I like this look in the comics, but not for Momoa. Those colors and that sort of design wouldn't work for him. There is nothing wrong with the costume, but I don't think realistically the color or style will work for an actor with his coloring and looks.

I don't understand the relevance of your post. We are discussing the costume, not the actor, and I was asking why the costume needs to be tooled to "intimidate".

Is Aquaman an evil tyrant? Does he rule by fear?

Doncha Know? It's cuz people are afraid Aquaman will be looked at as a joke like he always has unless he is now portrayed as a badass.
Which is stupid, IMO. Aquaman will be a badass as to how he behaves, not how he dresses. I'm sure the producers will come up with an appropriate look, regardless of how traditional/untraditional the suit. if they could do it for Supes and Bats, there's no treason they can't make an orange scale mail and green suit work.

I'd be really surprised if they went traditional with the costume. I think the casting is a clear sign they are going in a radically new direction with Aquaman. Otherwise they would have cast a white blonde actor.

I'm discussing both the costume and actor. If they did cast Momoa (or any other actor) as Aquaman, I'm hoping they wouldn't make that decision to make him look like a fool in a Batman vs Superman movie. All I'm saying is that the costume should fit the the DCU that Zack Snyder started in MOS. Remember, MOS as a bit darker than previous incarnations. I don't think the Aquaman's comic book costume will work in this film. Animated yes but not live action.

Again, a lot of people said the same about Batman's comics suit. I'm getting a little tired of this "what works in the comics won't work in the films" nonsense.

The first image is more in line with what I want to see. I hate when the scales are over exaggerated (like in the second image); it always looks terrible.

He's really not that dark. George Hamilton has darker skin than Momoa.
