Yes, it's very recent. And no, the Sinister Six remained the same only for 26 years and really didn't show up very often. In 1990 they brought them back and replaced Kraven with Hobgoblin. Subsequent line ups kept changing the roster. Changing the roster doesn't mean it's "watered down." It would only be a different lineup. Speaking of fanservice, wouldn't pandering to fans and forcing in the original Sinister Six fall under that category? I haven't been here long, but you seem to be the one talking about how things don't have to be like the comics the most. Besides, the roster of the Sinister Six isn't what made it fun. It's the idea behind it. Six villains attacking Spider-man at one time. That's a good idea on its own and as long as the villains who comprise its ranks are handled properly, it will be good.
