BvS Jason Momoa is Aquaman! - Part 2

Momoa needs to show off his muscular torso. There aren't many shirtless superheroes in CBMs. :o

Scale-mail all the way.

There ya go. With a full body shirt like that, with maybe just a hint of orange, that would be perfect. For those who think these characters all need armor, you can't get much more "armor-y" than real-life scale armor.

What's with his torso? Is he sun burnt? :o

I'm not a fan of armor on Aquaman. It doesn't make sense for the character unless they add some cultural aspect. He's near invulnerable in the comics and most which makes sense since he can swim at extreme depths. Then a swimmer in armor doesn't make sense with the added weight and metals rust.

If it was up to me he'd be wearing some kind of swimsuit

He's tough but not invulnerable.

I honestly think they could get away with a shirtless or near-shirtless Aquamoa for sure. Like its been said, Aquaman doesnt need armor really. Its like saying Superman needs armor (I know they arent exactly equal in powers, but close when it comes to invulnerability, right?

Again, a lot of people said the same about Batman's comics suit. I'm getting a little tired of this "what works in the comics won't work in the films" nonsense.

I think what you're referring to is people were saying Batman in tights won't work and not the color. Which is why they made his costume more tactical in the movies. Maybe not so much "won't work on film" but it wont work in the real world as they are making DCU more realistic. You see him in most comics (pre New 52), Batman: The Animated Series or in the Adam West Batman, those are spandex or tights, that will not work in this Chris Nolan/Zack Snyder DCU. Marvel knows this too, you don't see Chris Evans in spandex but more of a military armor.

I hate this so so so much

No matter what Momoa wears in the movie, there will be complaints. Some will like it, some will not. Bathead is right, it all comes down as to how Momoa will portray Aquaman.

I'm not saying he needs armor, I was just referring to that scale mail in the pic being an appropriate look for AM, and it would maybe help shut up those fans who insist every one be armored.
And the metal could be something that the Atlanteans have invented that's extremely light weight and corrosion proof. (It makes sense that they would invent such a metal considering their situation)
My concern is more for the look than any so-called practical consideration.

I think Aquaman's costume could work in live action. Of course like Supes and Bats things are going to have to be changed because a direct rip from the page look won't translate.

Yeah, I think it can look fine in live action. I remember back before Raimi's Spider-Man came out, I was convinced the Spidey suit would never look cool in live action, probably because I suffered through a few of those awful Spider-Man TV movies from the 70s. And then the movie came out and I was blown away by how cool it looked. Same thing with Captain America's costume.

I think it's entirely possible to make Aquaman's suit look cool too.

I would agree, and I would think they should be able to get close, much like they already have with both Batman and Superman.

The notion that he should be shirtless all the time isn't properly thought through. It would become his distinguishing feature, and would look rather strange after a while in land based scenarios. You would get a perception that there is Superman, Batman and Posingman.

I'm sure those of you who want to look at his muscles will get plenty of opportunity, anyway, but giving him only half a costume seems excessive.

These are pics of my workout bench. I keep seeing this material/pattern & think someone might want to use it for an Aquaman suit manip.

If they use this texture then Aquaman will look like Mera's workout bench. :o
