Ayer and his choice of direction? The WB execs for their cowardice? Snyder's vision that brought on the backlash? Nolan for introducing more of the darker tone to world of DC, first with Batman and then Superman?

He probably feels like he wasted a lot of his time by spending 6 months as part of the shoot only to end up with most likely under 5 minutes of screen time.

His revalation that he hadn't seen the movie put that question in a different perspective. He was actually asking. lol

I feel like Leto either didn't have enough time to prep for the role or just let himself get psyched out. He could have been great with the right direction

I have a feeling he overthought it. I got the impression of an actor trying way too hard to convince us his character was crazy. I didn't buy what he was selling.

I'd still be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought he absolutely nailed his scene with Ike. Everything else was a bit flimsy, but Jared specifically noted he experimented a lot with each take (Margot said this as well) so the editing room had plenty of material to work with.

I really don't think we have enough to judge. His scenes were so short....even the acid bath scene so much of dialogue was cut.

Also, I do not like the tattoos and grillz, and I would love for Affleck to lose both in his solo film. Not only did the grillz interfere with Jared's line delivery, but he also got into over-the-top teeth acting which frankly annoyed me after a while.

The character needs more nuance. Even by the Joker's standards, everything about this interpretation (from the aesthetics to the performance) was too loud for me.

The character needs a lot more nuance. There's nothing to sink your teeth into with Letoker in this movie.

It has been confirmed that the dead Robin is Jason. Maybe they could do a Red Hood movie for the solo film and have Jason torture Joker to repay him.

Haven't seen the movie yet but, assuming The Joker now gets an adjustment if not a wholesale redesign, I would like to return to my suggestion of Arthur Rackham's Devil forming the basis. I remain sure that Rackham, who was huge in Britain and America prior to WWII, would have been known to Finger and Kane.

If you get around to seeing it regwec, be sure to let us know your thoughts. Very curious what you'd think of it.

Granted, he is barely in the movie, and his role is altogether pointless, but even still this interpretation just didn't grab me. It all felt so aimless. Even the tattoos and grillz contributed nothing. They didn't inform the character at all, so really I don't see the point in keeping them. Especially if the grillz impede Leto's line delivery.

I say effectively start from scratch with the Ben Affleck film. Redesign the character and refine him a bit.

I do intend to see it but my sense of urgency is blunted by the perception that what appears screen is a ruin of a movie, pulled apart by unimaginative studio bean-counters.

Leto's Joker became an instant favorite but even I can admit that his performance was nowhere near perfect. I do want more of him, and I liked what they were selling with the look and feel, but he does need better direction.

Imagine what Affleck could summon from Leto. It could be remarkably beautiful.
