following aging bond actors whose bond films became too bloated and cheesy and then providing a rougher take on the character.
