Oooh, now I really wanna see Joker in a dark setting, with his teeth glistening off the little light there is.

I've been saying since the Joker reveal that Clay Enos should have taken pictures of the Joker only in dark/darker settings. It would have eased the backlash.

This is what sold people on Ledger's Joker look.

I don't get taking pics of Leto's Joker with light or white backgrounds. It softens how intimidating he could look.

^^ Is that a Manip because I seem to remember just the head shot being released and no body in the photo. Either way, there was actually quite a bit of backlash over that photo and I was one of the people who didn't dig it. It wasn't until an actual image surfaced from the interrogation scene that made me go "Ok this looks pretty damn cool."

Heath Ledger is my favorite Joker and based on what I've seen so far, I don't see Leto's Joker changing that.

I've a feeling I'm going to give the edge in pure acting to Heath (strengthened by its novelty), but Leto is easily going to be my favorite live-action Joker. The one I've been wanting to see.

Tough to compare since Heath was the main antagonist and its tough to match the writing in The Dark Knight.

Letoker's not the main antagonist in this?

The movie seems to take some inspiration from Suicide Squad #15. Except Enchantress is given a bit of a villain upgrade because in the comic she fought against the Incubus while in the movie Enchantress and the Incubus is who the Squad is fighting against.

We know he hits her and most likely tortures her so he obviously doesn't love her all that much. I agree with what others have said, he considers her as property and so he gets annoyed when it's (she's) taken away from him. I've always interpreted it as him finding her amusing/interesting and thus he keeps her around, but he certainly doesn't 'love' her, at least in the sense that most of us would love someone. But at the same time, that doesn't mean he can't miss her when she's not there.

He's a total psychopath. How he processes, feels, and expresses his emotions is not going to be like normal people. It's impossible to quantify his feelings for Harley based on normal standards. So him hitting and torturing her may very well be how he expresses his own psychotic twisted form of love.

I agree I don't think Leto can match Heath Ledger version of the joker as his version was my favorite of all time even better than Mark Hamill version but as long as leto is good as the joker as much as I hate the look that's all that matters.

Indeed :wow:

Leto has had like maybe three lines as Joker and you've already determine that he's not your favorite?

Ledger is really hard to top. I don't expect it from Leto. But I just want a worthy portrayal. I'm not gonna watch the film because I want to see how they kicked Nolan/Ledger's ass with this new iteration of the character.

But I still believe Ledger will remain on "top".

Ledger was great obviously, but Hamill's Joker remains top dog for me overall.
All-Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder.
Yep. He then leaves the room and asks his henchwoman to "get rid of it."

I'd go even further and say that Ledger is impossible to top by Leto in "Suicide Squad". Aside from Ledger's impressive performance, the writing of the film worked in character's favor a lot, as the entire film was revolving around the Joker, or rather the character was an embodiment of film's main themes. And creating a narrative around one firmly established theme is Nolan's forte.

In SS, Joker is pretty much a side character in a film with a lot of prominent characters, so I don't think the two Jokers could be compared like this.

I talked to someone who said its better to compare it to Mask of Phantasm Joker than Heath's Dark Knight Joker. Because of the focus of others it won't have the layers/depth because he's not central to the story.

I'm just hoping Affleck includes him in The Batman film so we can truly see if it can be as good or not.

Max Landis, yea yea I know, had an interesting point.

That Leto's Joker maybe the most comic accurate in portrayal, but that doesn't mean it will be the best performance. Heath and Nolan added something to the Joker that just elevated it an ever higher level.

I know of one guy who liked it the best because it was closer to the animated Joker. However, most who have seen it agree that Ledger's Joker just has too many factors working for it in favor over Leto.
