That's true, but I think their acting and, again, chemistry contributed more to that than the script itself, even in CR.

Oh, I agree. But them having great chemistry allows them to get away with. They work together like it is the most nature thing.

I also think there is something to be said about Mathis narrating the poker match. It feels like we know him better then we do.

But I just don't think I'd like to see any other ending for QoS other than the one we got. One of the best Bond finales ever, imo. Of course, they could've inserted the scene after Bond's goodbye to Camile, but this way it works to the theme we're talking about with regard to Mathis' death.

But I just don't think I'd like to see any other ending for QoS other than the one we got. One of the best Bond finales ever, imo. Of course, they could've inserted the scene after Bond's goodbye to Camile, but this way it works to the theme we're talking about with regard to Mathis' death.

The final shot of the necklace in the snow is classic Bond.

Apparently it was suppose to bookend with the CR gunbarrel. Mr. White was suppose to be the one on the end of Bond's bullet in the QoS gunbarrel ending. There is a shot out there with Mr. White sitting down a pointing a gun.

True and definitely true. He was our eyes in that scene (as well as Vesper's). Being all warm and smiling helped a great deal, too. You could tell in CR he had seen some s**t in his life and he decided to live a bit... differently. I could see Bond wanting to be like him when he grows older. He seemed like he had relative peace of mind.

Very true. It is why I think he felt so compelled to help him. Why he truly couldn't be angry at James. He had been there, done that. He understood his rage and was trying to help him through it.

It could happen, it'd seem weird in the context of the opera scene where they're all voting on their actions, but I'd love to see a Blofeld type again....or even Blofeld himself if they can sort out that legal stuff.

Without a doubt, the symmetry and usage of the trademark sequence would've been golden and much more telling of a closing chapter. Don't you think it'd kinda negate the whole bodycount subplot, though?

The desperate fanboy in me still expects Silva to turn out to be this continuity's Blofeld. But I know he's more of a Trevelyan/Scaramanga hybrid.

Well the thing is, I would have thought that they got his location from the work Bond had already done, including the capture of Vesper's boyfriend and what happened at the Opera. Thus this would have been a mission from M, and perhaps you could consider it a bit of thank you from her.

I'm getting a huge TMWTGG vibe from Skyfall, Bond's "death" and him being in a lousy state afterwards, Silva/Scaramanaga...

Watching right now and thinking about the kind of scenes I would add.

- Restore the Mr. White ending.

- Add a scene where Mathis and Bond meet Mathis contact capable of getting Bond the necessary identification he needs. Would have given them a chance to bond, while also getting to meet one of Mathis' buddies.

- Add a scene prior to them getting their hotel, where Bond, Fields and Mathis go on a little bit of an information gathering mission. Perhaps Bond accompanies him to see the general and they get in a little trouble. Give Fields a bit of an action scene.

- Extend the party scene to include a bit more of Fields trying and perhaps failing at the secret agent thing. Because Mathis does not go and see the general by himself, perhaps he could be there as well trying to help. Then the cops jump him and stuff him in the truck.

- Add a scene where Bond and Camille arrive at the little town. Have them have to wait for the next bus to arrive. Have them stay in one of the little shacks but unable to clean up do to the lack of water (a more clear why to get that little bit across). Then desperate, hot need to feel sex. I would have also put the "your prison is in here" speech here.

- I would have changed the Camille/Bond interaction in the car. The end of the conversation would have went something like this.

Bond: Did it help?

A long pause. No answer. Both understand that it didn't.

Camille: Maybe it will be different for you.

Bond: Maybe.

The kiss and she walks away.
