Sequels Jude Law Set to Be ZOD?!

I have high hope for Zod also.....

they could explore the chracter much more in this sequel about Zods past, there is so much potential for Zod that no other villain could have in the same way....
theyre doing that on smallville...

In my opinion, if they use Zod at all, it should be in a badass cameo at the end of the second one a la barbossa in pirates 2. He should be revealed at the very end, standing alongside the main villain. Two should end much like Empire Strikes Back and Pirates 2 (which is like ESB anyway.) and our hero should limp away bleeding to fight another day.
a reveal like that would be a lot like the Joker card in BB or Barbossa in Dead man's chest... just something to make people go "WHOA!" and get em psyched for the next one...

The thing is that not alot of people know Zod, so it wont be as shocking as a Joker Card or Barbossa appearing at the end of Pirates 2.

I think they should ahve a Luthor, Zod, Berainiac Team Up!!

Luthor revives Zod because he knows he can beat Superman and knows kryptonian tech, Zod calss Brainiac to come help but in the end Brainiac betrays Zod and Luthor becuase he has his own AGENDA!!

Nobody should stand for anyone other than Christopher Lowell as Zod.

I like this idea. Personally I'm one of the guys in the minority who actually wouldn't mind seeing Zod battling Superman again. It would be better than Superman fighting what.....Doomsday? Come on. Zod is on par with Supes when it comes to power levels, and can actually say more than ''RHARR!'' so the potential for great visuals and an interesting bitter villain hellbent on revenge is right there.
Count me in that "pro-Zod" minority also. Doomsday would be just so blah as a villain. Jude Law would be the perfect casting. So what if its been done before with 70s effects. I want to see Superman vs Zod 2009 style.
You;re right we do need something new, but Zod is the perfect villain for the Krypton saga, he is the anti-superman, the only one with supermans powers and more but his values are different than superman, he likes power, and he also wants revenge on the House of El for imprisoning him in the Phantom Zone...

PERFECT VILLAIN FOR THE SEQUEL!!!
Exactly. The best villains are almost always linked to the hero in some way. Eg Magneto and his followers as a twisted version of what Professor X and his Xmen stand for. Doomsday is just a really tough monster, Darkseid is better but Zod iss linked to so many themes from SR and the mythos: Kal-El's search for other Kryptonians; fathers, sons and legacies; the use of Godlike power. If Singers Superman is Christ then we all know who that makes Zod.
Besides I'm not sure how in-continuity Donner now considers Superman II to be given some things I've heard Singer say. It may be that in the Singer continuity they have never met before.
Singer would be ripped apart by fanboys and critics if he actually went down this route but I think the same general audience who didn't really care much about Superman before SR wouldn't really care that there is a 25 year old movie with the same character. If they see the two of them beating the bejesus out of each other it could be the big hit SR was supposed to be.

Zod can be worked into the sequel , as long as it's no requel of Superman 2.
Singer needs to understand this. It's not the fact that Zod is a boring villain , far from it. I'd be glad to see a Zod vs Superman battle with today's CG technologies.

But to we really of to jack off everything from the Donner movies ?
Seriously a wealth of comic history and all we have is requel heaven ????!!??

And if it's that big of a problem , why not change certain things from the comic history. For example , make Zod a criminal mastermind who creates Doomsday on Krypton. And after Doomsday lands on earth Superman pleads to Zod to help him. Zod asks for his powers once again and then betrays Superman . Supes fights Doomsday in an all out war and get killed. Enter Zod who controls the world until superman gets alive again ( lex helping superman cause he wants to kill supes and not some kryptonian). In the end all out fight with lots of CG mayhem. Lex takes also control and attacks Zod with everything he's got. Weapons , aircrafts . Those along with Superman take on Zod.
Doomsday is all destruction , no brains. Having him as a sole villain in a movie would suck since you can't have any character development. Teaming him up with something would be better.
Work Zod in that movie and you've got an idea.

JUST NO REQUEL BULL**** !!!!!!

Please no ZOD, been there done that. He's been done already in the films and is the villian on Smallville. Superman has a good enough stable of villians. Darkseid and the New Gods would be great in a sequel. Parademons, the Female Furies, Darkseid's minions, Kalibak, and the alien technology. I mean their's so much potential. It would have been nice if a director with vision would've got the gig and done this first, but Singer's @ss got a 200 million plus budget and the film underperformed, so no way is WB gonna pony up that level of budget for the next flick if we even get one, and ever if a comic film needed that huge a budget it would be Superman taking on Darkseid.

Braniac comes to earth after finding new krypton (and the crystals) and heads to the FOS and uses the crystals to replay the end fight with superman and the three phantom zoners. Braniac scans the FOS and finds Zod frozen in the crystals (ala Han Solo in carbinte) and frees him.

what happens after that i don't know.

I could see this because Jude Law is a good actor. My only thing that I would like to see is the incorporation of Braniac as the catalyst to bring zod back. This would most definatly be a drag down fight to see on the screen! I know a lot of people are against Zod but with Jude Law doing it, it would be cool. Just add something else to it is all I ask that is where Braniac comes into play!

zOD HUH?

What is Singer's unoriginal A## going to copy next??? Are we going to have Brandon flying around the earth to turn back time so he could save his long life pal Jimmy Olsen in this one 2?

Even if he brings Braniac into it as a way to bring Zod back would be a bittin idea since thats being done on Smallville now!
The WB really just doesnt have a clue how to make movies anymore, and there letting the most unoriginal man in hollywood ruin Superman.
Bad enough SR ran the series into the ground! Now they are going to let him drive the final nail into the coffin to!

Hey Bryan please dude.... GIVE UP!
Stop, and just go away, and let a real director make this movie...

I'm sorry, but I feel that Braniac is not a great Supes villian. Yes, he's been the mastermind behind several huge storylines....I'll give you that, but once Supes finds out it's Braniac behind the bad stuff, Braniac is immediately found and easily beaten to a pulp or "boom tubed" elsewhere....boring.

So, it's rumored that Zod is gonna make another appearance. What if Singer abandoned the classic Terence Stamp Zod and gave us a spin on Zod from the 2004 Harvest storyline in Supes comics? Not a Supes clone so to speak, but that kind of twisted power and rage and a badass suit like that. I'm also not suggesting a Harvest storyline, but taking elements from that version of Zod and puttin them into the SR sequel.....the fight scenes could better than a Doomsday battle (although contrary to popular opinion, I would love a Doomsday storyline). I'd accept a Braniac or even a Luthor developed Doomsday character. There just needs to be a ton of fighting, splosions, nasty heat vision and bone snapping action in the sequel....that and a great story.

I don't get it. Singer had alot of support when it was announced he was directing the new superman film. Thanks to his first X-Men film, comic films had finally come back with a vengance.

His past films have been top notch. He is a good, proven director. Now, with SR, alot of people aren't happy. It's gotten 50/50 reactions. And because of this, Singer is now considered by a lot of people here to be the worst director going.

I think SR is serving two purposes here. It 'reintroducing' us to the Donner-verse... acting as a remake too, but also a sequel to the Donner-verse, setting up something new in future films.

...........................

Now, about Zod. I would like to see Zod back, but, at the same time, i think something new has to be done first before reintroducing Zod. Doomsday, Darkseid or Brainiac need to be the villian in the sequel, just to give the audience something fresh and new.

Also, may i note, this is just a RUMOUR about Zod and Jude Law. Yet, people on here are taking it as 'truth'. How about we wait until some concrete news/facts comes in before having a go at Singer an jumping the gun.

Jeez, Elvis is alive :woot:

I'd like to see Brainiac and Zod. Having Zod (no Ursa or Non), who was in a Superman movie before, wont make the Returns sequel a remake of 2.

Anyway if he goes with Zod again the only reason I hope he throws another villain (Brainiac or anyone else) in there (I dont mind only Zod) is that so people wont start complaining about how its a remake or a requel or whatever...

I don't want Zod, but if he HAS to return, it should be Jude Law.

All of you who support the zod idea are mad havent you people learned for fu.. sake, what does it take for it to get through to you people. Do you all remember the saying "in singer we trust" well that trust was destroyed upon the dawning of sr. Now his heading towards another big mistake and you still have people saying "yeah thats a great idea oh men that would be cool". Oh please shut up i think its time to make a stand against this the option has to be put there either get original or get out.

my main problem with zod is that he's been done in these movies before and other parts of superman lore hasn't.

F**K ZOD!!!

First of all, I hate Jude Law. Second, I hate Zod. Second, he's already been used. Third... BRAINIAC DAMMIT! And fourth... DARKSEID DAMMIT!!!

Brainiac for the next movie, Darkseid for the third. Holy ***** that would have so much potential. And please people, don't even try to tell me they couldn't pull off Darkseid. Spider-Man 3 is gonna have the friggin SANDMAN for god's sake. Seriously, how friggin cool would it be to see the Omega effect on film? *drool*

how come a lot of people are against zod? i understand the whole because it's not original idea, or how many people think they should come out with a whole new character just like Joss Wheadon was talking about doing with wonder woman. But I like the brainiac idea though we never seen him on the big screen so i wonder what he would be like.

although i also think it could be cool to see darksied, i want to see a villian really make it challenging for superman i mean like play head games with him and feed off of superman's negetive emotions and that can really piss him off and make it even harder for him to save people, get to superman the way the joker can get to batman.
