Also, is anyone else reminded of that cheesy movie where the serial killer gets the electric chair and then finds out he can transport himself through electrical sockets? lol. Not a huge fan of that idea for Electro.

Yeah, that was the movie Shocker from Wes Craven. I hope they can pull those scenes off fairly well.

But Electro could do that in the comics...

:applaudyup my first thought as well....shocker :woot:

another thought why isn't he called eelectro?

I don't think Electro will die at this end of this film. Fox is too big of a star and they'd probably want to keep him on deck for a potential S6 down the line.

Anyone else not too keen on The Lizard being a part of the S6? Doesn't make sense given how his story ended and the fact that he wasn't really "evil" or seeking vengeance on Spidey (or the city) once he was imprisoned.

I agree, Electro will most likely return for a sequel.

I don't think that Lizard will or should join S6... ever.

So let's say we get Electro and Goblin in the S6 definitely. Then, there's 4 more spots to fill. Not gonna be an easy task to introduce that many villains by the time we get the S6.

You forgot about Rhino.

That's immediately what it reminded me of. So cheesy and cartoonish. I don't see it being any different in the movie...I'd prefer he stay in his corporeal form.

Could he? Since when? Is this a development within the past couple years? Because From the 60's comics up until I can remember, he could never do that.

Also. This happened in the comics:

And also this:

Perhaps these should be in the movie as well. After all they were in the comics. And that's all that matters, right?

Sadly I can't even make out what scene it was in that bootleg trailer since the camera was so far away. I'll need to see a close up in an official trailer down the road. The idea sounds cool on paper, but as you said it could come off as rather silly.

I understand it's meant to make him more "threatening", but it's really pushing the boundaries of the world they've established into that of a cartoon. Just saying "it's based on a comic book! It's fantasy! Anything can happen!" is frankly, lazy.

Maybe Lizard joins the S6 not because he's evil, but because he has no choice. Maybe Norman offers him a cure in exchange of joining, or he's dying and Norman can save his life.

There are three classic S6 members already (Lizard, Electro, Rhino). Assuming that Norman becomes GG eventually (which is likely), there is your leader. As for the other two members, I's like to see Kraven and Mysterio.

Yes. He's apart of in the comics, isn't he? Some of these characters can't be extremely detailed you know.

No. He was a member of the "Emissaries of Evil" lol. At one point "the Legion of Loser" and possibly the "Insidious Six"(?), but not the Sinister Six.

Huh? Electro is the only classic member you've listed.

He was a member of the Sinister Six after the Origin of Species storyline. He was also a member of the Sinister Six in the Spectacular Spider-man cartoon.

I think the same.

I see what you mean about Lizard. He's not really out to get Spidey kind of thing. We'll see how that plays out.

And Electro was the Red Skull's son in the 90's cartoon. lol.

"Origin of Species"? Is this from the past couple years? Must be very recent.

At this point, you could take any 6 members of Spidey's rogues gallery and then call them the "Sinister Six". Seems like easy fan service.

The fact is, that for 40+ years of Spidey's 50 year history, the Sinister Six was comprised of the same 6 members. I'd prefer to see that. Not some watered down version.

Yes, it's very recent. And no, the Sinister Six remained the same only for 26 years and really didn't show up very often. In 1990 they brought them back and replaced Kraven with Hobgoblin. Subsequent line ups kept changing the roster. Changing the roster doesn't mean it's "watered down." It would only be a different lineup. Speaking of fanservice, wouldn't pandering to fans and forcing in the original Sinister Six fall under that category? I haven't been here long, but you seem to be the one talking about how things don't have to be like the comics the most. Besides, the roster of the Sinister Six isn't what made it fun. It's the idea behind it. Six villains attacking Spider-man at one time. That's a good idea on its own and as long as the villains who comprise its ranks are handled properly, it will be good.

Fair Enough. I totally forgot about the Hobgoblin replacing Kraven in the "revenge of the sinister six" storyline. My bad.

I believe that there should be as much verisimilitude to the comics as possible- up to a point, of course. Marvel Studio's and Joss Whedon to a larger extent, proved that it could work (albeit in an updated, modern fashion)

The Original Sinister Six were Spidey's deadliest foes out for blood. That was the draw. Hwo's he going to defeat six of his deadliest foes at once? Replacing these menacing, deadly characters with a sympathetic character like the Lizard (why would he want to kill Peter?) or a silly B-grade villain, like the Rhino(Webb has already said that he won't be a huge threat and that he's quite dim), does seem to water down the material to an extent.

If you recall, Doc Ock reached out to Spider-man's other foes, including Green Goblin. The only one who didn't want Spider-man dead was Lizard. The thing is, deadly qualities can still apply to his other villains. They're still deadly and dangerous. Webb said Rhino wouldn't be in the movie much and that he's stupid, but he also hinted that he could come back. With a team, Rhino's strengths could be put to better use than he could be on his own. After all, Flint Marko and Max Dillon aren't the most competent villains on their own. And the Lizard could join if given proper incentive. It's up to the film makers to create something that allows a different roster to work, and if done effectively it certainly isn't watered down.

I would also assume they're drawing from multiple sources, as any good adaptation of a comic book does. With that in mind, the Ultimate Six's lineup, the Spectacular Spider-man show lineup, 616, and any number of things might be fit together to help craft a new one for the purposes of this take on the story of Spider-man. It can work. It's all in the execution. If deviating from canon in certain ways didn't work, I'd be plenty ******** about every superhero movie to date.

The Lizard can be a reluctant member, maybe even turn on the others at some point. Peter can get Black Cat to help him with the S6 (if that is who Jones is playing).
