And advertise him so much. People are right to complain about it.

Indeed. It's just an all around horrible move to make.

And if you guys really want to see a "I'm trying too hard" performance, check out Lea Michele in Scream Queens. The very definition of trying too hard to appear crazy. :woot:

Still doesn't negate Jared's performance...

Did I say it was meant to? It was obviously meant as a joke and a way for me to rip Lea Michele.

Oy vei....

Every time I see a side profile of him I wish they did a little bit of prosthetics on hit nose.

I actually prefer them that way, to tell you the truth.

But seriously, it's like they decided to change the Joker's look at some point in production, because once he shows up in the helicopter, his skin is much whiter and he appears to have fully-capped teeth.

I think he looks better with the full grillz, fills out the look a little better.

And I'm almost certain they did. In the original shoots he has albino-esque colored skin and in pretty much every reshoot scene he's more chalk white. Should've just went with the latter from the get go.

Dunno, given the kind of show SQ is, her kind of crazy acting seems fitting IMO.

Every person on SQ overacts.

I would say heath ledgers licking his lips was over the top, I know he was on drugs and could not help it. But I always thought that was kinda ridiculous. Every actor has added something crazy and weird to their joker.

But asking an actor to play a crazy clown you probably end up with some "crazy" things call me... crazy

^ None of Heath's mannerisms were added "because he was on drugs." That's the most inane thing I've ever heard. Every choice he made had an actual reason behind it, and there was nothing over the top about him licking his lips. It was purposely done as to remind people of his scars constantly. The same reason he told varying stories about his origins. Heath's Joker essentially fancied himself a God that needed an audience.

So no, nothing over the top about it.

Do you know about his struggles with drug use?
Have you ever done Methamphetamines?
Whether he was on drugs on set or not the licking of the lips was from his drug use, I unfortunately know all to well, methamphetamines cause you to lick your lips and move your mouth in weird ways.

He won an oscar so to many he made the right choice I think it's over the top. I think a lot of Nicholsons performance is over the top but the film called for that. I really love ceasar Romeros take but it's clearly a cartoony joker.

I honestly don't think We've ever had a bad joker and I love each actors take on them

That would be due to reshoots. Even Leto's face isn't as chiseled, because it's months after he was physically training for the part.

SS can't get much worse for me, I badly want to see the unaltered first cut. If nothing else to see the actual final Joker scene (with the grenade).

First, yes to both questions. Secondly, this is the first I'm hearing that methamphetamines cause EVERYONE who uses them to lick their lips and move their mouths in odd ways. If that's the case, why wasn't he doing it in the behind the scenes footage or in interviews? Because in everything I've seen, the only time he did so was when the camera was rolling, meaning it was purposely done as a trait for the character.

The licking of his scars/lips literally had zero to do with drug use. Nada, zip, zilch.

You're talking rubbish. The lip licking was a conscious part of his performance, not a drug induced side effect. His other performances around this time, including his last one after TDK, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, would have him licking his lips if it was an uncontrollable drug issue. Not to mention the interviews. But there was none because there was no lip licking drug issue.

If you're going to slander someone get your facts straight first.

Can't remember where I read it, but Nolan or Ledger explained that the Joker kept licking his lips because of discomfort from the scars. Like when people lick their dry, cracked lips during the winter time.

It was a conscious part of Ledger's performance.

Thank you Boom and Joker. Thank you so much.

I guess David Tennant had a drug problem when he was in Harry Potter :whatever:

Yeah, I believe it was Heath/Chris that said that the prosthetics irked him a bit and caused him to lick the scars unconsciously when he was in makeup, which became integrated into his actual performance because it would be a realistic mannerism for someone who had scars on his face.
