Yes, on nerdy online message boards. But the public seemed to really take to Ledger's look. But with this, it almost feels like the opposite: the message boards are defending Leto's look, while the public is still 50/50 on it.

Haha, where does the idea that the public is 50/50 on it come from?

I was responding to Jekecy's post in which he said that people seem to be incredibly passionate about the tats and grills. I assumed he meant fans like ourselves (who often happen to frequent message boards), since we both know that "the public" is not passionate and obsessively focused on those things.

Either way, the public is always more forgiving when it comes to changes to a character's appearance as most people don't have anywhere near the same kind of connections to these characters that we do. There are probably millions of people who had no idea that Heath's Joker not being perma-white was actually a deviation from the source material, and if they did know, they didn't care. Most people don't ***** about the things we do when it comes to this stuff, whether be about Ledger or Leto.

In terms of Leto's Joker, the reactions I've seen from the public (meaning Twitter and Facebook) seem to seem to be pretty damn positive, especially after the latest trailer. The only blow-back I've really seen from some non-comic fans has been that he doesn't look like Ledger's Joker, which is to be expected, since his Joker obviously represents the only real exposure to the character for many people of the current generation.

Yeah, the public is in no way as divided on this as the nerd community is.

Are you asking me why I brought it up, or where I'm seeing it? Because you pretty much answered that yourself in your own post(although, I highly disagree, cause I've seen a MUCH different response as far as his look goes). If you're asking why I brought it up, it was just to bring perceptive to both Ledger's and Leto's reactions. I totally understand what you were talking about with Jekecy. Are people not allowed to interject into conversations, now?

Chill out. Of course you are. I was just clarifying that I was talking more about responses from nerdy message boards like our own and not the general public's reactions to either Ledger or Leto, which is what you brought into the conversation.

In terms of the part of my post you quoted about the public being split 50/50 on Leto's Joker look, yeah, I jokingly asked where you came up with that stat. I know you were just spit-balling and speaking in general terms, but it's impossible at this point to accurately gauge the general public's perception of Leto's Joker appearance or to confidently state that the reaction to Leto's Joker outside of hardcore fan communities has been completely divided.

The worst is when a casual sees Leto joker and says "isn't he supposed to have cuts on his cheeks?"

No, you don't understand. This is a prequel to The Dark Knight, before the cuts.

Btw, rewatching the trailer, I cna put to rest the acid washing off the tattoos.

When Joker is holding Harley in the acid, she's in her Harleen Quinzel outfit of the blue button shirt and pants. Then there's the scene of her post-transformation in the car with Joker, both having the facial tattoos. So clearly the tattoos are there post-acid wash.

So, does she have a more Joker-Esque origin?

Not sure how reliable this is, but whatever.
With the latest trailer for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad just having been released, the anticipation for the film continues to grow substantially. While the trailer featured a plethora of interesting shots that raised a lot of questions, one shot in particular showcased what appeared to be what Harley Quinn’s origin will be like in the film.

I’m here to tell you that Harley Quinn won’t be the only one getting an origin story in Suicide Squad. My source spoke to me today about how we will also be seeing none other than The Joker’s origin. Now, before people get up in arms about how Joker’s ominousness was always a compelling feature to the character, this origin will most likely be something along the lines of his Red Hood origins.

The reason I say this is because my source also mentioned Batman while speaking of Joker’s origin, which reveals that it may be similar to the comics, in which Batman accidentally knocks Joker into a batch of chemicals. Lastly, my source did confirm that the origin story would, in fact, take place during a flashback.

The more I hear about this film, the more my excitement rises and we’ll all be able to witness what goes down come August 5th, 2016. Stay tuned to NotYetRated for more Suicide Squad news.

I think they're going with the New 52 origin for Harley.

I'd bet money that we WON'T be seeing Joker's origin, but yeah, seems like Harley's origin will be a mix of her classic origin and New 52 origin.

Yep. I don't see a Joker origin either. Unless it's just a quick clip of a guy in a red helmet falling into the chemicals. Maybe Joker explaining it to her before she goes into it. Even thats a stretch.

I don't know..
I can see them showing Joker's origin.
They need to set up him taking Harley to ACE for her chemical bath.

I could see jokers origin being quick flashes lasting not more than a few seconds. Just so the viewer gets the idea that joker fell in a vat that hes probably going to push harley into.

Would it be cheesy if they spliced the scene of him jumping into the chemicals with him as Red Hood falling into the chemicals?

Not if its done well. Anything could turn out to be cheesey or campy.

:funny: What a baby.

Joker wear red lips to look like a clown. He's not wearing one ring he is wearing lots of rings and necklaces and ear rings. He could give Mr T run for his money lol.

The opinion that Leto with some flamboyant jewelry on is the same as Mr. T is just asinine as cuss. It's just the usual fanboy obtuse silliness from the usual suspects so, what are ya on a do, right?

Reading your sig.

I think that Leto quote about the Joker is involved with the "I can't wait to show you my toys."

I don't think it'd be cheesy. In fact, I think it'd be quite symbolic, as the first time he went into the chemicals, he fell in and it was accidental, while the second time he willingly dives in so it could kind of signify how much of a different person he is now compared to who he was then. I think it'd be really cool

I think this is a very good possibility. I think showing him as red hood for more than a few seconds is something for maybe another movie.
