I'm not a fan of some aesthetic choices, but overall, he's shaping up to be the best Joker out there. He looks scary as ****, and Leto is straight up selling me on him being a psychopath. I love his laugh, voice, hair, permawhite, and the different outfits. And his eyes. Goddamn, those eyes just look evil.

I have a feeling he'll be the best live action Joker we've seen. He looks great, so far.

Agreed. At this juncture I don't have many (if any) gripes & I'm ready to see him chewing up the scenery. I still do think one of the best decisions was switching up his attire throughout the movie. It's gonna lend to so many nostalgic visuals when we get this whole thing.

I may be thinking a little ahead but as great as Jared is shaping up to be here, God knows I can't wait to see him in a solo Batman outing.

lol wtf, noooo Jared. I assumed it was his weird humor but then they all confirmed. I assume this is what Margot was talking about when she said she couldn't talk about in her interview with Colbert (or Fallon?)

Jared: "I did a lot of things to create a dynamic to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there. The Joker is somebody who doesn’t really respect things like personal space or boundaries."

Adewale: "We sent our own personalized message back with the Pig" ha wonder what that said

The used condoms, sticky magazines, and anal beads are where I would've drawn the line. There's being method, and then there's being disgusting. Glad the cast got a laugh out of it, though, even if you can tell Leto made some of them genuinely uncomfortable. :oldrazz:

I guess the sticky playboys, used condoms, and anal beads made the cast so uncomfortable that Jared was the one to mention it instead of one of them.

Smith said he finally got to “meet” Leto two days ago, and the pair reunited at CinemaCon, where Warner Bros. brought out nearly the film’s entire cast. “It’s the first time I’ve ever seen him not as the Joker,” Smith said. “He’s a nice guy! He’s not the kind of guy that’ll send a rat and a dead pig to your rehearsal,” he added in reference to the “gifts” Leto bestowed his rival actors in the heroic Squad.

“That was the craziest s–t, dude,” Smith laughed. “He was all in. All in. He really raised the bar for the rest of us. We were having such a great time. And then we saw Jared’s first [screen] test, and we were like, 'Uh, Jared is taking this s–t really seriously. We need to stop f–king around.”

If they ever do a sequel Im guessing there will be some new subclauses.

Sub-clause A: "Margot will receive an extra percentage of total box office gross for every used condom she finds under her pillow."

Sub-clause B: "Leto will be confined to his quarters when not shooting a scene."

Sub-clause C: "All cast and crew will be provided with copious amounts of lysol, latex gloves, regular std screenings, and tazor guns during production."

Sub-clause D: "All costs pertaining to restraining orders will be covered by WB."

"his voice is a rip off of Ledger's"
Is probably one of the most ridiculous complaints of seen so far about this joker.

jesus ****ing christ
:funny:

Calling it a ripoff is a little far but it does sound a lot like Ledger's, from what's been shown. To the point that it is distracting to me. I would've preferred something altogether different. I mean, as much as I do not like the tattoos they are at least unique.

How many variations of Joker's voice can there really be? There is only so much an actor can do with the voice. And doing something different just for the sake of being different isnt always better.

I think Jared's voice sounds similar. But not similar to the point where it's just a straight up imitation.

I agree. I appreciate that he has gone to the effort of coming up with a Joker voice to help make the character feel unique. Cesar, Heath, Mark all did it. Jared is following the tradition.

Virtually every actor who's ever done the part has done something different with the voice. I'm not saying that Leto hasn't but considering this is the first on screen portrayal since Ledger it would seem wise to try to differentiate it from such a beloved incarnation. It will be drawing a lot of comparisons after all.

Sometimes, it sounds similar but there's a subtle difference. Could be a good thing to have some similarity (for the sake of relating to the character) and yet some distinctiveness.

For example, Henry Cavill's voice is different but yet sometimes it sounds similar to Brandon Routh's voice, not saying that it's identical, it is different (Cavill's more deep) but not drastically different, there's something common.

Same thing with Jared Leto's voice, which is different than Heath Ledger's voice but still, there's something similar.

Tattoos are terrible, the teeth are terrible, his voice is a rip off of Ledger's.

I can't see any reason which justifies the choice for the tattoos. And all the gold and 'gangsta' crap. Not The Joker, aesthetically anyway. A Joker with tattoos can't be a good depiction because it is a misunderstanding of the character. BVS bombed, this looks ridiculous. I don't understand how WB can F**k Up such a wealth of characters and stories... DC will never get its chance and it sucks

And you'll still be there opening night...

Leto's voice sounds like its own version to me. If you played both voices by themselves I wouldnt have a hard time telling which one was Ledger Joker and which one was Leto Joker. So in that regard its plenty different.

Ledger's Joker had this nasal quality to it and he had moments where his voice would drop to almost a growl. You can really hear it when he is at the party and he says, "You remind me of my father. I hated my father." And, "I want you to hit me. I want you to do it. Come on. Come on do it. HIT ME!"

So far I havent heard that in Leto's Joker voice. It sounds like a different range.

I think the similarities yall are noticing has more to do with the way they speak (deliver the lines) and less to do with the actual sound of the voice. Its sorta like if you ran into two guy from the same area or into two brothers. They might talk very similar dialect, intonation and pronunciation) but their voices sound different. That make sense?

The Joker is a gangster. His attire in general is gangster themed. 1940s gangsters, but gangsters nonetheless.

Disagreed. 1940 gangsters not wear lots of gold chains and rings and wear open button shirts showing bare chest lol.

Take the 1940's gangster aesthetic and update it to modern times.

The thing with DC is that this is not the first time DC characters are shown on-screen (I'm talking about Batman, Superman, Joker). So they cannot do exact same interpretation that has been done in older movies, but at the same time they cannot make a drastic changes to the "Look" of the characters.

A fine balance is needed, which is what David Ayer's Joker is, he looks a bit different (for the sake of freshness) but still looks enough like a Joker.
