I don't mind the 'updated' covers, to be honest, but I still think this kind of covers are always cooler and richer:

So they're giving the covers a modern feel.

Is that wrong?

The intention may not have been wrong, but the execution is damn poor.

They're so... bland.

Why did they not hand over the project to an artist and ask him/her to draw entirely new posters for each film, instead of photoshopping whatever picture they could find of the actor over a simplistic background?

They don't look like James Bond covers, they look like The Transporter / Blitz / insert-other-Jason-Statham-films-here ones.

I actually really like the covers. I like the simplicity of the Connery ones.

Not a huge fan of those covers. So those are gonna be the reprints? They're kind of bland.

I much prefer those three vintage 007 covers below them.

The link to the covers doesn't work but of the ones posted I like the Goldfinger cover.

I hope that the next wave of Bond movies are coming soon!

On Her Majesty's Secret Service
GoldenEye
The Living Daylights
A View to a Kill
Diamonds are Forever
Tomorrow Never Dies
Octopussy
You Only Live Twice
The Spy Who Loved Me

Bland you say. I've seen the lineup of the entire run and I'll be getting that set as I see them. So far I have 4 of the new ones. By Sept I should have them all and start getting the vintage ones.

Just do what I do...

Print off hq Blu-ray size versions of the original novel covers. Looks sexy on glossy paper...

Do the new BR discs have the same special features as the previous releases? Or do I need to buy Goldfinger again?

i'm pretty sure they'll have all of the features from the previous releases.

My God, DAF and Connery in it can't look good in any way, shape or form, can they?

But GE and OHMSS don't look half bad.

The Goldeneye one looks like a cover for one of those female erotic novels or something.

The on her majesty's secret service cover is like the matthew mcconaughey leans on things movie posters

Yes, it does. The crap that women buy in airport shops, and then fold the front page back so no one can see that they are reading cheap smut.

One has to ask why 007 has decided to perch jauntily against a lamp post opposite the Houses of Parliament, brandishing a very small and very old Beretta?

It looks like his contemplating either jumping or shooting himself

The black and white covers we're talking about with Bond facing the location? Yeah, those aren't that interesting to look at it. They look more like a Men's Fragrance advertisement in a magazine to me.

It looks like both versions are available in the UK. Are they doing U.S. reprints at all anytime soon? I've been meaning to buy a Bond book (CR) one of these days once I'm done with my reading right now.

Maybe, but they are meant to be more literary covers rather than movie poster type covers. It's back to the old style of Bond being just a shadow or outline or not even shown. I've got the first wave of 4, the rest will be out by Sept 6 and by then the retro covers start roilling out which I will also be getting. The US versions look like smaller versions of the Penguin covers.

I like how they did the universal shadowed outline on a solid color cover like they did in the 80's-early 90's in that style. I've got all of them up to that point in that style too, which actually ended up my most read copies. Like these - http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5D9uZtcEVR4/TzvPicVK8nI/AAAAAAAAF4E/9Pwp5d3M--4/s1600/gardnerus1.jpg
I also got myself the Gardner reprints when they came out earlier this summer. http://www.john-gardner.com/sites/default/files/Bond8.jpg

I've always been a fan of using stills as home video covers. (Criterion Collection are the masters of this) so I find these very refreshing. Sure they could have been better if they'd use actual stills, but you cant get everything.
