Good, it's working then
It's amazing how Nolan was able to fit Deathstroke into the Dark Knight Rises.
Good, it's working then
I'm not even gonna watch the movie.
that's a classic one. There was definitely a mixed reaction and a lot of distaste for the look, initially, mainly due to the extreme close-up pic they chose to release as the "reveal". I, myself, hated that and didn't understand it. People came around as more official pictures and character descriptions came about, but the biggest point of contention was the fact that his skin wasn't permanently white and that he instead chose to apply smeared make-up. There was an entire thread devoted to the "Perma-white" debate. Also, I know a lot of people weren't crazy about the scarred face/smile at the time, which was not at all a true or popular staple of The Joker's comic book canon.
Once the first official TDK trailer/teaser of footage dropped that gave us multiple looks at The Joker along with voiceover dialogue and in-scene dialogue, I think the majority of fans were then fully on-board with Ledger's Joker. By that time, I was thrilled and excited for it beyond belief, and I admit, I'm also pretty damn excited to see/hear more footage/dialogue of Leto's Joker. The first reveal pic of this Joker was similarly off-putting and upsetting to me, but after all we've seen now (which still isn't much at all), I'm all-aboard.
It was, quite literally, a madhouse. To be fair, no film since TDK had the kind of hype that movie had, and I don't think we'll ever get one that will. It was the perfect storm, Superhero films still weren't nearly as commonplace as now, and it had been almost 20 years since Big J had been seen in live action.
The speculation of who would play him was gigantic, and we burned through tons of threads just debating that. Hulme, Depp, and Bettany were amoung the most popular names. Heath came out of left field completely, and his casting alone inspired tons of debate. "The guy from a Knights tale? It'll be Brokebat Mountain!"
The first pic is when things really blew up. It pretty much split the fanbase. Some people hated it, some people loved it, some people, like myself, weren't sure. And to be fair, that first pic was much more dramatic in how striking the cut smile was and the makeup. Ill admit, I wasnt a huge fan, but I was intrigued.
But the look spawned a whole thread called, "In Nolan I don't trust," and a counter thread, "In Nplan I trust" or something to that effect.
It also started the great "perma-white vs Makeup" debates.
Those were nuts. They lasted from the release of the first pic right up until when the film came out. For a solid half year or so, the debate on ledger was massive. It wasn't until we started getting more pictures, Caine dropped the tidbit about his performance being "Oscar worthy" and finally the first trailer came out that the debate about him started to die down.
In comparison, everything surrounding this Joker has been very tame. And to be honest, I dislike this design more than I did Ledgers. But overall, the reaction has been pretty tame.
I know. I wish I could love it...
Beautiful.

Now I want this version of The Joker to have a tattoo that says "*****".

Maybe he has one.![]()
That would be extremely painful
For you.
I don't think there's a guy big enough who can withstand that amount of pain
While in character, Leto said he listened to 1920s gospel music and read literature on shamans. I always get the sense that The Joker may be much older than people think. Its something different. If you dont break rules, youre not going to strike new ground. I think Ill be cooling down for the rest of my life, he explained.
Considering that is one of my favorite depictions of the character on any medium, I hope Leto drew inspiration from that.http://batman-news.com/2015/10/26/j...-up-about-playing-the-joker-in-suicide-squad/

Something that came to mind, considering he was talking with Morrison.
I prefer this version of the cover tbh
