I have a feeling regwec is going to flip his ****.

The fact that he used that word in conjunction with describing himself as an agent of chaos says that you're wrong.

The definition of the word anarchist says I'm right.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism

"Anarchism is a political philosophy that advocates stateless societies often defined as self-governed voluntary institutions,[1][2][3][4] but that several authors have defined as more specific institutions based on non-hierarchical free associations.[5][6][7][8] Anarchism holds the state to be undesirable, unnecessary, or harmful.[9][10] While anti-statism is central,[11] anarchism entails opposing authority or hierarchical organisation in the conduct of human relations, including, but not limited to, the state system.[6][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]"

I don't remember Ledger sharing many opinions about self governing communal direct-democracies.

You mean his BS speech to recruit Harvey? The Joker's intent is made clear when speaking to Batman. He is not an anarchist. He is the psychopath.

Okay, so my knee-jerk reaction was...

"WTF!?!? What's with the tattoos and the grill? I hate it! I was expecting a more classic look for the Joker!"

Then I decided to let go of my preconceived notions and I started to look at the positives:
- He looks absolutely insane and terrifying
- He appears to be perma-white
- No perma-smile
- The eyes, lips, and hair are fantastic
- Very original take

Really, the only negatives are the tattoos (especially "damaged") and the grille. They seems so off the wall and out of character.

Then I started to re-think that. After all, if the rumors of this Joker being incarcerated are true (and they certainly appear to be), then maybe this is all his idea of a joke.

He's playing dress-up! He's poking fun at your typical hardened inmate. For comedic effect, I could even see him using stereotypical prison tough guy lingo but in his theatrical, sing-song way of speaking.

Honestly, the more I think about it and the more I look at it, the more I like the possibilities. It all comes down to interpretation, though. For now, I won't jump to any conclusions and will wait and see.
:hmm

I think the Joker's tattoos, if he must have them, should be timeless and mysterious.

Instead they look like a teenage juggalo who became obsessed with The Killing Joke and got the most obvious tattoos possible.

It's a divisive design. No doubt there.

Not sure what to think about it. Would Gotham create something like this? Sure, but I always felt that despite all of the Jokers crazy musings and antics that he was above overt thuggery like that.

It feels like one of those crazy concept art takes that look like they were made just for kicks and are doomed to never see the light of day. It doesn't look repetitive, gotta give them that.

Hahaha I'm dying, all the comments in this thread have me weak. Couldn't agree more.

I'm not crazy about the design but we haven't seen the performance yet so calling him a thug may be well off base.

Juggalo's can't read. :o

What if he was part of the Red Hood gang before and they're more like thugs rather than the mafia?

Yeah, I see what appears to be a bird wing, but honestly its too hard to tell what it is at this angle. You might be right, you might be wrong. Don't know what else to say.

Look a little up. it looks like a bird head. that's why I was a little curious to see others opinions. but they are in other channel right now :funny:

Before the reveal I envisioned an incarcerated Joker's typical day, and a big part was thinking he was given a wide berth by other inmates. Like, he eats alone at his own table not by the warden's fiat, but because the other inmates want nothing to do with him. I can totally see that with this image.

It's NOT what I would have done. I did want a more posh, for lack of a more precise term, Joker after Ledger's grungy take... Cest la vie. It's not my druthers, but... that doesn't make it bad or mean the take won't be interesting or entertaining.

Though I see that this has brought the Hype's professional "debater/arguers" to the SS threads.

As I stated... Cest la vie.

A simple test I do to decide if Joker's character design is effective is to look at it and ask myself, would I want to bump into that guy in an alley at night?

I do not want to bump into Leto Joker in an alley at night.

I read a comment that prefectly summerizes my disappointment with his design. He looks like someone who is a fan of The Joker, but doesn't look like The Joker himself. That is so true. He looks like a punk rocker who is a fan of the Joker. There's nothing unsettling about this picture. So forced and tacky. Really, really hope this isn't the final design.
