Don't blame Entourage or Family guy blame the Superfriends. Then after you blame him look at Jerry Seinfeld who had his jokes about Aquaman long before , to a much a wider audience than anyone before the internet boom.

^Having a one shot joke is a bit different than it being a running gag of a series...

Entourage didn't create the AM is lame meme by any stretch of the imagination. I worked as a teen in a comic book shop in the 1990's. Trust me... Before Johnny Drama or Seinfeld people were dumping on ole Arty.

But WB did let those Schumacher Batman movies pass.

It's revisionist history to say both Schumacher films were failures. Batman Forever was a big success for it's time. Grossed more than Returns(350 mil domestic when adjusted for inflation) and some critics thought it was an improvement over the previous installment (Siskel and Ebert for example). Not that surprising that Warner would greenlight a second Schumacher film when the first was received so well. The **** only started to hit the fan when B&R ended up being a total trainwreck. That's when fans started lumping in Forever as a bomb when that was never the case. So yes, Warner let those films happen because it made sense from a financial viewpoint.

Nobody said Entourage created it. But they sure as hell introduced it to a whole new generation of viewers

And B&R didn't lose WB money either. It was just because of the critical and fan backlash that the series went on hiatus.

Schumacher was still planning the final part of his trilogy, they had even approached Jack Nicholson to appear as the Joker again revived thanks to the Lazarus pit or some such.

Exactly, The ridicule of Aquaman has been going on at least that long. Trust me, I was there. I was a huge DC fan back then, and I can tell you that Superfriends was the worst. It made all the DC heroes look bad, but especially so for Aquaman for some reason. I hated that show.

I think that there probably will be a good sized amount of alteration to the Aquaman/DC Atlantis mythos for the practicality of filming a solo film if we get one. I just seems there are some big hurdles to get over, as others have pointed out.

Perhaps the Atlanteans don't have to be in water continuously as is the case in the comics. Much like the JL toon episodes they can have cities that are separate from the open water? Maybe they have humid, almost jungle like environments inside? This would allow for dialog scenes that don't have to have all parties under water. I also think that Aquaman's weakness to have to be in Ocean water, or at least wet on an hourly basis should be done away with for him. Make it that he could live on land indefinitely. That way you get some actual tension as to what his choice will be between Atlantis and the surface. Transfer the hourly thing to the Atlanteans themselves, which is why their cities are indeed such humid jungles. I also think that Aquaman on film should just have some straight up mind to mind telepathy to humanoids as well. I'm not saying he should be able to delve into minds and control people like Prof. X or J'onn, but certainly simple communication and perhaps a low level empathic sense to go along with his power over aquatic life. As mentioned, there's lots to consider with a live action adaptation and finding ways to cut costs or enhance the character and story of Aquaman should be looked at, even if it means some changes from the fan accepted mythos.

The superfriends were the worst, they made every character so lame. They turned Wonder Woman into a damsel in distress. I think the flash was the only one who didn't come out looking worse.

I think they should do away with the water thing as well. I would hope they just put a dome over the city. Then a city under the sea can be a skepitical , they can have zoos with believed to be extinct animals. Lost art and treasures that were believed to be gone.

Nah. Keep to the comics. Keep it fun. The Goyer 'let's make it realistic' is pretty stupid. His interview a while back where he said he would change Martian Manhunters name is pretty telling.

I'm super sick of the "let's make him edgy" mentality.
I want the classic looking Aquaman.

And they are all citing Variety's June 16th article as the source. :oldrazz:

In other words, nothing (new) to see here.

They all seem to be linking to an old Variety report from June.

We haven't heard from WB yet.

Jesus christ, if it's form that old Variety article, why is it so hot right now???

Could be websites looking for hits, or they've simply been misinformed.

Online journalism truly is a wash. I bet they all saw one of the others report it, and in a rush to also break the news, never bothered to check the date of the source.

this thing sucks every day, deny this one for all or confirm this WB.
