James Bond In Skyfall - Part 8

I actually agree. I won't say that it is great or anything, but outside of Madonna, Berry, and the ridiculous diamond face changing stuff, there is actually an pretty okay film going on with Die Another Day before they get to Iceland. Once in Iceland, Rosamund Pike is literally the only good thing. Everything else ranges from terrible to some of the worst crap I have ever seen.

I think the main problem was that it became a science fiction film. I can put up with Halle Berry, the movie's theme song and Madonna's cameo, the bad CGI, the invisible car (which I was perfectly okay with), the electricity suit, Bond para-surfing, the weapon satellite being re-used from DAF, and the cheesy lines, but the one thing that ruined the movie for me. The unforgivable sin was the incredibly stupid reveal of Gustav Graves being Col. Moon!!!

IMO Toby Stephens did such a good job that Gustav should've been his own villain instead of the needless tacked on twist. So fu** Neal Purvis & Robert Wade with their gene therapy bullsh**. Ironically, Roger Moore fans should be proud of the movie because it fits right in as one giant tribute film to him.

After you only live twice you would think the Bond people would stay clear of the Asian/Caucasian race swapping thing

I think it was flawed throughout. The opening sequence in North Korea should have been exciting, but it somehow managed to be extremely boring. That sense of overblown tedium pervaded throughout. It reminds me of Peter Jackson's "King Kong".

I can see this. More then a fair view point. I still shake my head every time I see Pierce in that suit at the start.

I think it just starts to add up. Like bits that have a lot of potential are are still pretty cool, get pulled down by this weird stuff. Like the Cuba bit. A lot of fun, but these little things that nag at you. The sword fight is beyond cheesy and yet still funny, but Madonna's presence and "acting" leave a bad taste in the mouth.

However, as much as I hate Graves being Moon, the worst thing in the film for me is the role reversal they decided on with Berry and Pike.

I do find this hilarious. It is so much like a Roger MooreBond film it is kind of frightening. They even have the old, old Bond trying to be a ladies man and looking ridiculous.

The big problem with Die Another Day is that it borrows so heavily from Diamonds Are Forever (Death Satellite, Villain apparently killed only to find out later he was posing as an eccentric billionaire, etc.). If you are going to rip off previous films, don't rip off the worst one!

The World is Not Enough I liked alot. The only thing I didn't like was Denise Richards. I think its better than Tomorrow Never Dies.

I actually liked Robert Carlyle's villain Renard and thought he was one of the better Brosnan era villians.

The World is Not Enough is often said to be the worst Bond film in retrospectives, but I thought it was pretty good. It wasn't without issue, but in particular I found that the main plot where the Bond girl ends up being the main villain was interesting and clever, at least for a Bond film. It also has Bond having to deal with a crippling shoulder injury for the majority of the film which is different. The big problem is Denise Richards. She really drags down the film. If that character didn't exist, then I would have TWINE firmly in the middle of the pack of Bond films.

I love The World Is Not Enough. Its my favorite Brosnan film and IMO (as unpopular as it is) is better than Goldeneye. I didn't mind Denise Richards, but the fact her character was a nuclear scientist can basically be summed up to "LOL, GTFO of here!"

TWINE is a guilty pleasure of mine, that I use to find great, but kind of saw the light on more recently. I love the idea of it, I love the majority of casting and I like a lot of what happens. The return of Valentin is awesome. But it has problems structurally, has some really lazy writing and has one of the worst bits of casting in the whole series.

So much of the film hings on the James/Elektra relationship and I just can't buy him "falling in love". It is too quick, too easy, especially after CR.

Oh and the fracking gadgets. God do I hate those gadgets. Still in my top 10.

They didn't rip off A View to a Kill.

A View to a Kill was a rip off of Goldfinger. At least then they ripped off a good movie. Christopher Walken and Patrick Macnee put AVTAK over DAF.

Whatever it is, it is by far the worst film. A View to a Kill is beyond horrible, and DAF isn't much better. Both old Bond movies as well. Imagine that...

Brosnan films had really unappealing cinematography. Sometimes they would look like TV movies. I'm glad Craig's films don't suffer the same fate. Casino Royal looked great (even with that ugly DI job that made everything seem overcooked), Quantum of Solace (even with the terrible editing), and Skyfall speaks for itself; probably the best looking Bond film since You only live twice.

AVTAK is hardly an old Bond film. Old Bond is 60s Bond. Even DAF is pushing it.

By old Bond, I literally mean old Bond. Bond is old, out of shape and just looks unconvincing trying to pick up beautiful women, sneaking and beating ass. DAD is another such film.

Speaking of DC that's another thing that bothers me about the guy... no way that troll lookin' dude is pickin' up all these hot women.

He married Rachel Weisz. Rachel bleeding Weisz. He is doing something right. :woot:

Sorry, my mistake.

I believe he's obligated to do 1 more after this.

I wish they didn't waste him on a bad one like Quantum of Solace. Only Connery and Moore have had more than one really great Bond film to date, and Skyfall will hopefully make Craig the third.

Yeah I have very high hopes for Skyfall because of everybody involved. I don't see how it could fail. If it does then I would be shocked.

Beautiful women aren't beyond old, dirty, out of shape men.

Four Craig Bond films would be perfect! I was happy with getting at least one more(Skyfall) but a just one more Craig film would be like the best icing possible on the cake. :D

Plenty of women go gooey over him, though. As a male, I tend to find there is often a variance between what I think a handsome man looks like and what women actually find attractive.
